949-468-5133  a man calls and leaves a message claiming he is an officer with the DEA.  I've had a dozen similar calls over the last year or two, a different number always.  He claims you  have bought medications ilegally and tries to extort money from you by threatening arrest.  ignore the call, it is a scam.

I got the same bogus message from some idiot claiming he was with the DEA. The original call came from this phone number 949-468-5133 in Irvine, California. The jerk says his name is Officer Anthony Williams with the DEA Drug Enforcement Administration, telling me to call him back at 831-331-4982, ext 205.

What a scam and not even a good one! These people are dumb as [***].

I got a call from this number today. Saying his name was “Anthony Williams” from DEA Enforcement Administration. He left me a message saying to contact him immediately at “831-331-4982” Extension 205. He stated that I must do so within 24 hour period or by noon tomorrow or DEA officers will arrive at my home to arrest me for purchasing illegal drugs from the internet and purchasing illegal fireworks over the internet. Well I know my rights and have had calls from this "SHRIMPER" in the past saying his name is "Thomas Herrigan" and or “Carlos Santa” The number he dialed me from last time was from Anaheim, CA. “714-409-3989”. Both of the times he called me from that number. He also asked me to call him back at that same number and again at extension 205. It is definitely the same individual. His voice is the same as well. I have saved the voice messages that he has left me just in case I need them to sue him if I can find him.
Anyway I was in a good mood and decided to call him back and let him know that he is a “Shrimper”. If you don’t know what a “Shrimper” is try to look it up at www.urbandictionary.com or at http://shrimper.urbanup.com/141969 I told this guy to look it up also. When I was done he called me back a few minutes later. Well I guess he did and he was really pissed off at me. He said forget about tomorrow and said they were on the way. I was laughing so hard at him. He was just cursing at me and saying how much trouble I was in.  I kept laughing at him. I asked him to please come in person so I can kick His stupid ass.

Anyway people if you can call him back and tell him he is a “Shrimper” he will probably come unglued and start screaming at you over the phone. Well I hope this helps people.

    Good luck people

yup. just gotot a call frm a "thomas harrigan" identifying himself as a DEA agent telling me to call back at  949 331 4982 x2084. tried calling that number back and sd "cannot connect call at this time". but my caller ID sd 831-331-4982 @ 349pm central time. called THAT number and it went to vmail for "thomas harrigan" peole see the wiki entry on this dude who happens to be the DEA deputy administrator appointed by obama http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_M._Harrigan.  so the NAME is real. the guy is not. i detected an hispanic accent. i think i will call the number back and see what happens. I know ive gotten calls in the past--probly using the same name it sounds familiar--but i dont think ive kept the notes on it.

Got a call from Anthony Williams (dea agent NOT) threatening to send agents to my house. I already had someone try to scam me like this and I was ready. I told him to get a real job . I also laughed away him and called him a piece of s#@t. Don't fall for this and I have called my local police dept. with his scam.

Thanks for the shrimper idea. It worked like a charm. I had fun with him and I'm not the only one to call him a shrimper. He said oh yeah I talked to you yesterday. It wasn't me and don't think it was you.  Funny!

same deal..I have worked with real DEA they do not call you on the phone..they show up IF you DID something. Since I am also a doctor and lawyer the guy should not get tongue tied should he?
Why doesn't the real government do something about this? Impersonating a Federal official is a crime. Guess nobody cares.

Impersonating a Federal official is a crime, but these guys probably use prepaid phones or "spoof" their number.  Also, law enforcement doesn't generally call suspects who have outstanding warrants (or who are suspects) and tell them they are coming.  Certainly they don't ask for money over the phone. Obviously, a guilty person would flee his or her home if this was the case. This scam was not thought out very well, but I guess there really is a sucker born every minute.

Also got a call from someone impersonating a DEA Federal Agent.  Reported it to the FBI who indicated it's a common scam using "throw away" cell phones.  The call may even be coming from outside the U.S.  It's best just to hang up.

I too received this scam call and immediately made believe that I was following his directions.to go to my bank and withdraw a sum of $3200.00 to make this unfortunate incident go away without any further legal issues.  I told him I was doing so but in fact went to my local police department and gave the phone to the detective at the precinct. The caller hung up as soon as the officer identified himself.  What an ass**le.

These scam artists should be shot.  How many older people have paid to help a grand child or friend?
Sad to say the least !

My call came from a Tom Harrington (I guess it could have been Harrigan) from 760.621.4702, but the number he asked me to call back on was 909.810.2161, ext. 2884. Said he was a Special Agent with the DEA. After doing my homework, I think I'll just block the number from my phone and move on.
