I got a call on my work voicemail today saying "this is Von from the General Revenue Corporation in regards to a personal business matter.  Please call us back at 888-710-6819 and reference # XXXXXX).  This is irritating, because I just got a new job and I want to know how they got my new work number.

From other reports I've seen, and from my own experience with them, they usually say they got your number through an old friend of yours.  They don't always call people who owe them money either, which is odd.  They've also been known to ask for your personal data (address, number, etc.), information they should already have.  At this point, it's questionable whether they're a legitimate company collecting debts or not.

This COLLECTION AGENCY is calling my Cell phone - and I am not the person they're even looking for! I called them and have requested for them to stop calling my Cell phone, chewing up my time and that I am NOT this person.
I filed a complaint with "Do Not Call" meanwhile, they still call.
This is harassment, right? Don't I have grounds for a lawsuit?

I'm 99% sure this is a scam with a "we don't want to divulge personal information" cover. They ask for your SSN in the first 10 seconds of the phone call. I gave them a nice piece of my mind and all of a sudden some how she "already knows my SSN and asks me to verify" she gave me some [***] number and I told her that that was incorrect. Then she tries to get smart with me and says "see if you the John ****** we were looking for you wouldn't want me to be divulging personal information that's why we need a social security number"... *cricket* *cricket* *chirp chrip* HEY DUMB ASS YOU JUST GAVE ME THEIR SSN! (I also could have easily said that was my SSN and listened to this oh so personal information). She also asked to confirm an address which was way the hell in LA. So if this is a real company this idiot should be fired because she just gave me someone's SSN, address, and the person has the same name as me apparently.

said we were a contact reference for someone.  "General Revenue".

Do not call them back, it is a low end collector.

GRC :: Some kind of loan people about borrowing "cheap" money. Do I hear FRAUD!

I have received several phone calls on my cell from 888-710-6819. Brittany (if that is her real name) said she is with General Revenue Corporation out of Indiana. She said that if I got the call then I owe money! What a _ _ _ _ _ _ _ liar! These phone calls cost me money on my cell. I am going to send a complaint to the Attorney General of Indiana about this, provided it is really in Indiana.

If you can prove you told them to not call you, then you have ground for a lawsuit especially if you do not owe the money

Just have a bunch of phony information ready for them, especially a fake SSN, but lots of made-up stuff. Enjoy the fun. No consequences for you.

Homo robo-callers asking for donations and new members

Called and left message on our company general voicemail asking for Payroll and leaving a "reference number" - no mention as to the name of their company or the reason for their call.  Saw on 1-800notes and this website that they are bill collectors.  Whatever, I just blocked them on our Virtual PBX system.  Losers!
