The call stated "we" registered a tax fraud case against you and to discuss call back to the above number.  Clearly a fraud without using the CRA or Constable X from the RCMP scams this time.  Everyone receiving such a call should report it and just maybe it will show enough complaints to bring police action.

I just got a call from that same 8884954501 but was talking and didn't answer. I googled it and it directed me to the rcmp fraud section. Wondering what this is. Can anyone tell me

Got a call from this 8884958501 and claimed she is calling from chinese immigration  office regarding an important document.....

Got a call from this number and claimed to be a Chinese officer from the China Consulate (中国大使馆). She spoke in Chinese I think. I speak Chinese so we communicated. Frist the voice told me that I have received a file. Then, she said if I want further information, press 1. Then I did. Another male voice picked up. He asked if I knew my file number, and of course I didn't. Then, he asked my name, I gave him my real name in Chinese and English. Then he said he got my file and it turns out someone named Yun Wang (王云) was caught in Beijing on July 25th (2017), and the police found my name on one of the credit cards he was carrying. He then asked me if I knew the guy and if I had ever sold my credentials or my credit card to him, I said no. Then he asked me if I have ever given my private info to anyone, I said yes. But I just felt very suspisious and he sounded almost too "nice," so when he asked me if I had any questions for him, I just hung up and quickly blocked the number before they start asking me to send money. Also, Mandrain is NOT an offical language in Canada and the Canadian government would usually give me a choice to choose the language I want to speak to if I call to emergencies (numbers such as 911), but I didn't even choose the language, so how do they know I speak Chinese? It is certainly werid (also, to be a Canadian, people should be able to speak English or French, and it's werid they just speak Chinese to me instead of English right away). Then, I searched online and it turns out 1-888-495-8501 is the Canadian Anti-fraud Centre (CAFC), which is werider because they appearantly don't ever call to people. 1-888-495-8501 is the number to call to REPORT scams, but this number does not call to the victims, according to the official website. (http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/scams-fraudes/rep-sig-eng.htm) ALSO, 1-888-495-8501 IS NOT the China Consulate number, and it has nothing to do with Chinese Canadians. I think the frauds have a new technology that they can call from special numbers such as government official numbers, so stay alert people.

I know it just sounds so real, like, it might be the actual police, BUT, once again, I DID NOT choose the language to speak to, but they just speak to me in Chinese right away. When people are contacted by Canadin government officials, they don't speak Mandrain (because it takes too much tax I think, and totally unneccessary). (Multiple languages are avilable when people are calling to emergencies.) So if you receive a call FROM 888-495-8501, it's a scam.

Same as others - googled the number and supposedly the Canadian Government anti fraud line.  Odd that the caller was Chinese, not English or French.

Got a call few minutes ago somebody talking to me in mandarin,  it's a scam.  Just hang up.

These [***] called me before and ate stupid .. you also can phone your local RCMP and report this number, they will follow with prosecution.

It sounds like somebody trying to steal your information by pretending they are officers of the government best thing to do go to a pay phone and call the number that way it's not on your phone and then take action from there

You'd be surprised how many fake governments internet pages there are as well as internet fraud sites unfortunately I got on one of those and was not fun. The point is do not use your phone go to a pay phone and call that number.

I got a recent call from that same number as well and my phone keeps alerting me suspected spam just be careful what you do with it.

I have been called by this # ive been spoofed and the hacker talked for 2mins. My identity has been stolen and he tried using my card at amazon but they we suspicious and put a stop. This is my 3rd card and my credit card is not active till i call, ive spoken to great people and there are notes abd codes on my account, even tho they know hes is listening. 2phone mode. Knew something was up when i got home from the hospital and while on the operating room table 118 texts were sent and i had snapchat,twitter,tictoc and some other thing. He got in by gmail, google said, they also said their employees were hacked twice in gmail, they provided a security key but didnt tell us. The lady at the bank said people are flocking in after their cards have been comprimised after they were hacked. Googles response, delete your account off phone&tablet use computer. They cant make an off/on button but an app 1Passwords that cannot be uninstalled. Be careful, these creeps in their moms basement work together!
