I work in the fraud Dept at a bank and this is a well known scam that the FBI and Secret Service are both aware of. Do NOT fall for this.

- mm| 2 repliesI just got a call from this number. The man had an indian accent and said he was an officer looking for someone I know ( he did give the persons name and I did know this person) on caller id it just comes up "not avail" for name and phone #. He says he is working on a crimminal investigation and needs to have that person call back and if I was not able to reach him to call the officer back. The funny thing is the person he was looking for is currently in jail and so it made me wonder if this call was legit cause if your an police officer how come you didnt already know he was locked up? Thats when I started to look into this. At first I did not quite understand what he was saying and when I asked what company he was with, he says I am not a company but he also did not say I am with the ......police dept. And if he was a local cop the number should have come up on the call id wouldnt you think? Then he keep asking me to do him a favor and take his name and # and give it the person I know. Good thing I watch alot of cop shows to know if it doesnt sound right.....investigate!!!!

- RICHARD PAZA low quality call came into my office from a man with a heavy accent (possibly Indian). The person who answered the call said that the caller claimed he was calling from a law firm, Martin & Associates, that the caller asked for me by name. That he was very persistent and rude but was able to get 888-336-5999 as a call back number before transferring the call to me. Once I was on the line the man attempted to verify that I was the party he had asked for then said he was calling in regards to a legal matter involving one of my current or previous employees, however due to his heavy accent and the bad connection I could not determine who he was asking about. When I asked if he was trying to verify employment he said no that he need to get ahold of him about an important legal matter that he is involved with. I asked the man where he was calling from and he said Morgan & Associates. I told him it was hard to understand him and that we had a bad connection and for him to tell me again exactly who he was calling for and what it was about. The connection was lost just after he said he was calling from Morgan and Associates about a legal matter............. The party did not call back and after talking with the person who answered the phone I decided the call seemed a little fishy so I searched the number and found this site. After reviewing some of the comments here I decided to write my own comment in hopes that it may help someone else avoid whatever scam it is that these people are trying to pull.

- RICHARD PAZ replies to Heather| 1 replyHi Heather,
If you want to pursue the company, you will need more info. The company name, address and phone number. You will also need to get more info on the alleged legal matter, what does it involve? Is it an old debt that is now barred by the statute of limitations? Lure them in. Give them the impression you will work with them but don't agree to send them any money unless they can prove you owe it and that it is not barred by the statute of limitations. If it is on your credit and you want it off consider that a bad debt will only stay on your credit for 7 years after the last transaction and in most cases unless the company agrees to remove it from your credit at the time you pay it the paid collection account will stay on your credit for 5 years after you pay it.
If they are calling you in reference to a debt they must comply with the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act as well as other federal laws depending upon the type of debt it is. You can find more info just by doing a Google search on the subject. Good luck. - Barry Lloyds| 3 replieshey Everyone .

- MinnesotaThis phone number is a scam 888-336-5999.
They call me and tell me I have been given as a reference from a friend of mine.(Lie) They tell me my friend has three allegations against him.(Lie) They say they are calling from the BCI Bureau Crime Investigation.(Lie) They ask me to have my friend call them at this number and if I have any questions to call them at this number.
The first thing I did was call my friend who just laughe and said he had been getting phone calls too and it was a scam. He has used my name as a reference but only on job interviews and always calls me ahead of the interviewer.
I have also received telephone calls for months from these same people using a different phone number. The number they used last on me was 305-712-3849. My guess, they have to keep switching numbers to stay ahead of being shut down. My friend will get three phone calls a week from three different numbers.- Caller: BCI Bureau Crime Investigation
- KarinaA woman, with a very heavy Indian accent named Michelle, called two of my friends stating that I had legal problems with my social security number. This calls his for used my name twice. The second you get this message you or you’re the attorney of record to return the call to 888-336-5999 my name is Calvin of Kevin Baker (very Broken Language- East Indian) again I repeat the number 888-336-5999. This issue at hand it very time sensitive. If you don’t return the call or I don’t hear from attorney, Good Luck to you….. Paused. After the situation unfold on you or before anything goes wrong. I take that as threat on me….. If you call back you will need your name and social security number. All kinds of noise in the background. - MZReceived a call from this number at my work phone, they left a message with one of the supervisors that they were an officer calling for me. My intial thought was someone in my family is hurt or in trouble. After I called the number and asked for Paul Nixon, he let me know that this is a legal matter and that I needed to pay a debt. (payday Loan) I let him know that I did not have the money to pay this debt,he then informed me of the amount, then something started sounding fishy. He asked me how much i can pay, I said all I have is $20 dollars, he stated that I must be stupid to think i can pay that amount. I hung up with him and he proceeded to call my work numerous times, I transferred the call to my supervisor and she let him know that he needed to stop calling me at work that personal calls are not allowed. He told her that criminal charges would be brought against her, she asked to speak to his supervisot, he said not so she hung up. He called back 10 times in matter of mintues. At one point he spoke with two of my coworkers, and used profanity, I have recorded VM from this person as well as written logs from my coworkers, and supervisors. He also left a message saying that he is trying to get a hold of me and now the company that i work for will have criminal charges brought against it, I have never received calls like this before, and I had to get corporate involved with this matter. Which brings me to the question, how do I get him to stop harrasing me at work before i lose my job.............

- CPThis is the second time I've recieved a call from these scam artist. The first time I was very confused because they told me I owed for a payday loan that I took. I didnt even know what a payday loan was.. Anyway, they had all of my information including my bank account and social security number, which is scary. I closed that bank account and monitor my credit report monthly. I've since reported them to the FCC, Secret Service and the FBI. Today when they called my work, I informed "Peter" who has a very thick Indian accent that I knew he was a scammer and I told him that he should get a real job rather than trying to scam other people.
