They called a few times but never left any messages. I finally answered and it was from the Lupus foundation, asking for clothing donations, saying they were going to be in the area for pick-ups.

1-888-445-8787 is from the Lupus Foundation.  They call constantly.  And always at breakfast or dinner time.

They want money to support their executive pay, limousines and $1000 dinners.

Keeps calling and hanging up if know picks up all hours. when I call back it says telephone Number temporarily out of order

Yes it's The Lupus Foundation's "Clothing Pick up" line. Call them and ask them to remove your name. and they will stop the calls.

If this truly IS a call from the Lupus Foundation..they are not doing their organization good.
They're annoying and because they leave no message-I consider it a bogus call.
I always look at my caller ID before picking up the phone...I know never to pick up an 888.

I get the same calls. When I pick up they hang up. Why call if you are just going to hang up. I caled back and told them to put me on their do not call list. Received one call after that. We'll see what happens.

Lupus Foundation . . .  calls ALL THE TIME!!!!

I called the number and ask to be put on Lupus' do not call list...she said she would and it would take 48 hours to become effective.

Yup -- nobody there (so it's an auto-dial) and no message, but call-back gets me their message  LupusPickup.org  please wait for an  operator.  How dumb is that.

It sounds like they need a better autodial system.  Anyone have $100K to donate to them to upgrade their phone systems?

I'm a little more forgiving to the non-profit charities as they don't have alot of money to invest in their phone systems.  However, the "financial services" calls are truly annoying.

Like Janie, I don't pick up '888' calls. I'm still amazed at how many junk calls I get even though I've been on the "do-not-call' list for a couple of years. Thanks to this site, I now know woh LFA Pickup Service is. I still won't pick up their annoying calls.

Caller said they were Apogee Retail a professional fundraiser for Lupus Foundation

The Do Not Call law says, if you are on its list, that a third party hired by a charity must stop calling you once you have asked them to stop, or pay a $16000 fine.

Thanks to your info, I went to Lupus Foundation website and asked them to stop.

I did this with another "charity" (NCC) about a week ago. Their calls have finally stopped, after months.
