I have received several calls from this number with some guy reading off some patterned information.  I can't understand them and am trying to find out exactly where they are.  My daughter was involved in an automobile accident February of 2006 and had no insurance.  I believe this is an agent for the insurance company and they are trying to make contact with her about paying the debt from the accident.  If anyone has any information I would love it before I devulge to much.

My  youngest daughter just called my job hysterical about a man that called our house asking to speak with my oldest daughter.  He asked to speak with MLP and was told she was not home.  He asked to speak with me and was told I was not home.  He asked her who she was and she hung up on him.  He then called back and said he didn't appreciate being hung up on and if she wanted to keep my daughter or I out of court she would give him our phone numbers where to reach us.  He started prying for numbers and she was not going to give them.  He asked her if she knew where we worked and she said no.  

He then said you mean to tell me you don't know how to reach your Mother or know where she works.  

If this was a bill collector, he would not be calling for my oldest daughter and then asking for me.  My daughter is old enough and responsible for her own bills I am not connected with any of her debts so I found this very interesting.  

Shortly after my daughter called me to tell me about this incident I received a phone call from a man from 716-312-0826 Same person?  I would believe so.

This company supposedly call Eastern Asset Management called and threatened to freeze all credit cards I have, garnish my wages, and put a lien on my vehicle.  They also threatened to sue me and take me to court.  I have never been sent anything by mail concerning this so called account.  I asked for them to fax the information to show it is legit and I have not seen anything.  This so called account does not show up on my credit report.

ive filed numerous complaints on these people, they changed their name from Ethical Asset Management to Eastern Asset Management as of January 1, 2008 maybe they thought it was deceiving because these people are merely a collection agency, the receptionist @ 888-346-3978 told me that a Michael Slawek whom is the "investigator" because she claims they're a civil investigation firm. ?? what the heck is that.. She told me that  they try to track down individuals in cases for civil and criminal matters? Well a collection agency in other words may sue someone for a civil matter.. but in this case.. c'mon you are some supposed big shot company, feeding off collection accounts.. and your from new york? what happpened to the criminal aspect of this company.. I live in Wisconsin, and I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, DFI Complaint through WI & NY... A complaint with the Attorney General in NY & in WI.. we're not disputing the fact that this bill is owed, but however the collection tactics and using misleading information.  Oh yea, I have also filed a FTC complaint. we'll see where we get... The man calling is Michael Slawek, he calls in the name of Attorney John Nicolia @ 716-626-3432. This attorney seems like he has his head on straight, and I don't think he'll be to impressed about this client of his, Eastern Asset Mgmt I know of the FDCPA, fair debt collection practices act, because I'm a financial Recovery specialist as well.. im lamans terms.. debt collector.. and im upset about another agecny.. kinda funny!

Even when you pay your account these people will harrass you! I called Eastern Asset Mgt to ask them about a 1099C, required by the IRS to be filed by the collection company once a settlement has been reached.  I paid my account in full in 2007. Today I inquired about the 1099C, and was transferred to someone who got on the line and asked again what I wanted. I repeated my request, and he said they don't file those. I said "I don't understand. By law, you are required to report this information to the IRS, and I would just like to receive my form so I can file my taxes."  He said "Fine! Then you can talk to them about it!" and slammed the phone down.  I will INDEED speak to the IRS about it! I will also share with them the fact that this company refused to send me the form, and seems to be wilfully disobeying US tax laws.

got a similar message threatening my daughter with a subpoena. puh-leez. how lame. the hilarious part is that i tried to call back out of curiosity and the number doesn't work

So they call me about an 8 year old credit card debt, and say that they are a law firm that is taking me to court. They claim to have over $1600 in accrued interest and late payments on the debt, but they will settle for $600. What power do they have? let me get this right that collection agency call you and ask you to repay your debt.  You get upset because they call and say they want thier money.  You spent the money now you are upset when they want it back.  Their is around 264 billion of dollars for sell on the market for people that dont pay their credit cards.  Why do you think that is? No one should have to call you to pay your bills, suck it up and pay what you owe and stop craying about!

This company keeps calling my parents house and keeps asking for my boyfriend. (Who had lived there with me for some time.) They gave my mom the number to call back and a case number that doesn't exist. I know he has a credit card debt somewhere, but I highly doubt this company has any jurisdiction over collecting this in court. No Judgment? No reason to even think twice about these phone calls. I recommend just hanging up if these people call. I used to work for a collections attorney in North Carolina, so I know the proceedures. These people fail.

Look into the Statute of Limitations (SOL)for your area. In Iowa after 7 yrs. they can't come after you for old debt!!

Ethical Asset Management/ Eastern Asset Management has called over the last 6-8 months members of my family over an alleged debt by another member of my family, none of us live under the same roof. In fact, there is no way they could have gotten one of the phone numbers they were calling unless they bought phone records and started calling frequently called numbers. In other words they were fishing in a barrel. Beyond the obvious Constitutional privacy violations that this raises, it is anything but ethical.

When I told them that I knew they were using illegal tactics, they attempted to threaten me by telling me they were recording the phone call and would be calling the police and filing charges against me. I asked them what charges would they be filing . . . of course they had no answer.

I happen to be technically apt, so I advised them that any further phone calls they make will automatically be recorded. They aren't likely to stop, but then that's what Federal Court is for, which will be the next step.

Michael Slalik left a message for my 23 year old son that he was named as a defendant in a case #107379 in our local county.  It was important to contact him within 24 hours to avoid being served a summons.
He said he worked for the law firm of John Macawlia or a name that sounded like that.

We got a second call from Michael Slawek, w/o learning any more.  He may mention Attorney John Nicolia but a real attorney holding proof of a debt
will first send a actual letter about it before starting a suit.
Ethical Asset Management or Eastern Asset has an address at 3990 McKinley Parkway, Blasdell (or Buffalo) N.Y. 14219.. USPS will accept Blasdell but
prefers Buffalo.
They are violating the Fair Credit Debt Collection Act, so you need the address if you send a "Cease & Desist Letter".

E Asset Management left a threatening voice mail message for my niece, who doesn't live here. It was a man name Robert Rush and he said to reference a case number.  He said that he was calling on behalf of attorney John Nicolia, and that if my niece or her attorney did not call back within 24 hours that this would be sent to the county for a lawsuit to be filed and a subpoena will be served.  He said to call number 888-312-0847. I called the number back and spoke with a woman who answered.  She was trying to get me to give her a phone number for my niece, but I told her that I did not have her phone number (that is true).  The women asked me to pass the message along to my nieces parents.

john nicolia is an attorney not affiliated with the agency. He represents them in vavious capacities.

I have received phone calls from the number 888-346-3978 ext 101, from someone by the name of Matthew Del. He initially called my work number on 10/03/08 to say he had to speak to my daughter about a legal matter and that it was important that I have her return the call. I asked what it was in reference to and he informed me that he could only talk to her about it. I didn't ask how he got my work number because at the time, I thought my daughter had used me as a reference. I found out from my sister that she was contacted by these people concerning my daughter and assumed also that my daughter had used her as a reference. I told my daughter about the phone call and asked her what it was about. She said she didn't know but would call. On 10/06/08 I received another call at work from Eastern Assets & Associates. It was a voice message from Mathew Del saying that my daughter had until 6pm to return the call or give me permission to return the call or there wouldn't be anything they could do for her and that she would be taken to court. The message said to reference claim # D96624. I called my daughter and gave her the information, she called the number and was informed that she had a credit card debth and would have to pay a full payment or two payments (one by 10/24/08 for $1,652.76 or two by 11/28/08 at $936.24 each). My daughter called and informed me of this so while she and I were on the phone, we called the number to see if we could make a more economic payment arrangement. We got Mr. Sinclaire, who immediately started the bill collector attack. He stated that a payment plan outside of 6 months would not be acceptable, and that my daughter had until Friday to accept one of the payment plans he threatened. He actually starts yelling at me over the phone because I'm questioning him about documentation concerning their billing practices, etc. By now I'm upset, so I tell "Mr. Sinclaire" to just send me the documentation showing the charges. I gave him the email addresses for me and my daughter to send me the documents. I can honestly say that I have never, ever had an encounter with someone like this before. I knew something was not right about the whole situation. I googled the attorney's name, John Nicolia, and found this site along with a few more like it, and its disturbing to me that the people at Eastern assests feel it's okay to treat people this way.

This attorney called to my sisters house and left a msg. with a case # stating it was really important for me to call asap because it was a very serious manner.

When I called and spoke to some guy and attorney named Clair Clout he told me it was immediately for me to pay them with credit card, debit card or check in order to get out of this depth......I WAS BOOO [***] I don't even remember having a depth in that year.

Then I asked him to send me an email of something stating I owed that and he send this

So the real question is this, is this company ligit? I go have a debt, and its not a huge ungodly amount. I am concerned as always about giving money to someone with no paper work to file away and keep as record. They do everything except flat out refuse to send me any documentation. They also very rarely answer the phones and so I've been communicating through VM with a Mr Ponteraro (No idea how to spell his name) at phone number 888-222-2417 (this goes directly to his desk).
