- julie| 8 repliesI got a letter w/ letterhead Finn & Gilliam; no return address; saying I had won $1,400 towards airfare for two. Confirmaion #8940; need to reply by March 17.2010. This is the number given to contact them. A different phonenumber website said many had gotten this letter with them same details.
- EricJust got the same letter with the same confirmation number. Must be a scam!!!!!!!!
- MikeSame as above with same confirmation number. I assume this is a scam since I have never heard of company offering the award. I wish someone would call the number and see what kind of scam this really is.
- Caller: Finn and Gilliam ?
- Bill| 2 repliesHave these idiots ever heard of the internet?
Strike 1 - No return address on envelope
Strike 2 - No address on the letter head
Strike 3 - No webpage...
Who tries to run a scam these days without a webpage... Why go through the expense of mailing a letter without having a web presence to back up the letter. People this stupid should be shot.
It's hilarious that they can't even provide a random number for the confirmation. It really seems like some scam artist is just getting out of jail after being locked away in solitary for 20 years and has never heard of computers or the internet! Hahahah!
The best part is mail fraud is a Federal offense so WHEN they get caught they'll get locked up for another 20 years! - Terry replies to BillLets make sure this thread comes up first in search results.
Finn & Gilliam
Confirmaiton No. 8940

I agree with Bill, they're too stupid for jail. Shoot em'! - brianI received the same letter, called them and just spoke with them. This is a marketing company that works on behalf of travel agencies, time-share properties, resorts, etc. They schedule appointments on behalf of their clients, and when you call this number they will ask you "qualification verification" questions (seems that nearly everyone qualifies... surprise!) and then book you for an appointment to go hear a 90-minute presentation on time-share properties (in this case). The confirmation number tells them which part of the country you're in and which of their clients sent you the letter. The plane ticket offer is legitimate, provided you go and attend their presentation.
- Caller: None
- Call type: Telemarketer
- scottfree replies to julie| 2 repliesAre you people all BRAINDEAD ?
This is a incredibly inept (maybe not ...) bill collection scheme.
These people contacted you by mail because you are delinquent and irresponsible with your finances. (You havent paid a bill, credit card, loan, bank, etc. etc. and you are hiding from them!) They have tried to contact you and you are hiding behind your answering machine, caller ID or whatever. How better to FINALLY get the creditor on the phone than to tell them they've WON SOMETHING? DUH ! - scottfree| 2 repliesAre you people all BRAINDEAD ?

- Joe replies to scottfreeScottfree ARE YOU BRAINDEAD? It is a telemarketer not a bill collector. Way to make an assumption.
- circlethe company that is persuing you is a company that is marketing condominiums in rockland maine. i called the number and this is no scam really. in fact, it is true that if you go down and attend the 90 minute seminar in rockland, you really do get the airline tickets. whether you buy or not the company plays the odds that you will buy a week at the timeshares. interestingly enough, i live remotely in this area and actually worked on the first round of units a couple years ago as a sub contractor. so, the tour is real and so are the tickets. if you can endure the pressure for a couple hours, go for it.
- Caller: finn and gilliam
- Jude replies to julieOf course it's a scam!! We all have the confirmation code 8940. Anyone who believes they win $1400 in air travel from a company with no return address deserves to get scammed. This type of mail is why stores sell shredders.
- northernson| 2 repliesThis is probably legit... But these real estate presentations are so boring and difficult that they aren't worth 1400, plus who would trust that their whole vacation/trip wouldn't be screwed up by some weird plane ticket arraignment. I won't do it, plus I don't want to leave Maine.Take your chances if you want, most people know in their gut when things aren't right. Right?

- PamelaThese people Finn and Gilliam are very stupid. I too got the letter. And checked the internet. When it sounds too good to be true then it is!
- Caller: Finn & Gilliam
