We received a mailer with the number 888-639-6990 as a contact. We called and were told we would receive a free laptop computer if we went to a 60-90 minute sales pitch.  We went to the Hampton Hotel in Anchorage Alaska and listened  to the presentation -the company involved is Travel To Go.  Travel To Go  is a scam.  We listened for 60 minutes to the sales pitch, got a personal sales pitch twice and then sat for 30 minutes waiting for our "free computer."  At this point we were told they were out of computers despite the fact that they had two more planned seminar sessions that day.  We were told more computers were being ordered or they could mail us a computer. We were told -rather shadily-to return to the Hampton Hotel on Thursday to pick up the "computer."  No place to get the computer or contact name was given,  After pressing for details we were assured that Travel To Go would still be at the hotel on Thursday, but I have my doubts.  The scam is they want you to spend between 2000 (low end) up to 10,000 for membership in a travel club which supposedly gets you discounts that justify their upfront fee.  This from a business that can't even fulfill its basic deal.  The deal was I listen fro 90 minutes and get a free laptop computer (granted laptop computers can be found online for as little as $144.00). Well we listened for 90 minutes and got NOTHING!!!!    Unless you have tons of vacation time and/or LOVE cruises don't bother with this scam because it won't pay off.  even then it won't pay off according to all the complaints about Travel To Go that I have now read. And they claim great customer service! HA!

I got a postcard with a united airlines logo at the top of the card almost as if it was sponsored by the airlines. It stated "In celebration of our anniversary...", I called the same number and was promised 2 round trip tickets for 3 days and 2 nights at a Marriott or Holiday Inn if we attended a 60-90 minute presentation about Top Notch Travel a new full service travel agency starting up in our area.  Although they said the company has been around for years and the presentation was not a time share just information about their new to the area company. Jeanna at extension 105 said that they hoped we'd use them for all our travel after the presentation.  She asked our names and if we were married and did we make over $50,000. a year in combined income.  Why would you ask if you weren't selling something?  I'm not interested in buying into any vacation aka time share deal.  If it was a new company why wouldn't you have the presentation at your new location?  Sounds fishy to host it at the Hilton Garden Inn near the airport in Warwick.  After reading other posts I think I can figure out what's going on and won't be wasting my time.  Also I couldn't find any company in RI registered under that name.

Got the same postcard with United logo.  Since I work for United I immediately knew it was a scam.  I'm sending this to the company legal department to take legal action against these scammers.

    Dave,

Got the same postcard.  Let me know if you want me to send it (or a pdf of it) to you.  I figured it was a scam when I saw it.

I practice law in Massachusetts and it became personal when I saw the postcard had a MA return address.  If United is going after these crooks, please let me know if I can help.

Things are tough enough in this economy without con artists giving people false hope

Hi, I too was taken by this "so called" travel agency.  We received a birthday celebration in the mail, we called them and set up an appointment to meet with them. My fiancee and I went to a presentation on Saturday in Warwick, RI and listened to a 90 minute presentation.  We had been advised that we were to receive a netbook (laptop computer) and a $300 coupon for Walmart.  The low end of the deal was $2,000, and high end was $9000 to become a member.  I found it strange that 3 people came to speak to us including the owner; and he reduced the price to $2000 to try and sell us this membership. He sat with us for an additional 15 minutes.  When we refused his offer, we were advised that we could collect our gifts (already told several times that they were there awaiting for us), but when we went outside the room, the sales person said: "I fibbed, I said that you would be getting your gifts, but we just ran out of the laptops.  We will be receiving more in on Monday and we will ship them out to you no later than June 14th, but you will receive them. If you don't then you can call us at this number..."  She then handed us a paper that stated we would be mailed the gifts.  We didn't even leave with the $300 food voucher from Walmart.  It was then that I suspected a scam operation.  I am just thrilled that we did not invest in that company and only wasted a few hours of our time.  Never again!

Received postcard saying I have been selected to receive 2 rd trip airfares on southwest if I call that number. The same info on the postcard claims not a time share or land sale offer.  In the corner bottom
in small print it has a site called webpaper.com/716  which doesn't exist.  I was told the slash and number indicates it was created for scamming people.  It also says seller of travel and the postmark
is out of Tampa, Fl permit #78.  Thanks for all who posted, it is a good way to help each other know
about this kind of junk going around......:>)

    8/9/11   THANK YOU!
Got the postcard with offer of two Southwest Airlines tickets & $50 Expedia Gift Card- Yes, same m.o. when I called same "you & your husband must attend, this week only, must have household income over $60,000- 60 to 90 minute presentation" this would be held in Oceanside, CA in a Plaza.
I suspected scam- but since we are Southwest Airlines travelers- thought it might be worth it- my husband said to make the call.  After the call I looked up the company name 'World Wide Luxury Travel'- got nowhere with that- then tried the 888-639-6990 number and found out all I needed to know- that this is a scam. Thank you everyone!

Well, for what it's worth, my wife and I went. Sounded like a great deal! However, we are in too much debt, to pay out that kind of money for a membership.

We DID receive a netbook (junk, but what would you expect for free?It does work tho......) and a voucher for 2 free tickets.
We have not yet sent in the voucher. I'll let u know how that works out.

I glad I recently started to use the web for a lot of information! Received post card today for my birthday! Free trip aboard southwest airlines. Just call us. The picture of the airplane has my name and initials on it. I though they go to a lot of trouble to send me a free trip. Sure glad I searched the number. Now the only time I spent is reading these posts  and typing this post. Thanks for taking the time to post all these comments.

We got the card too Nick and live in the Shelton area. I was going to call because we are southwest travelers and just returned in July from a southwest trip. Thanks to all who posted and looked into this further. It just baffles me that people actually try to make a living by scamming other people. Disgusting!
