It is a scam for payday loan companies. Do not send them any money and they are not lawyers. They are scumbags who will threaten you with jail and other things, but twhat they are doing is illegal. Do not answer them.

I received a phone call from 904-418-5000 about a month ago, saying that they are with an attorney's office trying to collect a debt that I had from a payday loan. The first person I spoke with said his name was Jacob Goldstein and if I didn't send them the amount due today, they would courier my information to my county (I am in Texas) and the police would show up at my job or home and arrest me. Afterwards, he transferred me to his "Superior" a Mr. John Lewis who repeated the same information to me. I knew that I owed this debt, so I have already sent them $220.00. And low and behold, I come across this information from other individuals. If anyone knows anything at all about this company, please let me know, so that I can stop sending money to people who I don't even owe.

You know what I love?  Texas.  Texas is what is called a debtor's state.

Now, no state will arrest you over a debt owed.  But Texas won't even garnish your wages, unless it is for taxes or child support.

HPC has been calling me too.  I owe a payday loan.  Unfortunately, the economy sucks, I have had to move across the country to find a job, and frankly it is more important to feed my kid than pay this stupid payday loan.  What are they going to do, ruin my credit?  Fine.  It's ruined already anyway, and I had to file bankruptcy.

Don't let these people fool you.  You can request they not call you anymore, that they only contact you in writing, and they cannot threaten to put you in jail or have you arrested over money owed.  Tell them to take it and shove it where the sun don't shine...

Scams? Attorneys? Um, no that is NEVER said here. We call about VALID debts only. Asking you to verify your last 4 digits of your social security number is a standard industry practice. If you are uncomfortable with that, a DOB or your address should be just fine. This is done to avoid 3rd party disclosure of YOUR information of which already have (full social, dob, or previous or current address) one of these 3 should be sufficient. If we are calling you chances are you have incurred a outstanding debt and we have been charged by the original creditor or the debt owner (debt is bought and sold, much like mortgages)We are calling because you will have a number of broken promises to pay behind you already so if you are unprepared to clear your debt, there are definite LAWS that protect our clients from you deadbeats AND we will move forward if you fail to comply with a repayment schedule. There is a hard line here, it's pay it or don't. If you don't there are consequences as there is with all things under the sun. If you elect to pay it, great we will help to facilitate this and get it over as quick as possible. All our calls are monitored both incoming and outgoing, for law compliance so the "stories" you see here on this page I am sure the debtor felt bullied around by the non-customer service based manner we deliver our messages to you, but we never "threaten" anyone and all of these stories here are RICH embellishments nothing more.

I have been getting calls from them for the past six months. This is how I stopped their calls: 1. I was nice to the representative and made sure that she provided me with(1)the check number (2)date it was written(3)merchant name(4)amount(5)last four of checking account number and(6)bank name, name on the check 2. Then I told her that I needed to contact the local police department to file a police report. I asked to be provided with a copy of the check to present to the police department as well as a fax number for HPC.(904 418 5051) 3. Verified that the mailing address for HPC is PO Box 57355, Jacksonville, FL 32241. 4. Verified that Noel Pooler and Gary Henrion are the registered agents for the company. 5. Verified that H P Capital aka HPC is a ficticious name with florida registration number: P08000093357 and their EIN was 26-3533738. I told the rep that I needed to verify all this information to ensure proper notification and prosecution for this check that I did not write. Next thing you know I was told that this debt is now in dispute and I will not be contacted again. Furthermore, I followed up with a faxed letter informing them that the statute of limitations in virginia for bad checks is 5 years which meant they were four years too late!
