Bill-Me-Later is a service offered by PayPal and I've had contact with them very recently.
The call was legit.

This was a legit call from Bill Me Later checking on a purchase I made.  The representative was very friendly and polite.  It actually is quite nice that they were checking to see that the purchase was mine.

Do NOT give any personal info to anyone using this number.  They are NOT from BillMeLater, but pretending to be to obtain personal information from you.  BEWARE:  Do not give any personal information to these people.

Who are these people?  They had partial info about me and wanted me to fill in the blanks for them.  Sounded really shady, especially when I asked for an employee ID# to refer to in the future.

Agreed... They are just calling to verify an account I opened from a large purchase. All they asked for is my last 4 of my social. Legit.

Just got a call from them phishing. Not legit! Reporting them to BBB.  They wanted last 4 of my social. I said no and they said tell us your birthday. We know it is 1974?  What a total scam.

Scratch that. It was legit,but I called up the phone on the Bill Me Later website to confirm it was legit instead of talking to the guy who called me.

It's a scam. I refused to give the girl my number. Called the number from the PayPal website. They do not have me as an account holder.

I got a call from this number but they gave me a different number to call them back 877-981-2126
Saying they are verifying a credit card application attempt; gave me a reference number.  Any comments with experience with these two numbers will be much appreciated!

Someone named Cody left mssg on my machine saying he was from A+ credit security dept. gave a ref number. Said to call back at 877-981-2136. I did not.
After looking up the number that the call initiated on, the people here says it belongs to Bill Me Later.
I looked up their website and called them. She didn't recognize either number, but did say the company is huge.
She said no account in my name. Thank God. I have had fraud alerts out on the big credit bureaus already. For some reason I'm being targeting. I'm getting mail with someone trying to open accounts. Now phone phishing.
I'm ready to fall off the grid.

More info ... my call (described above) said they were from Pay Pal, verifying a credit application.  No mention of Bill Me Later, as so many have posted here.  Good idea to call official Pay Pal number to check.

I got a call from this number & it scared me a bit. i did give him the last 4 of my social & my mailing address. After I was worried so I called the main paypal number. They transferred me to paypal credit & they said that it was their number. If you are worried, go to the paypal website, call their main number as listed under contacts and you can confirm this way. That did throw me for a loop though. I'm usually more cautious and this time I gave out info I wasn't entirely comfortable with. In the end, its OK
