They are scammers trying to access your computer. "You have a virus". All people who read this, do not speak to them or especially give access to your computer at all, you do not know what they will do to it. Also note that another number who has called me, 18774667164. They are also scammers. Check the number on a search engine on your computer, like you did for this number...

Received a call from Microsoft Tech Support telling me I had a virus on both computers which needed removing ...... knew my surname, state I lived in, background sounded like a call centre, and I was told the Technician who would remove it would quote my Microsoft ID Number to me.  I would not give access to my computer for the removal of supposed virus which would have given them MS ID obviously.  
Beware.

Scammers pretending to be Microsoft. There number comes up as an overseas number on my caller ID yet they are stupid enough to tell you they are in Melbourne.

yea they have called me a few times, just tell them you have a mac or dont even own a computer and you will get an awkward silence then a "ok thank you" and they hang up

caller ID said Overseas 9927773456. Said they were microsoft technicians and I told them they were scammers and they hung up

Same as others. Saying they were Microsoft Technicians.  

I said "Nice try" and hung up.  

They had my full legal name, not the name I am known as.

Received calls from this number today. Same spiel

I was glad to have this service to check on the unknown caller.
In general, I ask them to wait while I turn on my computer. Then I come back 10 min later and hang up.
That will at least waste their time !

My husband told her that he has Linux on his computer and that dumbfounded her for a minute.
Then he said that I have a windows computer.
She was most eager to start her spiel again.
I asked for her company name and phone number and told her that as an Australian consumer I know my right to ask for company name and phone number.  She went to speak to her supervisor,  the line went blank.  Unplugged the line from the phone and it works again.
