888-337-9833 called at 0830 the morning after Thanksgiving and left a barely intelligible message saying it was someone from Van Ru credit collections.

Mr "Stevens" (never met an India indian named Stevens......Patel...maybe, but Stevens?????)  VERY RUDE and he called me.  Wanting my sons contact info.  I requested a return phone number so my son could call back on his lunch break and this man WENT OFF on me calling ME rude.  This has got to be some sort of scam.  I called the number back and they wouldn't even tell me what kind of business they are.  CURIOUS

8883379833 called and wanted to speak w/my husband about credit??? Figuring it was a credit card scam I hung up. It shows up as Adams County of 18883379833. Then got an automated call from the same #, same title asking me to press 1 if this is the name they say, press 2 if that person is not available at this time of press3 if that person does not belong to the phone number called. Sounds like a scam to me!!??

Called and curtly asked to speak with my wife, I told the women she wasn't available and asked who was calling... She replied Mrs. Hampton, asked for a cell *which I didn't give*, and gave me another toll free to call her back... 8883377705 ext. 6363.  I asked when the best time was for her to return and she said SO rudely, "NOW" then immediately hung up...  Shady.

These idiots called three times in the span of four hours.  The first time they called they didn't leave a message.  The second time they called they left an automated message for a Corey Manheim or something like that.  They did say that they were debt collectors at the end of their long and drawn out message.  The third time they called was a live person for whom I told to bugger off, there is no Corey that lives with me!

I keep getting calls from this number for my ex husband.  Why do they hide who they are by putting "Adams County of" on the caller ID?

I divorced the man they're looking for 6 years ago, have moved across country (living in 2 states since) and have not spoken to him since.  He has NEVER lived with me in this state, at this number.   I explained all this during the first call.  Despite this they keep calling.  This time I said if they called again I'd file a formal complaint with the FCC.  This RUDE condescending woman said, "Listen, I've been doing this 11 years, and I don't appreciate you threatening me..."  I said "It's a threat to file a consumer complaint?..."  Ihung up.  Now I'm REALLY going to complain, not only to the State Attrny General but to the US Dept of Education.

This number keeps calling.  When I pick up, no one is there.  They leave no message when I do not pick up.  I can't believe this is a legitimate business -- beware!!!

    SCAM Number
Folks, oldest trick in the book...they ask for your social security number to verify they are "talking to the right person".  DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION!

I smelled the scam when they wouldn't give any detailed information on their identity and said they could only give it to the person they were calling for.  They could only identify the caller through their SSN.

Any legit company that already had your SSN, wouldn't need the whole SSN to verify identity.  Don't fall for it people.

Have been calling for 2 weeks. Leaves message saying they are attempting to collect a debt. When I finally answered thry told me they would not tell me the nature of the call until I verified who I was. When I refused at first to  tell her my name she told me thay they would continue to call  Then she would still not tell me why she was calling. I told her I was not giving any info to anyone who would not tell me why they were calling. She again told me they would keep calling. I told her I was reporting to Better Business and she hung up.

I don't think it's really U.S. Department of Education Student Loans.  I have some parent loans for my daughter, but none of them are in default, none are even a day behind (actually, I'm ahead on all of them).  This has got to be a scam--someone who has gotten the phone number and the list, but is trying to get you to give identifying information.  I get lots of correspondence regarding changes in the Student loans via mail--none of it over the phone.

Started receiving calls from Van Ru Corp for a Randy Chase.  Explained to the first few that I didn't know anyone by this name.  Calls continue to come in.  Messages left for a while, sounding very official and attempting to collect on outstanding debit for same person.  Still getting these calls 2-3 a day, then a day or so without a call; no messages left anymore, just the calls.  Wish they would update their records; sorry they are wasting their time.

May be for an ex-roomie's husband from another state who goes by different names.

today at 4:30 I received a phone call from 888-337-9833 on my cell phone. I didn't know the number so i didn't answer it. They left no message at all. I am on the "do not call list" plus this is a cell phone, isn't there some way they can get into trouble for this?
