Paul - Anonymalso got a call today, saying my gf won a car or cash of $78k. Saying it's from christmas in the park event... The call is fraudulant. You did not win anything. They just get bunch of your information and ask you to go to some showroom for scratch-off card and/or the "Big Spin Gift Wheel"...

- SGSomeone who identified himself as Frank called me and told me I won some $100000 and asked me for some personal info and my spouse info and asked me to come to San mateo show room with the following address and phone number:

- amandinethey called me 3 times (Deborah, somebody I don't remember and Frank).
They said I could win 100,000, a car or some other prizes (the smallest being a $100 gas card) just by going at a 90 minute presentation tonight at 8:30.
Well, screw it, my husband and I are going... we never know... Plus we're not stupid. As soon as they ask any credit card information we're out of there.
Can somebody who went as far as going to the show room report their experience?
Thanks - MT.Sylvia phoned from her number 1-866-448-3427 (ext 71) at my mobile, and I was chosen for an entry. She told me I can win a 1000.000K or a car, etc. of any 5 prizes including a trip of 3 days/ 2 nights for either a cruise or time share (the catch was to observe "out of being skeptical", their customer service, etc. something like a "secret shopper" and report to them what we have observe). I was not really excited as I was a little confused and I was not convinced. Then she tells me to call a day before I show up at 866-5404601 to get the pass word for bonus gift and show up the day after at San Mateo Showroom next week.. That day I spoked to her, she said she was going to send me an email of the details she has told me, its been 3 days and no email from her. Hmmm, I am getting concerned about this! If any of you have done this before, can you please tell me what is really going on..?? Looks like this is a scam. I am afraid!!

- There is no Spoon| 2 repliesYa'll want to know what's up with this? I know, the answer is simple.
I received a call pretty much the same as all of you about 5 minutes ago. The return number they gave me was 888-342-7935. I don't have the # they, "Thomas" in my case, called me on, but ah well.
Anyway, filled thing out at a mall (which I'll never do again), won some kinda garbage or 100 grand.... I was probably his hardest call of the night! I've been to all those places and more, plus I have on-call job responsibilities and so does my wife. Well, the 100 grand is what got me and I have to admit so did the guys exasperated sounding voice of disbelief when I told him No. Anyway, long story short I told him I'd think about it.
So, my answer to the question is..... It's a Timeshare presentation to sell you timeshares. "What if I still say no.... I still get a fabulous prize.. :P"
Well, that's only up to your individual perceptions and I'll show you the facts and you can go and get your fabulous prise if you follow everything in the promotion and there are many catches that could cause you to not get your fabulous prise after all. Read on...
The following information can be found at the promoters web site (At the very bottom of site in small text):
http://www.sanmateoshowroom.com/
My comments/opinions are bordered by asterisks *
Promotion: There is no obligation to buy or join anything. --- * Completely True *

* Don't meet these following requirements outlined in the next section = no prise...
Not only that:
- 25-75 years old? good! you either can work to pay it off or dip into your retirement
- and a gross income of at least $35,000 dollars
- Must bring you Spouse/Partner.... Something about community property comes to mind and being married in California
- Must bring a credit card, debit card with a MasterCard or VISA logo, or checkbook... Why would you EVER need to bring these things if you were winning something? A: You don't, you can pay the taxes any time (well, there's a 60 or 90 day limit) after winning
all adds up to = meeting initial requirements of getting a major purchase
So, you must be eligible for a loan
*
Eligibility: 25-75 years of age with a combined annual gross income of at least $35,000. Please bring two forms of identification including a government-issued ID (e.g. driver’s license, passport, etc.) and a credit card, debit card with a MasterCard or VISA logo, or checkbook. If you have attended any PMR sales presentation within the past twelve months or you are a current or previous employee of PMR you are ineligible for this Promotion. Ineligibility under this Promotion should not be construed as ineligibility to purchase PMR’s products or services..... *...... And why would you be ineligible for something that you "Won" if you have attended a presentation within the past 12 months? (For some who may not follow what was just said, you must attend the presentation to receive the prise, there fore, if you went within the past 12 months for something you "won", you can't win again :( )
* Gifts!! Alright, that's what we're spending 90 minutes for, wooo!
- Determined by scratch-off, which have "Big Spin Gift Wheel" (i.e. A spin wheel which has the vacation packages on them), A vacation package, gas card or surround sound system, or 100,000 dollars before Uncle Sam takes his share (pun intended)... If you're wanting your Vegas trip, this is the first test of your odds.... Which we're getting too...
- No gifts can be exchanged for cash. Whaaaa?? Why? Well, the answer is coming, keep reading.
*
Gifts: Everyone who is eligible and completes the sales presentation averaging approximately ninety minutes is guaranteed to receive at least one of the gifts (as determined by the scratch-off card and/or the "Big Spin Gift Wheel"). If you are not satisfied with the gift awarded from the Big Spin Wheel, you may instead choose the Theme Park Adventure certificate. Promotion participants may also receive bonus gift(s) as determined solely by PMR. In the event an offered gift is not available following completion of your tour, PMR reserves the right to provide a rain check for such gift. No gifts may be exchanged for cash.
* Acceptance Terms
- Provider = The TIMESHARE locations they're trying to SELL!!
- First sentance... Almost enough said, the certificates provided by "Provider" is the place where you'll be going to say on the vacation, you don't fill those out = no vacation, the rest of it, enough said.
- If you win, they can use your name and "likeness" (cardboard cutouts for timeshare promotions, travel brochures.... use your noodle can come up with) without paying you for the use (except where prohibited by law)
*
By accepting any gift(s) in connection with the Promotion, you agree that, with the exception of any failure or refusal to fulfill the vacations certificates by the certificate provider ("Provider"), PMR, including its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents shall have no liability for (and you shall indemnify, defend and hold PMR harmless against damage, loss or injury that may arise in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from) the acceptance, possession and use of such gifts(s). Acceptance of any gift constitutes your permission for PMR's use of your name and likenesses for promotional purposes without further compensation, except where prohibited by law. The winner of $100,000 Cash must report and pay any and all taxable income. PMR and the Provider are completely separate and unaffiliated entities.
* All Right! now the vacations: But wait
- Truth: All vacations can be traded in for something, The Theme Park Adventure, which in my opinion probably isn't to bad... (But you have to do it when you find out what your prise is following the seminar, after you agree to a vacation, that's all she wrote and that's what you'll get.)
- The certificates must be registered with the "Provider" within a certain amount of time... Sucks if you have to wait for vacation time, or if you're waiting for that raise for some extra gambling.
- First:
They Do Not pay for - food, drinks, tips (i.e. waiter, bellboy, etc), anything you want to buy (i.e. souvenir's), any government taxes of where you're going and/or Federal, State, Local, Port (i.e. going on a Cruse, there may be a port fee for you to get on the boat for your three hour tour, tell the professor I said what's up), security and ticketing fees up to $50 per person per day.
- Second:
You call the "Provider" and make your reservations OR "Certain travel date options" ( translation ~ Off Peek Season )
-Third:
You gotta pay taxes to the "Provider" prior to dead line confirm... Are you one of those people that have a hard time mailing anything out to anyone??? I can never seem to get around to even mailing my own mom half the time.
Reservations require 90 days notice (so, 3 months, understandable if it's a busy place), but wait.... aww, subject to availability, limited during summer months, not accessible 7 days before a holiday, peak demand periods and conventions??? Wait, didn't I "Win" a vacation? Why is my vacation sounding like I'm trying to take time off to go to a timeshare? A: Oh, wait, that's right, it is a timeshared resort.
*
With regard to the use of vacation certificates: First, vacation certificates must be registered with the Provider no later than the deadline provided on the certificate and do not cover ancillary expenses such as food, beverages, gratuities, or items of a personal nature or government-imposed taxes or fees ("Taxes") which, depending upon the certificate, may include federal, state or local taxes, port charges, security fees and/or ticketing fees totaling up to fifty dollars ($50) per person per day. Second, following receipt and registration of the certificate by the Provider, you will receive a letter with a telephone number, which can be called to make reservations, or certain travel date options. Third, after travel/accommodations dates have been selected, Taxes must be paid directly to the Provider prior to the deadline to confirm. Travel must be completed within twelve months following the vacation certificate registration date. Reservations require at least 90 days advance notice and are subject to availability and may be limited during the summer months, and are not accessible seven calendar days prior to holidays, peak demand periods and the occurrence of certain conventions.
* Airtravel
- May require stopovers and/or (I hope it's always "and") connecting flights. I hate connecting flights, I was trying to get to Texas from Cali one time and saw a really cheap ticket, but it had FOUR connecting flights, 4! Just to get to Texas, and here's the kicker, 27 hr travel time. So I drove it straight through instead, 1,500 miles, took 24 hours and the gas to get there and back was cheaper. And I didn't have to take off my shoes, belt, empty pockets of all metals, put liquid bottles in a little bag, or smell the funky person next to me. So beware.
- You're solely (The only one) responsible for travel between the airport and your hotel, i.e. Cab rides, limo service (and the tip to the driver), train or bus tickets.... The Hawaii trip, 45 minutes to an hour or more depending on traffic, and Vegas not too long
- After reservations have been made and confirmed, if something comes up, i.e. death in the family, job requirement, etc., service fees and/or penalties may be charged for any Changes, Cancellations, or No-Show.. Wow, some prise, if I don't go on the trip <insert reason here> I may have to pay?
- All vacation certificates utilize tourist/economy class transportation and/or accommodations = Not First Class! You're gonna get the least they can provide.
- Dont forget about getting the vouchers as late as seven , 7, days prior to departure, better be checking your mail.
*
For those vacation certificates including air travel, departures may be late in the day with return flights two days later scheduled for early morning. Air travel may require stopovers and/or connecting flights. You are solely responsible for travel between the airport and your hotel. Once reservations have been confirmed, service fees and/or penalties may be charged for any changes, cancellations or no-shows. All vacation certificates utilize tourist/economy class transportation and/or accommodations and are for use by two adults at least 21 years of age. Specific details such as flight times, airline, location of accommodations and theme park ticket vouchers may be provided as late as seven days prior to departure. Group travel (two or more individuals traveling together using multiple certificates) is not permitted. If you desire alternate travel or accommodations not included as part of this Promotion, they may be made available through the Provider.
* Additional terms and Conditions
Wheew! There's more?
Better read carefully, there some additional taxes that may be involved.
*

The Carnival Cruise certificate is a five-day/four-night cruise including a category one inside cabin featuring bunk bed accommodations with departures out of Long Beach, California to Ensenada, Mexico on a Monday or Port Canaveral, Florida to Nassau, Bahamas on a Sunday, subject to the Provider’s availability. After confirmation of your travel dates, you may be required to pay additional taxes not to exceed $10 per person. The Las Vegas Vacation certificate provides round-trip air travel and accommodations for two nights with arrivals on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. The Theme Park Adventure and accommodations-only vacation certificate in Anaheim, San Diego/San Diego county, Santa Clara, Valencia/Santa Clarita, Catalina Island, Palm Springs, Big Bear, Lake Tahoe/Reno, Laughlin, Ensenada, Rosarito, and Cabo San Lucas/Los Cabos, Mexico require an arrival day of Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. Catalina accommodations are not permitted during the months of June, July or August. Transportation to Catalina Island is not provided. PMR makes no representations regarding the manufacturer of the Home Theater System. Use of gas cards is governed by the terms and conditions of the card issuer. Although gas cards may generally be used for the purchase of goods and/or services where such cards are accepted, certain merchants may not be equipped to accept gas card transactions. Gas cards may be subject to monthly maintenance fees and/or an expiration date as determined by the issuer and may also require activation prior to use. Gas cards may not be redeemed for cash and no change will be given. No sponsorship, endorsement, approval or responsibility for this promotion by the gas card issuer is intended or implied.
*
Don't misplace your vacation certificates, you only get one per scrachey
*
Lost, stolen, damaged, or expired gas cards or vacation certificates will not be replaced.
* Now for those odds (The odds "Thomas" didn't have them when I asked)
- Seems the historical odds of getting $100,000 are better than the odds of winning this year! If anyone wins the $100,000 in 2008, let me know because the odds will get a little better.
- Check out the odds between the historical and 2008 for Las Vegas!!! Historical - 1 to 2 ( so a 50/50 shot the scratcher you pull out is for Vegas, historically... ), 2008 - 1 to 1.04!! You're almost certain to go to Vegas.... Viva Las Vegas! Viva Las Vegas! And no, they don't give you money to gamble.
- Compare the remaining odds, look them all over, and if you look at them long enough - you'll drift off to Vegas.. hehe
*
Odds: During the past four years, the historical odds of receiving randomly awarded gifts have been: $100,000 Cash, 1:61,336; Carnival Cruise Getaway, 1:19; Las Vegas Vacation, 1:2; Hawaiian Holiday, 1:78; Home Theatre System/Gas Card, 1:70. For 2008 your odds of receiving $100,000 Cash are 1:100,000. "Big Spin Gift Wheel" odds are: Carnival Cruise, 1:50; Hawaiian Holiday, 1:100; Las Vegas Vacation, 1:1.04; Home Theatre System/Gas Card, 1:100. The Theme Park Adventure may be selected in lieu of an awarded gift, while bonus gift(s) may also be awarded to participants - accordingly, no odds have been assigned to these gifts.
So, all in all, it's not worth it to me. I'm saving myself 90 minutes of my time, money, and the frustration of trying to arrange all the travel plans. It's also one long sales pitch. You'll be staying in their resorts and cruse ships and you'll drown in the exposure to their "product", err, I mean the prise.
I'm not going, I didn't win anything and if I did want to go on one of those vacations, I'd pay myself so I could do it on my terms and not the "Providers". An besides, the most expensive trip (at least according to their site) is the Hawaii trip, if you trow in everything else that you'll have to pay for already, can't you afford the $899 and want to to it on your terms?
I filled out a stupid form in the mall that was given to a telemarketer. Arg, never again. - There is no SpoonBTW, (in addition to my post last night about PMR) I also found quite a few bad experiences about PMR on Ripoff Report.com at the following link (It's a good site for checking all companies before buying from them):

- JimQGot a call to my wife's cell for me saying I had entered a contest at the theater and won. Had to call back to claim it.
Per the above, I did not call back.- Caller: unknown
- OPSTYLEIt's Pacific Monarch Grand Vacation. EVERY prize is basically a VEGAS trip. And, you HAVE to certify mail the claim in-- they only tell you that in person.... it doesn't say it on the form anywhere. I got sucked in by my husband to go to the sales presentation in Rancho Cucamonga. All in all, I could tell where the scams were and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the "couples" that bought into it were part of the employees but they weren't pushy when we told them we weren't interested.

My son got a call today. All we have to do is tell them he's 17, unemployed, no credit cards, still in high school............ That should eliminate future calls1
- AMANDAi got a call, and a voicemail. Gave me a call back number of 888-342-7935, she said to ask for Desiree at extension 44. I called back, a "resort" anwered and said that promoters were at lunch, and for me to call back at 1:00pm. I googled the number to make sure if it was a scam, and since reading these posts, i will not call back or answer again. The woman on my voicemail comgratulated me, said I won a vacation at a resort from a drawing. She said I filled out for it at a restaurant, and I like to fill those things out, so I tried to think of when I did that specific one.... I have no clue.

- Applebox replies to There is no SpoonI confirm that what 'There is no Spoon' says is consistent with my experience. But a few of you may still want to take advantage of the offer with your eyes open.
First, about open your eyes.
Though the three timeshare offers we attended between 1993 and 2003 were openly advertized as 2 night get-a-ways to a nice hotel in exchange for the 90 min presentation, a decade ago we knowingly risked mailing in a 75$ prepayment for a Bahamas cruise, which we never heard from again. Putting the details of all these experiences together, makes a perfect fit to 'There is no Spoons' details.
The call that prompted me to come to this website started with our signing up for "Enter to Win" at the Ventura County Fair last September. This morning we got the phone message from "jeffery keel" at x62 that we were "one of the top five gifts." Though my wife expected a scam, she was excited by the prospect -- someone has to win sometime. Thanks to this website, 800notes.com, and yellowpages.com's reverse phone number lookup I now am sure the top five prize I probably (1 to 1.04) is a trip to some timeshare location.
When to take advantage:
We are going to pass on this offer. But if you:
1) live close enough to attend the 90 min timeshare offer
2) are strong enough to not fall for the offer (my wife thought the were a bit too pushy, I felt they were reasonable)
3) if you do decide to buy a timeshare (we did decide to proceed with buying one at Polo Towers in Las Vegas undergoing rennovation that was half the price of the new units just built and also for sale) you READ AND UNDERSTAND the contract and decide if it still is for you (we didn't and went back the next day and cancelled as they tell is your 3 day right of recission -- I'm pleased to report that that TS org was totally pleasant about cancelling the contract and didn't try to dissuade us)
4) you consider the probable vacation prize worth all the costs and conditions 'There is no Spoon' informs you of are acceptable (for us, a key condition would be that we could drive to the vacation site in 4 hours)
5) you're wise enough to turn down the cruise if you are unlucky enough to win it (or can drive to the port of deparkation, or want to go so bad you are willing to jump thru all the hoops and pay all the associated costs and take all the risks they put on you)
6) you are not hoping to win one of the tangible prizes (cash, gas card, home theater or whatever)
Then maybe it is worth your while to call them back and see if the 90-min promotion and the vacation are close enough, and the vacation spot is desirable for you enough to make this worth you while.
But I suggest instead you just find a TS location close to you, call them and say you are interested, and what promotional package can they offer to make it worth you while to come hear their pitch. Then:
-- learn about the downsides of timeshares (rarely rarely rarely a good financial investment)
-- learn about timeshare swaps (hard to swap if your TS isn't a popular destination),
-- go enjoy your night or two little getaway witht the free brunch and dinner,
-- listen to the pitch,
-- wisely decide if you are ones that TS make sense for (keep your head).
-- and drive home rested and happy.
Or decide that saving 300 bucks on a nice weekend getaway isn't worth all the research, presentations, pressure, hoops, and uncertanty and plan your own 300$ getaway. Or as a consolation, be a tourist for the day in your own or a neighboring town, drop 30$ on a dinner for two, a 1$ on a DVD rental, 5$ on desert, and enjoy your own bed. - CJ| 1 replyAttended the presentation and came away with nothing to show for it. Winning the $100,000 prize is comparable to winning the Lottery. My advice is not to waste your time on this. Here is my full story, if you'd like to know more:
Just for fun, my husband and I entered a drawing to win a cash prize or a car in our local mall a few months back. I received a call yesterday, telling us that my name had been drawn and we needed to come and claim our prize. Carol on the phone was calling from Diamond Resorts International and when I asked her about the legitimacy of this call, she assured me that their company had a very prestigious reputation and that they'd never make a call like this that wasn't accurate. She went on to explain that the prize would be either $100,000 or a new car or one of five prize vacation packages that she thoroughly explained in detail. Although I'm naturally a skeptic with these kinds of things, I agreed to make the appointment to claim my prize at Diamond Resorts in Scottsdale that evening since we only live a short drive away. I was assured that I'd only have to sit through a 90 minute presentation, with absolutely no obligations to purchase, and then I'd receive a ticket to scratch and find out which prize I'd won. My husband and I both agreed that we had nothing to lose and that we didn't want to always wonder if we'd only gone if we'd have won. The staff at Diamond Resorts was professional, the presentation was painless, and the free refreshments were a bonus. BUT at the end of the night, my husband and I both felt lied to. As we had suspected, my name was not one of an elite few that had been drawn from the mall's prize entry. Hundreds of people attend these prize presentations every week. Moreover, the $100,000 or new car prize has ridiculous odds comparable to winning the lottery. All we came home with was 2 vouchers for "free" vacations that offer such inconvenient dates and require so many expensive fees that we'll never bother using them. We feel we'd come out paying less if we plan our own vacation on our own terms. On the bright side, we'll never wonder if we'd only gone if we'd have won the $100,000. But I'd never recommend this to anyone unless you are truly interested in viewing the sales presentation from Diamond Resorts International.- Caller: Show Room Direction, Diamond Resorts Intl., Scottsdale Villa Mirage
- HeatherI got a call from a 'Peggy' stating how urgent it was that I call that number back today because I entered a drawing at the AZ state fair and it made it all the way up to the grand prize. Clearly, that's false. I won't be calling back to be forced to sit through any presentations. She claimed to be from the Diamond Resort guest center.
- HC replies to CJThey are still doing the same thing as of now 12/3/2015 and all from filling out a card at Scottsdale fashion square mall for trying to win a nice car or some money. It just shows you that nothing in life is free (should have known better). The only good thing is I gave them a phony address and gave them my friends telephone number instead of mine. ^_^
