I got a call from this number and I said hello several times and the party hung up.  I attempted to call the number back several times and the other end just kept hanging up upon connect.  I think it's a private detective or skip tracer tool.  That's be my guess.

1-971-220-1005 called around 12:55pm eastern and was told via prerecording that they were authorized to call me by my bank and credit card companies about lowering my debt. If I wanted to talk to an agent press 1 if I wanted to be removed from their calling list press 9. I pressed 9 and it immediately hung up. I tried to call back and it instantly hangs up and call does not go through.

I suggest everyone report harassing calls to the FCC as I have already done for this number. The more complaints the more they will crack down.

I got a call from this number on my cell phone.  Did not answer, they did not leave a msg.

If this dirtbag keeps calling, do as I did...register your number on the national do not call list and if they call again, file a complaint.

I guess they called when my phone was off.
I have a new phone that is not my primary number.
It is a new and temporary number.
I have had it a month, and no one has been given this number by me.
I do not call out from this number either,
There was 1 debt collection call for the whomever had the phone number before me.
It was 3 days after I got the phone.  
When I turned the phone on at 6 pm, I had a 'voice mail' from ( 971 ) 220 1005 at 5:20  
2 seconds of barely audible machine droning.
When I try to call back the call drops immediately,-
No ring, no answer - just a dead line as soon as I punch in the last 5
Obviously, if these people are not criminals, whatever they are doing is unethical.
