Pre-recorded call @ 3:00 pm April 5. Male voice said I had entered a contest and my name was drawn last night. Claimed I was the winner of a new Ford Explorer.  Given a choice to dial 1 for more info or dial 2 to get on "DNC list." I chose 1 out of curiosity. A live operator answered, "how can I help you?" I explained I had been told I won a Ford Explorer. He said something quickly, I was not able to understand. Was put on hold for several minutes. I assumed it was a scam, because my husband and I do not sign up for anything. Last night I got a similar call, but the prize was a Carnival Cruise.

Great news everybody!  My name was picked in a contest (a contest I never entered) and won an SUV hybrid  I was told to call Sarah at 888-878-4252 Ext. 212 to claim the prize. Sarah must of thought I was born yesterday. Do you really think I'm going to call you scamming low lifes back? NOT A CHANCE!

Received a call from someone named Sarah at 5:30 pm claiming I had won some kind of prize in a contest I supposedly entered. I suspect it is some kind of scam as I very rarely enter contests.

Received a call from 888-323-5162 that my name was drawn from a movie theater drawing for a 2012 Ford Explorer.  Funny because the number she called me is not listed and I never give it out.  It's only used for outbound calls at my house (business related).  I have another line I use for incoming calls, and that number is listed.  File this in the "Not Born Yesterday" column.

Similar to previous posts I received the prerecorded message from 888-323-5162 that I had won a 2012 SUV hybrid.  First clue of a scam was that they did not name me or my wife, or even the number they called.  Second clue was it just said very generically "from a contest you entered in at a shopping mall, movie theater or online"  Third clue is that they called on my house land line, which I NEVER use for anything or give out to anyone.  Glad I checked here before calling them back.  If I truly won an SUV, they can verify my information when they deliver it to my house, not over the phone!

Same voice message left on my house number by Sarah, who spoke so fast I could hardly make out that good news . . .  something about a Hybird SUV . . .  call 888-323-5162, didn't get the extention . . .  my name was drawn in a contest;  awe, too bad . . .   I guess they'll have to keep the prize to themselves.

From my voicemail text: "my name is Sarah calling from the international verification Center in regards to an entry form you filled out to Wednesday two thousand and twelve for ashley-b(?) hyper truck and one of our shopping malls movie theaters or online within the last twelve months. I have some very good news for you. Your name was pulled last night so give me a call as soon as possible. My number is 8888784252. That number again is 8888784252 and that's extension two two one."

Received exactly the same message from this # at 11:48 am EDT Apr 26, 2012.

I got "THE call" 5/1/2012 in Virginia, mine woulda been a Ford SUV from a lottery I entered within the last 12 months - woohoo!    I am also on the Do Not Call list.  I will not be calling back

I got the same message on my answering machine.  They really must have a lot of trucks to give away!  LOL

Same as everyone else, I got the call, and didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer.  looks like I made the right choice.

Same call as everyone else. Asked to press 1 to speak to "Verification Center" or 2 to be placed on the "DNC List." Nice try. I'm already on the government's Do Not Call list and have been for years. I pressed 1 so I could talk to a person. Surprise! They actuallly answered (I usually get hung up on by the rotary dialer, I guess). I told him I'm already on the DNC list and they have no business calling me. He hung up on me w/o saying a word. Definitely a scam. Avoid.

Seem to be hitting this area hard today!  Is something in the air with all the multiplicity of scam callers recently -- home and mobile numbers are being called.

I received a call also. But I did enter a sweepstakes for what was stated.  I just didn't call back because I too don't give a lan line for return calls.

received the same call/pitch today for a $50,000 home makeover.  We are on do not call registry and will report there as well.

Must have run out of trucks.. mine was for a 50,000 home makeover.. we live in an apartment complex, do you think they will mind when we tear the place up and put in al our new shiney stuff....LOL  Glad to know I am not the only one getting these..

We are on the DO NOT CALL LIST but still call came through saying they had "VERY GOOD NEWS" and to call them back RIGHT AWAY.   These people have a lot of land but no cattle.

I got the same call!  But I am luckier than the rest of you!!!!! Sarah told me that there were 37,500 entries from which they picked 50 names and I am one!!!!!  Final drawing is Saturday between 2 & 4 CST.  Gonna be glued to the phone so I can take the call that I won one of two SUV's being given away.  If I am on the DNC list - why aren't these idiots being fined for harassment?  I'm on the DNC for a reason - I DON'T WANT YOU TO CALL ME!  Gotta have my glasses with me so I can read the caller ID and not answer these scammers!

I've received this call twice over the last 6 months and of course, I had my doubts and have not answered or called back.  I don't give out my number unless I know the organization that I donated/signed up to be a winner.  I'm going to block this number from my phone, as everyone else that I read about, yes, i am on the Do not Call List and have been.  Shame on them.

I received my call today but I didn't win an SUV like everyone else, I won $50,000 for home improvements!  I am on the Do Not Call List and I'm beginning to think that list is a scam also because I still receive tons of calls from telemarketers.
