Call came in @ a bit after 3 pm. Did not leave a message.

Called and left a message about the Consumer Debit Initiative a Federally approved debt reduction program. Left a 800 number to call.  This was an automated message.

Got same recording as Bob in NY. But I was able to get their website. www.mydebt-help.com
If you go to that, you'll find a bunch of official logos at the bottom of the home page. These guys take money up front from you to negotiate reduced debt with your creditors. You pay them a big fat fee. Often, they get your money, your SS#, credit card numbers and even power of attorney and you never see them again. There are NON PROFIT or NOT FOR PROFIT agencies out there that do this FOR FREE. Do not get suckered into paying ANYONE to settle your debt when there is free counseling. UPDATE: I was able to contact one of the companies whose logo appears on the mydebt-help.com website and asked if Consumer Assistance was one of its certified members and explained to them that I suspected their logo was hijacked. Sure enough, they are not a certified member. PLEASE BE CAREFUL of any debt consolidation or settlement company offering to reduce your debt for a fee. If their website does not end in .org, don't deal with them. If you continue to get calls such as this, and you are on the Government DO NOT CALL LIST,  you can contact the FTC at 877-382-4357 or visit www.ftc,gov to file a complaint. I did, and now these guys might be shut down! ... MORE ... called these guys back and the name of "rep" is DAVID.

They're not shut down yet.  They called me today.  The message mentioned the Consumer Debt Reduction Act, and said I could get my payments reduced.  Yeah, sure they will!!  I think AunTee has some sound words of advice.  Do NOT deal with these people, especially if they are already violating the law by calling you.  I'll file a complaint at ftc.gov as well.  These scam artists have to go.

Received a call from this number.  There was no one on the line when I answered.  I called back and reached the Consumer Assistance Center.  I pressed 0 to speak to an operator, then asked to be removed from their call list.  I was transferred to an automated attendant that said to leave my number after the beep.  I did - and my number is supposed to be removed within 48 hours.  We'll see if that worked.

DAVID OLSEN is supposedly the rep & will be eager to discuss refinancing your home even if you don't have one. He will also be glad to fight you, invite you down to his office to fight him & call you very vulgar names. Sounds like a professional SCAM TEAM THAT SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. They choose to harass well here is there public info for you tot ell them how you feel. 949-525-4127 & the 888 # above are the same people & thats there location of telemarketing.
