My caller ID said "TOLL FREE CALL".  
The message was for someone with my same last name, but with a different first name that started with the same initial as mine.    
It said   "You have been named as a person of interest in an important matter.   You need to contact us immediately or decisions will be made without your knowledge.  Press '1' to be connected with our office or call us back at 8887625195, ext. 1."

I put them on my call blocker and am reporting them to my state AG.

I have received a few messages on my home phone in the past few weeks as well.  The message is always the same as jms25 - calling for someone with a different first name but same last name.  You have been names as a person of interest in an important matter.  You need to contact us immediately or decision will be made without your knowledge.  The contact number is the same - 888-762-5195 x1.  I'm glad I found this - I won't call back.

I have received a few messages on my cell phone in the past few weeks from (306) 317-5770. The calls appear to be automated and from a debt collection company (name, unknown) (learned this from comments posted on your site against the 888-762-5195 number in the message that was left (see below). I don't owe any bills, let alone overdue ones, and I only give my cell number out to family members. The message that is left is, "This call is (exclusively or expressly) left for 'A (mumble, munble) gre.' "You have been named as a person of interest in an important matter. You need to contact us immediately or decisions will be made without your knowledge. Press '1' to be connected with our office or call us back at 888-762-5195,
ext. 1." Except for the 'A' and the 'e,' the spelling is not even close to my name.

I am going to report this to my state AG and the FCC.

you are so wrong here. First of all, all you need to do is call back and tell them they have the wrong number. lol. you dont need to run and cry to the AG. like they want to deal w your petty complaint. second --- cell phone numbers that may have been a old number for a debtor can still be linked. so yes sometimes wrong numbers are contacted . stop being a baby! seriously.

well if u dont call back and they have the wrong number you will continue to be called because who ever had your old number is still linked to it or they WOULDNT be callin it!!! COMMON SENSE!!!!!

Here's message I received, I then re-recorded it and deleted from answering machine..:
This call is intended for (insert name). My name is (sounded new so I won't print her name this time). I'm contacting you from Cornerstone Resolution Group. I am looking to serve notice on record. I'm actually required by law to notify you in regards to some actuation being made against you in reference to a claim pending in our office. It is (???) contact me back if you like to make a statement on behave of your defense. If I do not hear from you within 48 hours I will assume you do not wish to handle this matter on a volunteer basis. (Garbled) will be forwarded out as a direct refusal to handle your legal obligations. My direct contact number is 888-762-5195 ext xxx. When calling in refer to your pending case #xxxxxx…. Thank you

I am getting calls from CALLER ID display 716-809-8277 from a Mr Bryant that I have been named as a person of interest in a pending investigation and to call 1-866-325-0893 and reference case ###.   Now to me this is a pond scum collection agency to use a term like 'person of interest' to make you think it's a legal matter and you've done something illegal and making you think they're police officers.  I wonder if the state Attorney General's office would be interested in this?

Why are these bottom feeders allowed to get away with these tactics?  Isn't that impersonating a police officer .... blah blah blah???

We have received several calls from Cornerstone Resolution Group and they have said the same thing to us. We don't owe any money and they have the wrong name. We have been told that they are taking legal action to settle this, I have been told that we called them to settle this, again I have told them we are not the person they are looking for and do not know this person. My next step will be to take action on our end including but not limited to contacting the state AG and perhaps to move forward with civil legal action against the firm and their callers.

I get calls with the same threats - legal action, have sent me legal documents, no other choices, gives case number, different return phone numbers with 1 - 888, etc.
I have no idea. Returned call and phone box won't take any more as it is full.
This is some kind of hoax.  I will call the KS State Attorney General and file some protest.

Calls about needing to return call to avoid legal action; sometimes indicates legal documents were sent to my home and work but I have failed to respond. I return call, box too full to accept messages.

I am sure it is a scam.

Phone numbers were:  1888-907-3631   (most recent)  and 1-888-650-7873 with a case # but unintelligible info except it was a laison with some co.  same spiel about legal action, etc.-
