They told me they were an attorney firm trying to collect a debt????

Should I belive them?

got a call from this number saying they were getting ready to serve me with papers and if i'm not home after 3 tries..they will proceed to other means..what ever that mens

This people scared me but after talking to them it wasn't that bad we made arrangements and can't honestly complain right now. I did do my homework and verified everything was ligit before making the arrangement. Sometimes we just need to face the music.

Definitely Call them back. In our case, even though the message was in my name, I knew that I didn't have any outstanding debts.  They were looking for a relative that used our phone number and address before dumping the debit.   It's a good way to also make sure that with IDENTITY THIEF these days, that someone isn't using YOUR identity!

I called these people back - tried to make payment arrangement with them. Said i would mail them a money order as soon as i get home  They said no. I am on vacation - I don't carry credit cards and the woman who I spoke with said they ONLY accept credit cards for payment. She said that I need to give her my debit card number to my checking account, and I don't think that LEGALLY  they can require a debit card number be given.

So ... Since I have the entire phone call recorded, we can go to court. I have record that I TRIED to make payment arrangement. I have record that they said no.

The people are nice ... Until they don't get WHAT they want HOW they want it.

They are a collection agency trying to recover payment on old credit card debt that was probably charged off by the original creditor. Although they may be a legitimate collection agency, their practices of trying to scare you into calling them back is against the law....in any state. They are in violation of your rights according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act on several counts. They are not a law firm, they do not have the ability to deliver a summons to appear in court to your home, employer or relative. There is no judgment filed against you. You most likely owe an old debt that was never paid, that's it. They will most likely be pleasant when you call them back until you say you can't or won't pay the debt they show you owe. They can be sued for their illegal attempts to recover a debt.

THESE PEOPLE CALLED ME SAYING I OWED A DEBT WHICH I DO OWE BUT I DONT HAVE $4000 TO PAY UP FRONT AND THEY TOLD ME THE PAYMENT I OFFERED THEM WOULD NOT BE ACCEPTED SO CAN THEY REALLY TAKE ME TO COURT OR GARNISH MY PAY CHECK?

The messages here have been very helpful...explains a lot. They can't possibly be legit...I don't owe any debt and there is no judgements, etc. against me. They should be stopped. Some of you that have replied or are "working' with them need to get a lawyer! I am saddened by how many people are just too nice and will fall prey to their scare tactics. Let's just say they better not call me again!

DO NOT fall for it and if some one says they did have to go to court it was only due to their own stupidity because they brought fourth the situation upon themselves.

If they do call you again, answer the phone saying something like; Welcome to the gay search hot line, (if a woman is on the phone) ask them what type of woman are they looking for? (a guy then reverse it.)

Then tell them we are your number logged in our phone logger, we will had your number to a call list and text service!

Keep [***] with them,,, in any ways you can and stick to the script not letting them get much word in other wise.

If your not comfortable using the gay date tactic, come up with your own!!!

PEOPLE...era is not registered with the BBB....that means there a scam company.
FAFA...very smart that you didn't pay with your debit card,,if they don't accept money orders then don't pay them,they want your cc card number or debit card and i bet when you go to the ATM to withdraw some money it will say..FUNDS UNAVIABLE THE LOW LIFE SLEAZY DEBT COLLECTION  COMPANY ERA TOOK ALL OF YOUR MONEY FROM YOU.

I just received a message from a Mrs. Clark from this number stating that I was going to be served with papers at either my home or place of business.She even left me a "case #". She said I had a 2 hour window to respond. I called the number she left and an old man with an accent answered and had no idea what i was talking about. Total scam!!!!!!

These people took money from my sister's account should she cancel the card or have the bank stop payments from ERA?? Will some on please advice??

I have been getting this call for months. It is either Ms Voss or Ms Kennan. Seriously i wish they would get lost.....

My mother received messages on her land line which no one uses saying they were trying to serve me and she called back to get information about my "case number" which isn't even a legit case numb with any WA court. They said they needed to serve me. Talked me into setting up a payment plan with them. First I was speaking with "Madison Moore". Then some jack ass named "Jacob/Jake". Ive been making payments foolishly and they've been doubling up my payments and charging my mother on her card (I had to use her card to set up the payment plan in "good faith" because I'm a starving student and don't have an income). THIS IS A SCAM. I LEARNED THE HARD WAY! I was told two weeks ago I wouldn't have to make any more payments and today "Jake" called to say they made a mistake. That my contract was still valid. I was still liable for the debt. When I disagreed with him he said I was being abusive and strong arming him and he was going to press charges against me then I'd go to jail and my credit would be ruined because I wouldn't be able to finish making payments...etc. He said they would allow me extra time to make the payments because he was trying to "help me." They don't have a web site. They use an "answering service" who when asked questions laughs in the phone at you. They use 5 different numbers 8884906958, 9174775381, 8884906964, 8886620490 and 8888806930. Something needs to be done to stop these people. Thank goodness my bank has fraud protection. Had to cancel my card and file a report against them with Bank of America. Don't fall for their BS. Oh and the account that I apparently had a debt with- has not been satisfied with any "law firm" and they have no idea who ERA and Associates are.

YES! CANCEL THE CARD. OR THEYLL KEEP CHARGING YOU FOREVER
