I suggest before you respond to their calls even if it from family or friends you research what you're getting yourself into. Their track record for customer abuse is horrible. Google "Global Tel Link + complaints" at the horror stories. Prime example is putting $25.00 on your credit card for supposively 5 to 7 five minute collect calls from an inmate and get only one ten minute call for your twenty five dollars to be charged off.


Oh and once the Inmate makes a collect call to you, it won't let you accept the call, it tells you to set up a credit card account first and if you don't accept the call or aren't there to pickup; evidentally it rolls over to a computerized recall system harassing you to death to setup an account. They call your prepaid cell phone number, prepared to get screwed in losing time. And computerized calls in this State are illegal to begin with.

my boyfriend calls me from this number and it wolnt let me answer someone PLEASE help me i very much need to talk to him if anyone has any info on how to answer this call please let me know as soon as possible i miss him very much and i need to find out how long a term hes serving.

if you know his name and birthdate look in your state dept. of correctons website. if he still "going thru the system" check the county website. all arrest records are public. if all else fails, try pacer.net it stands for public access to court electronic records. you need is name and birthdate. (by the way if he got snitched on or he snitchin it will be on there) good luck

Hi all, Just want to pass on some info in regards to these so called pre-paid collect calling cards for loved ones who may be housed in county facilities. 972-372-1105 keeps calling me at ALL hours of the day and night, and in my case the massage will say someone from Kirkland Evaluation and Reception Center is trying to contact someone at this number(my number). This Kirkland facility is located in Columbia SC and is a level 3 maximum security facility. I know no one in this facility. My loved one is housed in the Charleston county jail. First contact the local facility to see if your loved on has been transferred from your local facility, if they have not been transferred, Do Not set up an account with the above number. They will take your money. I use EPSI pre-paid Collect calling service at 1-888-664-7839. I have used this company several times and they are very helpful in the customer service division. They charge approximately .98 cents per call your loved one makes to you and you will hear a recording that lets you know that your account is low.YOU have to call to have money put on the account. They will hold your card info, but will not automatically charge your card without you calling and applying money to your per-paid account. I have used EPSI several times, and I have never had a problem with my love one getting in touch with me, nor have I ever been short changed on my calls. You will get about 25 calls for $25.00 and some change left over. The recording that lets you know when your account is below $15.00 is very helpful in keeping account of your calls to ensure you are getting what you pay for. If you do not use all of the money on your account. they will refund your money if you wish them to do so, just call and speak with customer service they will let you know the account balance and you can proceed how you feel .  I hope this helps in stopping the scammers who are trying to get you to set up a pre-paid collect calling account.

I get calls from this number several times a day..the recording says it is from a South Carolina Inmate. I want it to stop.

I have been getting calls on my cell phone from 972-372-1105 at least twice a day since the beginning of this month (January, 2013).  I do not answer the calls but they keep coming in.  Is there anyway you can stop this type of unsolicited, unwanted calls from unknown persons.

Well I guess that it's an inmate from the prison in Columbia, which makes somewhat of sense that they got me since I have an 843 number which is a Charleston number. I am guessing that it was a wrong number as I don't know anyone in prison or even anyone in Columbia for that matter...
Hope whoever just tried to call realizes they had the wrong number and get the right person

How does this company work? Can i call them,with a specific prison snd them be able to set up an account? My sons dad is incarcerated and one call currently costs $4. If i can save some money that would be really helpful.

Global Tel Link is a company that allows inmates from jails across the country to call you collect.  It is outrageously priced.  If you live in an area outside of where the jail is located and for example an inmate in Georgia calls someone in Virginia one 30 minute call would be $25.00.  However if an inmate in Georgia calls someone in Georgia the calls are on average of $2-$3 per 30 minute call.  To accept the calls you have to prepay Global Tel Link in advance and then the call from the inmate will go through to you.  If you are receiving a call from this number most likely someone you know is in jail and trying to get in touch with you.  Rarely do inmates make calls to random numbers.  Hopefully the inmate has written you a letter telling you where they are.  Inmates only are allowed free calls the first couple hours of arrest and then you are pretty much not able to call anyone unless someone opens up a Global Tel Link account.
