Rec'd letter,plain envelope,hand addressed,no return address, stamp not cancelled,from Mark Sims VP Travel Awards Division of "brooks spade" with no office address. Says I qualified for award of $1,400 roundtrip aifare for two and to call 888-844-1631. Confirm # 2613. Believe may be scam as caller ID shows no calls from this number even though letter says they tried to contact me.

Received same letter with confirm the same no address. Seems like this is common and has been reported with other 888 numbers for Brooks Spade

Rec'd a letter today with this phone number from brooks spade (Header not capitalized; with a rocket ship inbetween the name). Letter states that I have qualified for an "award" of roundtrip airfare for two, Retail Value up to $1,400.00. I called the number and a person answered saying, "Hello, this is Vicky. May I help you?" I didn't want to go into it so I told her I had the wrong number. It states that they have been trying to contact me several times with no success. I haven't received one phone call from them. Envelope is hand written and stamp not cancelled. Confirm # 2613. Seems like so many people are getting these. Who can we report this to? Obviously a scam to rip off people.

i received the identical scam letter today as well.  I would suggest letting the U.S.Postal Inspection service know so they can track and potentially respond

I received the same letter from brooks spade. I agree it's some kindda scam. Now if this was brooks HEART, I may call back since I am ALL HEARTS ;)

iot's not local -- I go tthe same letter today and live in SC.  The "letter head" includes SC as one of the "locations" for this "busniess"

Received the same letter and attempted to dial using *67, to hide my phone number.  However, the call would not go through.

Just called the number and lady told me she was an appointment booking company for various travel agencies and companies.  I would be given the trip if I went to the required siminar.  Oh, and the tax on the whole trip would also be my responsibility.  Checked with BBB and it is legitimate if they disclose this info freely.  So, as consumers we should rightfully be wary.

I received the same letter. I live in Beaufort, SC. What concerns me is not so much that its a scam, but so much that how did these people get my name and address? I'm not listed in ANY phone book! Does that concern anyone else?

I received the same letter today, I live on Hilton Head Island, SC. This is most likely a "come-on" to sell you something. I trashed it. The letter was as others described with my address handwritten to make it look personal. Mark Sims, Vice President Travel Awards Division signed his name "Mark".

I guess they are targeting NY, Mass., Pa., Illinois, Wash., Colorado and SC, maybe there is something in these state laws or lack of regulations that they can get away with whatever they are trying do do.

No one has tried to call me about this award of roundtrip airfare for two. I guess I didn't win the award, only qualified to win. Fat chance that would happen.

I have been using this against telemarketers for years.  For just a few dollars you can make you phone number appear as any number you want (including theirs).  This way you can tell them exactly how you feel about them calling (if you know what I mean).  Just don’t give a confirmation # or any other info that will ID you.  Also has a very good voice lie detector option (very accurate).  Enjoy dishing it back.

I also live in Bluffton, SC...same letter today.  I am way to suspicious to begin with and as soon as I saw it I knew it wasn't legit but wanted to check it out and do a google search.  Interesting info.

I called the number to try to get some more information from them.  They said the local group offering the promotion was "Hilton Head International Travel Club" Of course they wouldn't provide any further information without me giving them mine.

I live in Tybee Island, GA (near Savannah).  Same letter, conf # 2630. Looked suspicious adn "too good to be true".  Letter going into my recycle bin - will then be good for something
