Just got a call from 888-865-4968...said they was a WC Group...told me sheriff was gonna come and give me papers from a debt i owed years ago? They wanted payments each week from my debit card or i will go to court....but....i didnt give them any personal information, went to look them up on line and i come to this page?...& there is no WC Group on line.....hmmmmm

I just got a call from 888-865-4968 telling me that my daughter is involved in a case of fraud and could I give her this number to call.
I asked the name of the company and why they don't have her current phone number since she has not lived in my house for 5 year; she told me WC Group and said that this is the contact number from the company that has said she is committing fraud.
I know what this is about...it's a company that "bought the bill" from the original creditor. I also know that my daughter is under no obligation to pay these people a dime as we have already spoken to an attorney. Not one cent of any money paid would go to the the company that was owed the money in the first place, nor would it remove the issue from her credit report.
If I'm not mistaken, it was illegal for this woman to tell me what the call was regarding due to privacy laws. I'll give my daughter the number, but only so she can call them and tell them one more call and she is filing harassment charges!

received a call from Donna Buck stating that she is a Litigation officer.

Got offended when I asked for hard copies of papers and when I asked for their company information. She then proceeded to tell me that I will not find anything on their company if I googled them and also suggested that I googled their phone number (in a sarcastic tone).

Luckily I did.

I got the same call, she was very nice, i found out that they are a litagation office, and you  should pay your bill or will probably end up in court they are a ligitamit company giving you a second chance

A litigation office would send paperwork in the mail, as required by the court of jurisdiction....

I've heard from these guys too, and they're the latest in a long line frankly.

For those who are worried that the law is about to show up at your door, or your loved one's door, please rest assured.

This is what's known as a 'junk debt' collector. They buy old debt--debt that you or yours probably did incur once upon a time. They buy it from the original creditor for pennies, and then try to collect as much as possible from you. In doing so, they cross the line into illegality very frequently, which is why you should report any calls you get to your State Attorney General's office. The BBB can do you no good here.

Know that you ARE NOT obligated to pay them a cent.

Know that if you DO, the original creditor will receive nothing. They have written off the debt and sold it to these chimps. It is already on your credit report----and in fact, may be past the statute of limitations already.

Know that you must NEVER give them any of your personal or financial info.

Want them to leave you alone? Demand that they send you written verification of the debt(spolier: They won't). Once that demand is made, they must either comply, or stop calling you under penalty of harassment.

But if you're bored, you can have great fun with these guys. Made my afternoon. ;)

I JUST HEARD FROM THEM TOO! I got a voice mail message from MRS WALSH and she instructed me to call this number saying she had important legal documents for me. I called the number and got MR Turner. He was actually very nice but I was adamant in saying that I thought I did settle this account in 2005. He had a copy of some sort of paperwork listing all other accounts that I had settled at that time. He said that he was going to call Sheriff's office to hold off on sending me the summons for 24 hours while I try to find my settlement letter. The original debt isn't even showing on my credit report anymore and hasn't been for a long time and that was why I was so shocked at the thought of being sued. I'm supposed to call tomorrow to let him know if I want to try and settle the debt.  Now I'm even more confused. I just want proof that I still owe.

just a follow up to my last post. i called them back today in order to ask for a notice of validation of this debt. the person answered the phone Legal Dept. i asked to be transferred to ext 211 i gave her my case #. she then got back on the line and asked for the number again i gave it to her. she got on the phone again and told me that he was in court and she would transfer me to his voice mail!!!  YAH RIGHT! under the law they are required to send me a notice within 5 days of this contact that they do own my account and i owe them money. i'll wait and go from there. if they do send me info i'll have the address to send my letter of validation. but since this account is from 2004 the statute of limitations is up and they would not win a judgement in court.

i just got a call from this number on my cell phone.  It showed up as a privite number but Ms Walsh left me a message too.  It kinda freaked me out but then my friend said its against the law in tx to harrass me.  After reading everyone elses post now I'm afraid that they will contact my family members.  what should I do????? I dont want to call them back...

They called my parents looking for my brother stating they would send someone over to issue a subpoena in a couple of hours if he didn't tell them where he was and how they could get in touch with him.  They told them they would have to go to court and swear before a judge as to where he was and that they really didn't know.

Needless to say no one showed up.....

I'm glad I googled to find out the situation.

My husband just received a voicemail from Ms. Dolbe saying that there are some legal documents being sent to the county clerk and that if I have any questions based on this to call this number with my case number within 24 hours and they'll make an appointment with me.

What I don't understand is...

I went to my county clerk page. NOTHING on me was in there (besides my marriage license). Bogus? After reading this, I think SO.


I'll definitely be having fun with them tomorrow, if they call.

hey check this out i dont even know how they got the number but this collection place pretended to be holding legal documents and asked if i was living in a group hm all i can say is thank god i found this site

THIS COMPANY IS GETTING OUT OF HAND.I change my home phone to private to stop these harrassing calls! Well guess what they did, they called my husbands place of employment! thats it, im filing a complaint with attorney generals office!

We were contacted over the weekend via: a neighbor.  The WCG company had the nerve to call a stranger to contact us.  This is going too fare.  To share personal information with a person who doesn't know us is wrong. The neighbor left a note on my door this is how I found out about the call.  What ever happend to sending mail?  I am contacting the Attorney General in our state to issue a complaint.

I agree this company is out of control  and someone has got to do something about it.  Perhaps I will call CNN also.

I have read all of the remarks on this message board.  Also, I know the Federal Consumer Protection laws inside and out, the WC Group is an agency that purchases bundled bad debt and then uses unlawful, illegal measures to try to collect.  If you are saying that they are working within the limits of the law then you must work for them.  How sad!

I just received a call from WC group yesterday. They told me I had a credit card debt from 2006. I owed 1895.00 but they will settle for 850.00 including court costs.  David Carter told me that I had 24 hours to recieve the papers through my email and had to send them back right away so they can charge my debit card... otherwise I would have to pay it all in full. And there will be an officer at my door. I just got an eerie feeling. I looked it up and nothing was found but negative crap... I am a middle class mother of three ( one who is severely handicapped ) My life if hard enough without thinking I am going to get in trouble...I don't have any credit cards and not sure this one is even mine..... I told them to send me proof through the mail. I would have my lawyer look at it and get back to them. He said he would rather talk to my lawyer himself.. I then said just send me the paperwork proving I owe you money. Then I am sure he will be in contact with you. Then he hung up and hasn't tried to call and I called Sheriff's office and there is no summons as of now. I will worry about it when I see some proof...

Received cell phone call from this number and spoke with a Linda Shaprio regarding a debt of my son's whom I haven't had contact with for a few years.  Ms Shapiro told me that I am a secondary contact person and a subpoena could be issued for me to appear in court regarding my son's claim/case against him.  Also told me that private investigators and legal counsel are looking for my son which is fine but I have nothing to do with his legal matters.
