call frequently, but do leave message.

Verizon Wireless. They are my phone company, but I'm never late or anything so my guess is it's a marketing call. I called it back to find out who/what it was. No message was left.

Googled this number first, found this page.  Called the number back to see if this was really Verizon.  NO.  It is a company "calling on behalf of Verizon".  I gave them my phone # and my name just to see if it was Verizon (sometimes they do ask to verify your number and name).  As soon as they asked for my password, I figured out it was a scam.  Guys, PLEASE be borderline paranoid with who you share your info with.  If it was really Verizon/credit card company/real company you do business with, they would NOT EVER ask you your password--it's in their policy.  (Verizon also said that they would NEVER have someone call on their behalf!!)  It's a scam to steal your info.  (Along with the emails warning you of exceeding your memory quota, and telling you to enter your account name, password, social security number, etc--this is how they can steal your identities!!)  You should ALWAYS go to the place in question in person to make sure they have indeed been calling you.  Customer service rep at Verizon verified that THIS IS A SCAM!!!!  Please, please, PLEASE do not give these people your confidential info!!

I have a receieved a few calls within the last week from this number, and at odd times of the day.

Got a call ... they asked for number and name.  Then hung up.

They first said "This is <mumbled> VERIZON!!"  I then asked her to repeat the company name and she just kept saying Verizon ... MF LIARS!!!

This is a RATE CHANGE third-party company.  They SAY that they want to lower your rates ... but when I called Verizon directly, they said that they can REROUTE your calls through THEIR system and then THEY control the rates for all calls and can go UP or DOWN at their choice.

AVOID THIS NUMBER !!!

The week of January 24-31, multiple calls from this number. I don't answer numbers that aren't identified by Called ID. No messages left.

Curious, how can they legally call when you're on the Do Not Call list?

I was informed by my roommate that I had gotten a call (on their cellphone!) from Verizon. I told them that it was a scam. Why would they call my roommate's cell to leave a message for me to call "them" instead of calling my phone. I found that to be odd.

they left a message on my phone saying i was eligible to upgrade my phone

Called my office number after hours and left no message. That number is NEVER called by anyone non-work related. Probably some kind of random dialer or scam, as others have indicated.

This is a marketing call from Verizon. They had me verify my mobile number, first and last name, and last 5 of my social. Then they told me that I was eligible for an upgrade to my phone.

Saw that I missed call from this number yesterday. Called it on my way from work last night. Automated response identified it as Verizon, and importantly allowed me the option to "press 1" and be removed from future solicitations.
