They just hang up when I call back

They just called me and told me that I was going to get arrested tomorrow for not paying a payday loan back.  I did not take out any payday loan!

I just received the same call I am freaked out, what happend in your case?

no need to worry. this is a huge scam and there are federal websites that talk about it. I have read that some people have had money taken from their bank accounts so keep an eye on them or change accounts at your bank! Good luck!!

On December 14, 2012 at 4:30 in the morning, received a call from an attorney , who said he represented the  "Federal Legistration Department,.
Caller identified himself as William Kelly.  
He wanted to inform me that  there were three cases against me, and that if I did not comply he would have the local authorities pick me and house me in jail.
He informed me I needed to call (916) 287-3815 and speak to  Mr. Cooper. Location , Sacramento, CA.

When calling this number , it appear that the voice was the same as the first person who contacted me.  I belied that I was talking to some one in their late 20's or 30's.

When Mr. Cooper spoke to me , his first words were "honey", I like you!  he used words as Honey, Sweetheart. Wanted to know what I was doing up late, what time did I go to bed, as he wanted to join me.
My daughter over heard the conversation, broken in and said we calling the trooper.  and the man hanged-up the phone.   Call ended.

Funny thing, on 12, 12, 2012, Was notified by my bank that someone in Illinois, hacked my credit card. at Red Box  and one other place, twice.   then three days later I get a call form this number of 9162873815.
This is what I  have learned about scammers, the can take your name and address, go to Liberty card company and get any credit card they want,  they start out at $20. after the use and making a few purchase, and paying it off, can heighten the credit value of the card, you may be paying for purchases you never ordered and do not know about , because they are sent to a different address.  \

He called me three times today every 1 min. If he continue and none take them from system,  we need to find this asian guy with diferit names and functions making illegal money in usa .

I just got a call and he said that he needs to talk to my lawyer about a loan or something of the sort for not paying it back. Never took out a loan and never been to California.

12/20/12  A call from 916-287-3815 was received at my caregivers work. They ask to speak to me and said I worked in the business office. The caller was immediately informed that they had the wrong # and that I was disabled. My caregivers employer advised him that the high volume of calls were a threat to my caregivers future employment there. I called to inquire about the calls and request that the work # be removed. A man with a India accent Advised me that he was an attorney. I immediately ask for the work # to be removed. He responded repeatedly with "okay, you will be arrested tomorrow at your work place and put in jail" Then he hung up. I had no time to ask who he worked for and why he was calling or even to advise him that I was disabled.. I tried to call back repeatedly. I called from several different phones. Always, I received a beep in my ear and nothing else.

I am getting calls from this number every min. Someone from India with an American name. Go figure that out. I am going to block this number from my phone. It is really getting on my nerves. I have read some of the messages that people reported and I am getting the same feedback.

Got a call at work from a man who was very rude to my Supervisor.  He sounded like he was calling from India and said I needed to call a Mr. Cooper regarding a criminal case against me.  I called the 916-287-3815 and Mr. Cooper turned into Mr. Anderson.  He told me that I would be arrested tomorrow at work for check fraud in California and I don;t even live there and they would tell my employer what a bad person I was.  He said I had a loan at cash advance america, for which I never did.  These people are monsters and I hope someone shuts them down.

Just received a call from Steven Scott, 916-287-3815, stating he wanted to speak to an employee, this man was incredibly rude and would not divulge the nature of his call (which is normal). I did not transfer the call to the individual. Since I have read the comments on this site I understand this is criminal activity, fraud in the making and something we cannot stop because we do not have the ability to block numbers.

Just received a call- funny thing is they are calling my cell but asking for my husband.  samething- saying if my husband does not respond he "feels sorry for what will happen"- what a joke!!!!!!

I received a threatening call telling me to call back or something bad would happen to me for ignoring the call. The person sounded computerized and the accent was thick and foreign.

recieved a call from them today. was told i had 3 criminal charges against me. i of course started freaking out and asking questions he very rudely told me to not interrupt him. He asked me if I had $500 to pay TODAY when i said no he then got aggressive and said he was going to have the cops come "drag me out of my house at 4 am" I told him that i needed to contact my lawyer and that i needed his information and he would not give it to me. he kept telling me i would get a knock on my door to arrest me. He hung up on me. So i googled the number and saw all these responses regarding this same Mr. Cooper. So i called back when he answered i in my nicest voice told him who i was and told him that i had my lawyers information for him and then i mentioned how i googled this number and he went crazy. Called me a B*T*H a mother f***** asked me who the hell i thought i was for googling him. I in return threatened him back and and told him he didnt know who he was messing with. So LIVID!
