Solicitation call from "Navy Vets" who are looking for donations to help support the troops in Iraq.

I am a navy veteran who served six years. I was in Desert Storm. I don't need to be told by some idiot at a call center that I need to be sending a care package to Iraq. I did my time and I don't need to give anything more than I have already. This guy was the rudest caller I've ever had call me. First of all, I work nights and he woke me up from just going to sleep, second he was asking for someone other than me then pulled the old, "Well, can I talk to the head of the household" routine. He was a jerk from the start and when I kindly asked to be taken off the call list he got even ruder and refused to let me speak. To hell with this scam of a charity. I would doubt that any of the money goes to Iraq anyway. Just look at their website - a two year old could design a better and more professional site than that!

I got a call from 888-398-2271 ID, asking for Robert...

Received a call at 3:07pm from 888-398-2271.  When I answered I heard the guy at the call center carrying on a conversation with another employee.  I waited a few seconds and then hung up.  If you are going to make a call be available when you get connected.  I have worked in call centers before and am well aware of how the dialers work.  Caller ID said unknown name.

Same routine... the call comes in as 888-398-2271 ID'd as "UNAVAILABLE" so I don't pick it up and when our Answering Machine asnswers, no message is left.

Same thing here.  They have called many times, but never leave a message.  I don't make a habit of answering "unavailable" numbers, but may have to answer this one to get them to stop calling.

Just got called by 1-888-398-2271 but I didn't answer because I was on another call.  I am on the "no call" list.  Shouldn't get junk calls.

American Communications Services Inc (ACSI) looking for donations to supply and support the troops in Iraq.

This is a telemarketing company that has been hired to collect donations for a variety of so-called charities.  This number is currently being used to solicit donations for the troops.  The truth is, only a very small portion (about 20 cents on the dollar will actually make its way to the charity.  The rest goes to the telemarketing company as a fee.  If you want to support the troops, I suggest going directly to the government or united way sponsored web sites to learn how to do this.  These companies are little more than thieves.

My answering machine picked up and the woman said "Hello" twice, and hung up.

Just so you know, non-profits or telemarketers working for non-profits are exempt from the "no-call list" rules. You have to read the whole thing.
