Got a call from a heavy Indian accent man saying he worked for the US Treasury. He warned me I should get a criminal attorney and he will send an investing team to my home. He didn't know anything about what the US Treasury does and did not know their website, number, address in Washington DC
Not sure what he wanted and who would ever fall for someone so stupid. I recorded the call and told him I was and called him a liar and hung up.

Caller says he's from the US Treasury. Didn't know the correct address. No other information. CA area code 909. Watch out for scams.

Received a call asking for Kathleen Coates.  The heavily Indian accented voice left a message saying he was Chris Walker for the Department of Legal Affairs of the U.S. Treasury and mentioned law enforcement and getting an attorney.  He left his # as 909-575-1003.  I did not return the call.

I too had a Chris Walker, claiming to be from the US Treasury in San Bernardino, caller ID had this 9095751003 number listed as VOIP.  Told me they had sent me paperwork and gave me my address, I asked if they had a receipt of me having received it, you know basic registered letter sort of question, he was really confused as why he might have a receipt and why I would ask that, this was not a very lawyerly response.  Good Bye, sir!
Surely a Scam Call, not an option below...

I too received call from "Dept of Legal Affairs" with same phone number but he identified himself as Mark Johnson. I saw another website that said to report this scam to TIGTA.gov.

My brother in law called me totally f freaking out saying that he's got a warrant for his arrest for past due taxes that a man called his mom trying to contact him regarding this. The Indian man claimed he was from the U.S. Treasury saying they'd been attempting to contact Luke for over a year and criminal charges were filed. Something about it sounded off to me so I called the number back only to get a voice mail.so, I googled the number and found this. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!! Please do your research before EVER paying big sums of money.

Got a call from this number looking for my son. Said he was from US Treasury and a claime was filled against him and he needed to call the number or a warrant would be issued for his arrest. He was calling from California and trying to convince me to give him my sons number. I did not give it to him he couldn't answer any basic questions. He said his name was Mark Johnson.

I got one today from this same outfit.  The foreign accent was the give away.  I told the guy he was FOS and he told me they'd be filing paperwork on my wife.

Funny thing was they called MY cell phone and asked for her.

They are trolling for fish to scam. And whey the legislature is not putting a stop to this Robo Calling BS s beyond me.

There was a message on my phone answering machine today with the same message of Mark Johnson with the Dept. of Legal Affairs of the US Dept. of Treasury. It sounded fishy to me.

got a call from a heavy Indian accent man saying he worked for the US department of government and i said who Ive never known of that! then he said department of treasury .so i asked which one is it  He warned me I should get a criminal attorney and he will send an investing team to my home and work within 1 hour.so i told him to send them and we can discuss this matter  He didn't have a clue what to due then except say i would go right to prison and i laughed so hard he was gone when i got my breath back!

I got a call from 909-575-1003 (Caller id shows La Verne) - heavily accented man stating he was Frank Stanley from the Dept of Legal Affairs and I should call him back, or have my attorney call him

I contacted the police department and they stated that there is a section on the IRS website to report scams.  Frank Shelly (hard to hear name due to heavy accent) stated that he was from the Department of Legal Affairs for the Department of the Treasury and that I had a legal matter and would need to contact him to stop litigation.  Total Scam!

Received phone call looking for a family member from Mark Johnson from Department of Legal Affairs and US Treasury. As other callers said, he had an accent and sounded unprofessional, yet making it sound like legal action against my family member was going to take place. I told him I wouldn't give him personal info, but would take his phone number. Then,  I looked up the official site of Dept of Legal Affairs and there is a scam warning on it. I called the number back and Mark Johnson answered and I told him to take my phone number off his list and that he was a scam. He hung up on me. So, his number is now blocked.

Caller left a voicemail.  Used my first name only, not my last name.  Said his name was Nick Walter and was calling from Dept. of Legal Affairs.  The voice sounded digital - or maybe digitally enhanced.  Some sort of accent.  He said "a law enforcement action has been started against your name" and that I might want to contact a lawyer to represent me, but that he "hoped I would take this in the right way" and call him back first.

I got same call, just some dumb scammer. I laughed and said come get me, I need a decent meal..... he hung up but I caught him laugh first...

Just got same call this time Nick Walker was on the line with indian accent. Did not answer..

They called this afternoon, and left a message with my son. He said to call back Frank Stanley. I did at 6:05 pm central, and he said he was from the Treasury Dept. He said I needed an attorney asap. I told him he better get an attorney for scamming innocent people. He then started throwing the F bomb left and right at me and started laughing. Funny thing, you cannot call them back if you use *67 to block who you are. When they call you, the caller ID says VOIP Caller. That's because they are hiding behind an IP based phone system like Magic Jack. That's because they lied about there location so it is harder to find them. THEY ARE SCAMMING LOSERS!!!

Amazing. I also got a call from 909 575 1003, from a guy with an Indian (Pakistani?) accent, called himself Kevin Greene. He said he needed the name of my criminal attorney, because the "United States Dept of Legal Affairs of US Treasury" was taking "law enforcement action". He said they'd sent a CP503 form certified mail in January but that I hadnt responded. He said he'd refer the matter to his "seniors", Jason Brown & Dwayne Maguire. My wife heard it all & chided me for talking to him at all, then showed me an IRS page stating that they never call anyone on the phone out of the blue. So I googled the phone # & got here. I wish I'd done that first.

Claimed to be from IRS/Treasury and warned of legal action, asking for the contact information for my attorney. I hung up, he called right back - saying I would be arrested.
