Apparently they are a collection agency and I'm having the same difficulties with them.  So, tonight after a few threatening phone calls, I contacted my local police department in my state.  My local police department is contacting the Elk Grove police department.  Won't they be surprised to find out I've taped the conversations!  There is nothing like having on tape being called a cracker and a b***h.  One moron actually stated he knew where I lived and he'd come and make me pay!  Well, come on up, uninvited guest, we've got a law up here called castle doctrine,  The best advice is getting them on tape.  Get in touch with your local police department and they will take care of it with the Elk Grove police department.  Even if you do owe money, it is illegal for them to misrepresent themselves (stating that they are an agency they are not), threaten you, your job, your family or your home.  They cannot use profanity, call you racial slurs or derogatory names.  They cannot threaten or harass you by misrepresenting themselves as a legal agency.  They are a collection agency and have absolutely nothing to do with law, cannot make legal decisions or give legal advice.  They cannot state that they will take your car, your home or garnish your wages, that is a judges job and judges job only.  

If you feel threatened in any way, call your local police department.  Even though they are a collection agency, and you do owe money, they are held to the same laws and statutes as any other business.

These idiots have been calling me for months now, claiming they are a law office (which is completely false!). They stopped for a long time and now are calling again. They have changed the name of the company they are calling from atleast 4 times since they first started calling me. They have called my house in the middle of the night! Who do these crooks think they are?? The first time they called me they said I owed Bank of America $1100. I have never been in bad standing with Bank of America, so I knew it was false. I told the person on the phone that I knew I didn't owe that. They called me again and I told them that I went into BOA and they showed me proof that I could send them that I do NOT owe that and never have. Then they said that it was Wachovia Bank. I told them that I knew that they were frauds and that they were just trying to scam me. They continued to call, I have battled them numerous times on the phone trying to get them to leave me alone! Now they started calling saying it was for a different bank. A bank that I've never heard of that closed in 1990!! I wasn't even a teen yet! I told them, and they finally left me alone... for a while. Now they appear to be back at it again! Ugh! They even managed to get it onto my Credit Report. I am in the process of disputing it and I am planning on filing charges against them if they do not leave me alone! They are bottom feeders! If they call you do not answer. Report them to the BBB! I told them tonight that it is fake, that I know they are frauds, and that I have reported them and will be reporting them again!  The caller kept saying she didnt have the address on file, I told her because they are a scam! She said "My apologies" and hung up. I hope they do not bother me again!

This "Law Office" keeps calling me several times a day at work. Harrasing my coworkers. Ive tried speaking with one of there Reps " Marcella Giles" and she woudnt let me get a word in so I asked her not to contact me at work and hung up . They called my work back immediately, this time it was a Male. He told my supervisor "Tell ****** that he made a huge mistake, we are in California" and then hung up.  Dont know what he meant but sounds like a threat. Good luck there buddy!!!

Law office of Michael Sipes, trying to collect fraudulently opened BofA account.  They are the 4th agency to have this account.  Keeps being sold and recycled.....they'll give up eventually.

I read all this a few months ago when i got a call from this company... i laughed it off told them i could pay and proceded to ignore calls... all i owed was 1500 or so on an old credit card my ex wife charged up... well they found my job called me there and i told them the same thing cant pay...wont pay talk to my ex... well last week a process server came to my job and served me with law suit papers... i call immediately... i was told my bill was now over 2500 dollars and to stop suit i had to pay it all at once...my time had run out... well i talked to a lawyer and looked for every reason to sue them... turns out i cant they broke no laws... found out they can start calling you at 8 in the morning and keep calling you till 9 at night... also found out that michael sipes is a real guy been suing people who owe bills for 20 yrs... [***] sux...now i might get a garnishment for 25% of my check... so my advice is work out something or your crap can be messed up like mine is... did my research on how they got my acct from wells fargo and i guess they buy bad debt and collect on it or in my case sue... watch your backs if yopu owe it pay it or file bk cause they WILL SUE YOU!!!

That is good news. I have been paying installments to them on a debt I owe. I was recently four days late and called them to pay only to get yelled at and threatened although I called to make my payment. I made my payment and they say they are suing me still. I have not been able to get a statement from them either.  Plus they say they are charging 26 percent interest. Is that legal? I have never heard of anyone being charged interest on a collection debt, it's the amount owed only.  I need help because all of these payments and my cooperation in this matter are seeming fruitless.

They are being investigated for their illegal collection activities.  If they call, first get a name, address and a "call back" number.  Some of the collectors in his office are using front phone numbers to hide where the calls are originating from.  Second, RECORD THE PHONE CONVERSATION.  Yes, it is illegal in their collection practices and not only the attorney, but the staff can face ramifications. Get the information and file a complaint with the FTC and Attorney General's office.  If a company cannot provide a statement -  THERE IS A REASON.  They must provide a statement if they are collecting money for an account.

If you find yourself harassed tell them you are recording them, make sure you do record them, & say they are to cease & desist all verbal communication. The end. No more calls. Please be aware they can not only garnish your wages but levy your account. It is best to set up payment arrangements before any of this happens.

They are mean. I was served and I called right away. I told them I am disabled and couldn't make it to court because I have to go in a wheelchair and I had no bus, money for, me nor my son who would have to push me. I also didn't have gas money to pay a friend to take me. They did NOT care. So they kept going on, with, proceedings in court. Then this Saturday I get a letter saying my bank, account was levied. The only money in there was our rent money. They wiped out my account, and not only  that, but the two checks I wrote for my utilities bounced and now I owe the back 112.00. And the bank says if we don't pay in 45 days all that  money, then it will go to collections. My husband lost his job 5 months ago, and I'm disabled and fighting, a case to get ssi.  are mean people  don't care. I have a child who we may now have to live in our car with. I feel so distressed, I just wanna die. No wonder people are taking emory own lives over this stuff.
