the message says it is verizon.  I called verizon, it's not.

Also told me they were Verizon, have text version of voive mail attached below... turning into FCC, think it's a phishing scam as my phone is TMobile.  Here is text from Windows Phone text voicemail (sorry if I sound like an ad):

Hello this is verizon wireless and we're trying to contact make a list spreading onsite with important information about their account we've made multiple attempts to reach me a call list press in offsite regarding this matter please have them call us back today at 866.

639 -- 9329 once again the number is 866 -- 639.9329 thank you for choosing verizon wireless goodbye.

We've been getting calls from "Verizon" at this number, but like others posted, I don't think it's actually Verizon.  We've been ignoring them.

unknown caller , hangs up.

I've rec'd two or three calls on my cell the last couple days but have ignored them as well.

got a call from this guy said he was in navada and that i had won some money that would be sent to me via ups if i went down and western union'd some money to a guy in Jamaica. what a scam!

this number called my cell phone today.  i didn't recognize it and didn't pick up.  and they didn't leave a message.  googled the number and found these posts.  glad i saw these.  i will NOT be picking it up if they call again.

I was called about the same time. I didn't answer, either, as I didn't recognise the number. Basically DITTO to everything you wrote.

Thanks for all your post. I got a call from this number on my cell phone twice today from this number, and it would never leave a message too.

This is an automative message and does not leave any voice messages.  When I returned the call, it stated "Welcome to Verizon Retrieval Message, if we have called the wrong number, please press the star key, otherwise....".

DO NOT press any key.  Simply hang up.

Keep getting calls from this number. Approximately 2 per day for past few days.  Don't recognize it, so I don't answer.  No message is left. Google searched and found these posts.

It left me a voicemail with a computer-spoken message that contained my full name.  Pretty sure it's legitimately Verizon bugging me about a bill that's 5 days past due (check is in the mail!).

Verizon bill is paid.  Got a call from this number from "brandon Willick/Willig" asking to return the call .  Googled, found this, not calling.....

I'm getting these calls saying they're from Verizon and to pay my bill. I don't really know they are! I do not pay them! I'll be calling today and demanding that they stop calling.U6H7

I received a call from this number today, I didn't recognize it so I didn't pick up.  I am glad I didn't. Thank you to all who have posted, it has been very helpful.

My 12 year old son now has my old number and does not answer unknown callers. I thought this may have been a call for me.  Sometimes they leave a message, but it does not advise what company it's for just gives calling info.  They also have several different numbers and like to call several times daily.
Under listings for the other numbers they use to call people advise that this is a phishing scam posing as verizon.

Same thing happening on our kid's phone. Told not to pick up because no ID displayed. Good thing....no msg. and googled # as well and landed here. Good to find this info

In most cases when you press the * key or respond similarly it can confirm #'s etc. and thru a series of simple steps create quite a database for them.
