- packrat| 1 replyHave received several calls from a so-called company called "On Line Computer Care" (the last time - I think an earlier call gave me a different name, but I couldn't understand the person) telling me they have received 'reports' that my computer is 'running slow'. They don't want to give you their number, and have given me a fictitious number in the past and simply hung up on me when I asked for the number. They all speak English with an Indian accent with varying degrees of success - one was totally unintelligible. This has to be a scam. I don't think they are aware that I was an IS manager before I retired.
- Caller: On Line Computer Care (but the name varies)
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Kay replies to packratdid they call you again? They still seem to be calling and the number seems to be registered to a TCast Communication (along with several other numbers of differing area codes) but I don't know how valid that is.
- freddiejust got a call from this number at 8:06 pacific time. the guy with an Indian accent said his name was Nick Davis. Told me the same crap.
- SkepticGot a call from "Ron Wilson" just before 7 p.m. Pacific time 7/30/10 It's creepy that he knew my phone# and last name as I'm unlisted Makes me wonder how they are getting people's info--maybe stealing data from Qwest records.... I don't know. At the end of the call, he gave his contact info as 888-408-4117 ext 10368, but only after we requested it He spoke English well with a mild Indian accent. Said he was from Microsoft and that our computer was in trouble. He wanted us to go to a website, onlinedc or something like that to fix it. He got very impatient and abrupt when we refused. Thanks for previous posts--confirms our suspicions that this is a major scam.
- RicardoWe recieved a phone call oct 1st from an indian man claiming to work for Online PC Care, he was telling me a great story that there was somethiing wrong with my Windows. And that he got my phone number from Microsoft, becuase they were there primary On-Line support services. He said that when I go online that I am automaticly downloaded with special viruses that attack my operating systems. He said that I am not able to erase it with the normal Virus Scanner, he said that it was only a matter of time before my computer crashed and all my personal information was gone.
I am an Electrical Engineer and I know a great deal about computers and their operating systems. He was trying to convience me that my registry was being infected by a trojan horse ( he said at first that viruses were not attacking my computer ) and other computer viruses. His first lie, so I asked him what exactely is wrong with my computer, and why are you trying to access my computer Via Internet, you can download all my personal information with in a minute, he said that its not possible to steal information over the internet, ( such a lie ) so I decided to put an end to his B..S...t, I told him what I do for a living and that i need his company information, his name, Phone number and company permit. I told him that he was a lier and a scammer and I am reporting him to the FBI, I told him that my answering machine has been recording this entire conversation and even though he is in India, he will be arrested and jailed for robbing truste worthy people. He hung up on me, so called them back and told them they will be arrested! they hung up again..
Be careful they will ask you to run/execute a run command..do not do it...you will be automaticly connect (Via Internet to the scammers) to there server...- Caller: On-Line PC Care
- Toress WilliamHis name was Toress William, if I understood his Indian accent. He approached me using a scare tactic that my Windows PC is infected or may have problem right now. Without even validating that he belongs to a legitimate company, he kept urging me to turn on my computer immediately. Of course, not being a dumbass, I refused.
It's too much a co-incidence that my computer was actually infected that same day. So I am assuming he has backdoor access lowes.com or another legit website that might have been infected with his malware. My scanner found a rootkit laying around in my memory. By visiting the site, he not only attacked me by loading a malware into my computer (via javascript most likely) but also found my ip address, phone number, name, and probably home address.
For Mr. Toress William from Online PC Care to call me regarding my computer that is infected, means he was directly involved with this process. Basically, they are a hack & scam virus cleaning company.- Caller: Online PC Care

- angelI also received a call from them. This guy with a Middle Eastern accent said his name was Alex Cooper and he was calling to help me find out if Windows on my computer had a virus. I told him I couldn't go to my computer at that time and asked for the directions to do it on my own. He stated he couldn't do that but would call me back. I told him I would call him and he gave me this number and his name and said he would call back in two days.
I think they have called before and either hung up when I answered or hung up after hearing my toddler scream for my attention. It's just really annoying.- Caller: didn't say
- ryboyyes they called wanting to know what is the nature of my PC problem and that they were authorized by Microsoft to to assist in cleaning up issues with viruses and malware. I think it part of a process to confirm the DSL account so they can then launch an attack of some sort. Coincidence now my anit virus keep shutting itself off and my computer is running dog slow

Wanted me to get on my computer right now, because my operating system is sending out distress signals (not his exact wording, but close). Said they are technical support of windows o.s.. When I asked for company name, he said Online PC Care. So glad I checked here first. The first time he called, my husband answered and was about to follow their instructions until I stopped him.
