I have no credit card debt, yet when this caller calls and I ask to be taken off of their call list, the call goes dead.

Karen Gray-- called 1:50 pm today left no message

number was on caller id with identification 'california call'.  no message.

Credit card hoax. There is no number to opt out of the call (which is illegal) and when you call the number, you get a burp in the ear and then it says the mailbox is full.

Forgot to mention that the name on the call shows as Karen Gray

Have received 2 calls from this number so far today.  First call said California, second call said Karen Gray.  Same number both times.  Didn't answer.

Same complaint as everyone else. How can we stop this?

This kind of scamming is very difficult to defeat; the caller is using forged caller IDs and changing the numbers consistently.  I simply don't answer calls from numbers that don't "mean anything to me".  It solves nearly all of the problems.

Third time getting called by the same place, on a schedule exactly one week apart - to the hour.  They asked for my wife, by name.  Since they were clearly an out-of-state number, I asked who they were and what they wanted.  They called themselves "The Childrens Project" and made themself sound like a charity of some kind.

So now there is a new wrinkle in this unknown call business. Put a person's name in the faked caller ID. This one came in as Gray Karen. It was a pre-recorded message about lowering interest rates on my credit cards. I don't carry a balance from month to month. Just another number to add to the blocking list.
