888-774-2004

Voice message claims to be from the Awards Claim Center in Portland, ME. (Caller-ID revealed 843-285-0302 SUMMERVL, SC) Asked me to call Mark Young at 888-774-2004 - implied that I should call ASAP - either before he left within the next 2 hours, or first thing tomorrow @ 9 am. It was past his stated time when I called, but "Mark Young" answered his phone.

Said he was verifying an entry from the Cool Car Cold Cash giveaway and that I am a finalist in a drawing next week. Had my first initial and last name (which could be either of two family members), wrong marital status and income level (for either). "Doesn't matter," he says. "I'm just verifying the phone number in case you win next week." (Yeah, right ...)

When I asked who was running the contest he said it was "Festiva." I asked whether I might have entered this contest online and he said sometimes when you buy something on a credit card, you are automatically entered. (I rarely use a credit card ...)

Don't think I revealed critical information - (gave my first name - oops) - except confirming a live phone listing - but I did wonder whether this was some kind of phishing scheme. I do sometimes enter contests - using only my first initial (cautious of my name and number being sold to databases), but I might've tripped up this time. Dang!

I Google-d the number - owned by NuVox Communications - acquired in 2010 by Windstream Communications (telemarketer), "Festiva" is either a small Ford vehicle - or a resort company (selling timeshares).

Also got called by probably the same guy or same company as the previous person. On the voicemail (left around 6:30pm), the guy, John Carmen, said that my name was drawn and I should call him back at this 888 number or a "local" number, 843-485-0302 (located in Georgetown, not too far from Summerville) by 10pm. I didn't, so I guess missed out on my prize. lol

Also got called by the same guy.  On the voicemail (left around 2:00pm), the guy, John Carmen, said that my name was drawn in a cash prize drawing and I should call him back at this 888-774-2004 or a "local" number, 843-485-0302 (located in Georgetown, not too far from Summerville) by 10pm.

Also got a call tonight with the same story form a "john Carmen"  Urged that I call back at 888-774-2004 before 9 PM ..he called at 5 pm and left message on phone service I no longer answer but that is in phone book.
Glad to hear that none of you seem to have claimed "my prize" ...LOL    Doesn't it make you curious trying to figure out how these folks make a living ...and just who John Carmen is....( seemed nice enough in the message,. maybe this is just his night job.)

I also got a call yesterday from 888 774 2004 (I'm in the southern Maine area).  John Carmen asked to call him back by 10 pm because I had won an entered drawing. I assumed it was a scam so I looked the number up and found this forum. Let's hope no one falls for this scam.

I received a message to call John Carmen at 1-888-774-2004 saying a was drawn as winner of "cash reward".
said it was from Edison NJ. I did not call back based on internet search of number.

Same thing. John Carmen calls and claims he needs me to call him back before 9pm to claim my prize. Says he is from NJ. He only had my first name. I didn't call him back. If not scam then must be a sales call.

Got a call tonight twice today, one for us and one for my adult daughter. What a freaky coincidence. We both won!  I hope John Carmen won't be disappointed if I don't call him back.
