Got ~20 calls from this and 4 other similar numbers between 9am and 10pm EST yesterday. Missed a couple more today, but caught one on the way home from work.

Telling the guy to @#$! his mother at least made it entertaining for a minute, but I eventually got tired of trading expletives, so I stepped it up a bit by telling the guy I was going to have him killed; he hung up and the calls stopped. Win?

    Private Number
    Not a college student - AT&T phone

They call daily...many times a day....from many different phone numbers...several different countries.
I just block them on my phone as they come in..ad them to the 'auto reject' list, sends them straight to voice mail and they never leave a msg.  Annoying, very.  I too would like to know where they are getting their information!

I meant 'add', not ad, gotta love typos.

Also how coincidental their phone numbers keep changing...one comes in as +91xxxxxxxxxxxxx which is obviously from another country; the next comes in  as xxx-xxx-xxxxx...has that 5th digit on the end.  Don't they think they are just so clever??

I received a call from this woman who said that she is calling from the Dept. of Treasury and that I was entitled to a government grant in the amount of $7,000 because I pay my bills on time and I never filed for bankruptcy. I knew it was a scam but went along with it to see how far she would go. (While I she was talking, I Googled the phone number and found this website.) She wanted to verify some information and then asked me for the city to which I live I stated, "Brooklyn" she then asked, "How do you spell that, sir." I, then replied, "If you are an American especially from a government agency, you would know how to spell it since it is one of the biggest city in the U.S." She wanted to change the subject but I insisted. She then transferred me to her "supervisor" and he began with the same nonsense. I, then asked him what the phone number is he replied slowly, "9-9-5-3-7-7-5-0-9-2 and I am Jack Smith" then hung up. Piece of [***] thought he can fool a New Yorker!

I just recieved a phone call from this "U.S. Government Agency"  about how I will be recieveing $7000 in a government grant.  Apparently, I was too boring for the foreigner, because after a few answers like "okay" and "what"... and "Oh." i was hung up on.  This is the first time I actually picked up, but not the first time they have called.  I hope it doesn't persist.  Does anyone know how they actually got our numbers, or are we just suposed to allow whatever company who did keep on doing it?  One other thing, does a "real" goernmant agency know about this group?

Yea I just got a call from this number a few minutes ago! He said I was qualified for 7,000 grant. Had a feeling right off the back that it was a scam bc I live in the dc metro area and 916 is not a dc area code. He  verified my address and said they could transfer the money bank to bank or through my job or some crap like that. then I asked him about a website,  he said it was www.usgrantsdepartment.gov . that doesnt exist! I asked him again for the website. www.usgrantsdepartment.gov. then he hung up!! please do not let these people scam you!

For the past few days I've received a call from this number. The first time I ignored the call, the second I answered dvd sure enough the man with the accent is trying to get info outta me. so I reversed it and asked him well what info do you have. He gave me an old address but the point is he has it. So when he asked what account do I want the money deposited in I ask for a check, which of course he just can't send because it may be sent to the wrong person and the money will be forever lost. On that note I told him look, I looked this number up on the internet and this is a scam don't carol my number again!

I get a call from this computer scrambled number showing up at least once a day.  My wife's identity has been stolen and used to process loans, credit card applications etc.,   I have call blocked all private numbers with my cable company phone service, but this number keeps getting through.  I have one call trace on it at this time, but the second time it came through *57 did not go through as it was a "private number".  I will file the call traces with the local PD, County Cyber Crimes Investigation Unit and State Police Cyber unit.  I have also filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and the National Do not call list.

Criminals Organizations are two steps ahead of many law enforcement agencies, and in most cases the calls are coming in from abroad and little or no action is being taken at this time.  Calls from a business must have the business name and a "REAL" phone number posted on your caller ID.  I have found to shut these people down very quickly is to ask for a phone number to call them back at and an address that I can reach them at...it is usually prompted by a quick hang up.  FYI: A legit business will gladly provide you this information promptly and is required by "Law".
