Hoax by the name of Magic Scratch 'N' Win Match. They drop a card in your mailbox, which when scratched always shows you have won a prize. You call the number and they will first take you phone number and address and hang up.

Operates in Canada. Beware!

Any one know where this place is located in St. Catharines area?

It is definitely a scam. We called in because we won also. He asked us 3 consecutive questions:
1. Where you from?
2. Are you a home owner?
3. What is your staus (common law, single, or married)?

Only then did he inform us (after answering all 3) that we were not eligible because of Question 2.

We then phoned back, were asked the same questions, but answered the opposite for Question 2 (we already were suspicious of this being a scam! We didn't want the prize at this point, we just wanted to prove the scam!). He told us we were not eligible because of Question 2 again!

Complete scam!

Got the card in my mail box, scratched and won. It said to call a number to collect your prize but the number wasn't printed on the card. I figured it was a scam though, nobody gets something for free

I believe that this is a company called Tristar...They sell vacuum cleaners......expensive ones that you have to sell your first born to get.

They must move around, I got one today and I live up near Walkerton Ont.

I received one in Edmonton today.  The fine print on the back says, "...a Tristar or Respiraide homecare product presentation...".  A brief search on-line revealed that Tristar is a brand of vacuum and Respiraide is a brand of air purifier.  Don't bother. If you qualify, you will end up with a vacuum salesman in your living room before you get your prize.

I just got a card in the mail yesterday and was quite excited about winning a laptop. Guess not!

I scratched three sevens. Hotline number to call from Kelowna is 250-763-2323. Front of the card says if you scratch 3 of the same symbols then see the back of the card for the prize that you MAY HAVE won. Sure looks like a scam to me. I'm sure that if you call them you will receive all kinds of calls from telemarketers in the future.

Scratched "777" which means I won laptop Toshiba in Calgary.

I just got a card today. I only scratched it because I like scratching scratch cards. I was pretty excited when I got a match. I was debating whether it was a scam or not.

TOTAL SCAM!!!! I also scratched 777 and thought I had won the laptop, so glad I googled it before calling that number. I have had the Tristar vacuum guy in before.

i have the person coming today if they dont have a laptop for me i will kick them out and make sure they are aware of wha i think of scams. i have no problems listening to them, in return i want this prize - we will see

You have to tell me if they bring the laptop or not. I also don't mind listening to what they have to say, but if they bring your prize, then i'm going to give them a call

Yes i got a card in the mail to. scratched 3 sevens so does anyone know what that gives you on their "master list"? You will have to let me know what the vacuum [***] gives you! The number on the card is 780-438-4382....So im guessin they in edmonton now?

Yup, three "7" s gets me a lap top, not likely, was suspicious, having reviewed all these comments I won't be calling them, interested to see if the vaccum salesman also carrys a laptop as his own or as a prize!

I'm also in Calgary and got three 7's. I noticed that it says prizes are determined by the company's master list, so I don't think it necessarily means you win the netbook. I'm also wondering if Shan got a prize.
