he said his name was Randy Marshall, and it would be in my best interest that I call him back.

Called and didn't answer.  Got a text message stating please call and when sent text message asking who it was, got a message stating that my text had been sent to a landline.  This number is also calling my work number.

"Marshall" called my home asking for my husband.  Said it was a collection agency and that it would be in his "best interest" to call back.  He did not sound nice at all.

Since all I have found online are similar accounts and total rudeness and a
"break your legs" phone voice I have my doubts as to whether he is legitimate.

Under no circumstances should you confirm any information that he has about you especially your social security number, bank accounts,any additional phone numbers, income, address, etc.  I never give out any info and never confirm what info they tell me they have on a call to me and never on a call back to one like this one.  I want to know what bill he is calling about and I will contact that company first.  Oftentimes, these are fraudulent and they collect a legitimate debt but it is not going to that actual payment.  They are pocketing it themselves because they just got stolen info about you and use scare tactics to get your bank accounts and your money.

Watch your mail and emails for contacts about stolen information from jobs and companies that have your info -- banks, where you work, where you go to school, etc. -- as this info is stolen from them all the time.  Then nasty people like these harass you until you confirm info and pay up.  Then you are left holding the bag.  Best thing is to report it.  We recently gave the post office a fraudulent piece of mail addressed to a minor child in my home that was supposedly from the IRS.  Boy were they happy to get it.  The guy immediately went and called the item in to report it so that it could be traced and get the perpetrators arrested!!

We got a call from this number from someone who was looking for my sister.  My son gave him no information, but stated the person was very adamant.
Even he thought it was a scam.

glad to see a forum such as this to voice complaints, etc regarding pesky calls. i wasn't aware this was a fraudulent firm but was suspicious due to a series of calls for me from this firm -- one was at my work (BIG no-no) and the other on my cellular with a text that included my social security number. my question is how do we stop such calls & the spreading of potential identity information?

this person left a message with my colleague stating his name "Steve Varner" and to call back
