We have received called from 914-740-1897 and also 914-740-1895.  Both ID say New Rochelle, NY.  We do not answer these calls.  Have not idea who is calling

MOD I is March of Dimes.  At least it was when I accidentally answered if once.  zip

Many sites report this # as (MOD) March of Dimes.
Individuals that answered say, they are recruiting people to take pre-paid envelopes around to their neighbors for the charity.
How do we know this is really going to the legit charity and not some scammers posing as the charity? Not a good way to solicit in this day and age.
Get as much info from the caller as you can w/o giving them any of yours. Ask what org they are calling for, the callers name & employee #, and where they are located. (This # is from the NY area) Tell them all phone calls to your residence are being recorded and that you don't except telemarketing calls. Tell them to take your # off their list and this is their (whatever # warning). At 3 calls you will have them prosecuted. Document each call on a calendar and what was said or done. Even document hang-ups, if you can ID their # on a caller ID.
This usually ends the calls.
Contact your State Attorney General's office if the harassment continues.

received two calls before 12:40pm today from 914-740-1897 - says new rochelle ny on ID. don't know who it is and have not left messages. been on do not call list since inception  - when is this going to actually be effective against unwanted unsolicited calls?!

keep getting calls from this # , some as early as 8:00am. I don't answer and they don't leave messages. VERY ANNOYING!!!

If it is the March of Dimes and you have an existing relationship by virtue of having been a past donor, then they are not barred from calling you by the federal no-call list, unless you ask them not to call again.  The request to mail envelopes to neighbors is legit, as I did it for two or three years. However, I got virtually no response from neighbors, so I quit. This sounds like the real March of Dimes calls I've gotten annually for several years.

What is a "aller"?

Thanks for this info. We've been getting this call repeatedly and finally tried Googling it. March of Dimes makes sense! Will put your advice into practice!

Calls continually, does NOT leave a message, no one replies when we answer, get automated answering service when returning call and NO people, becoming increasingly irritating.

someone from this number is trying to send me a fax but it wont come through.  I tried to fax back but it says the callers mailbox is not set up to receive faxes

It's the March of Dimes, but their call center is behaving like low-life telemarketers.

Calling the number back does nothing -- nobody will answer.  Calling the General Inquiries Number ((914) 997-4488) gets you nothing but an automated system asking for some sort of ID number and/or PIN.

You CAN call your state office, numbers for which are also on the contact page:  http://www.marchofdimes.com/contactus.html  The representative I spoke to took my information, the numbers which had called me, etc. to forward to the national office.  Apparently these telemarketing tactics are earning them a LOT of bad feedback so if you want to pile it on your STATE office is where to call.

Remember, calling back or the general number gets you nowhere -- look up your state office to register a complaint.
