- Pat| 1 replyGot a call from a foreign man saying that I had downloaded something and my computer had gotten a virus from it. He also said that he can see everything I'm doing online. I was not home at the time he called, my husband answered the phone. When he told my husband to turn the computer on and sign in, he told him that he would not do so cause he had no idea who he was and didn't trust strangers. Hubby told him that I was the main computer user and I'd be home after 5 p.m. to call back after I got home and he was pretty sure I wouldn't fall for any bull crap like he was hearing from him. The man asked if anybody else could get on the computer, and hubby said no, I don't care what you have to say!
- Mooby| 3 repliesI've been called by these people a number of times. What they seem to do is to get to to visit a website which will download a virus on your computer - you them have to pay them to remove the virus. I personally have never actually visited the website they tell you to go to but have been warned by others so thought I should post this info for others. As far as I know the virus isn't some sort of scam to get your details but will mess up your computer . . . has anyone else had the same call?
- Caller: ???
- angelino replies to Mooby| 1 replyHad a call from the same number a couple of hours ago. Very hard to understand. Said he was from Microsoft. I was in a hurry so i blew him off.
- Jesus replies to angelinoMy wife just got the same phone call from some foreign guy saying that he had just gotten a message from her computer and that it was MS7. He wanted her to get sign in to clean her computer. He could tell something wasn't right because he still has Vista on her comp. So she told him she knows this is a scam and hung up on him.
- My NameSome Indian man just rang up and said we had a virus on our computer and told us to go on it and follow his instructions i just acted dumb and after about five minutes he gave up...... what ever you do don't give them your I.P. address because the will hack into your computer.
- ChloeI got the same type of call as others have posted. I would love to know where I can report this!
- Caller: "microsoft"
- Gazman_AusGuess what? I got the same call tonight. Same Indian sounding english speaking caller asking the same questions, giving the same instructions. The first tech seemed confused that the pc I was using didn't have a Windows Key on the keyboard (Older Lenovo R52 Laptop), but he got past that by getting me to use the mouse to get into Event Manager- Applications. Then he got really confused when I said that there were no errors or warnings in the log, and went and got his 'supervisor' and we went throught the same procedure again and he couldn't believe that there were no errors or warnings in the log.
At this point (15 minutes into the call.) I told him that a box had popped up and said "TELL THE IDIOT TECH ON THE PHONE THAT COMPUTER IS FINE AND THAT HE HAS BEEN SCAMMED BY THE PERSON HE IS TRYING TO SCAM". Supervisor got the message! He passed me back to the first Tech, to whom I also gave the same message. He still kept trying to bluff his way through it.
They have a script designed to get past unsuspecting users and scam them into paying money for 'virus removal' (usually virus installation), or collecting personal and financial information for later fraud.

By the way, I am a trained Electronics and Computer Technician/Engineer, sick of scammers taking advantage of unsuspecting users - Neither Microsoft or any other reputable Computer/Technology company will cold call users.- Caller: scammer of the week
- OgmaGot a call from this number 4/9/2012 @ 7:16 pm. Caller ID read Unavailable or blank; forget which. Anyway, I let the answering machine take it; no message. This is my standard procedure for calls with no identification; if the call should happen to be legitimate, I pick up on it when I hear who it is. Been averaging two of these phony calls per day; quite annoying.
- Caller: No idea
- PaulI just got a phone call from that number. I was immediately suspicious because any other overseas phone call I get doesn't show me the number, but this one did. I didn't answer the phone because i know that they are always people like this, particularly when it's an 'overseas' number.
Thanks for confirming people, that it was a good idea that I didn't answer the phone. - Chrisso i get this phone call and this man with a heavy middle-east accent claiming he was from Window's says the computer with the recent windows operating system has been downloading malicious files and said he could delete it for me if i gave him information about my computer. he was rude and vulgar hassling me to give my information to him. i told him that i was not the sole owner of the computer and i would i have to wait for my mother to come home which was 5 hours from now. and then he says if im over 18 i could do this process myself.
so i called my mom feeling suspicious about the man and told her what happen (with him still on the line) and she just told me to tell him that i dont have the information and that he would wait. so i did what she said and he ask in such a rude tone "what happen?!" and i told him that he would have to wait, and he just hung up right then and there.
man who is so rude and harsh is giving himself a red flag making him look suspicious and up to no good. hope he doesnt call again.
here is the number that called:

999-910-0102 - Get Even| 1 replyYes, it is a scam. I told him I was busy at the moment, eating a roast BEEF sandwich and viewing porn on my computer. He asked if I could go to some url right now because my computer was sending out a virus. I told him no. Told him that the porn vid was just getting to the good parts and began telling him what was happening (made up a scene). Made it up as graphic as i could until he actually hung up on me. Made my day.

- Called me a Fu*king idiotGot the same call from everyone described above. And had some fun going round and round with him. once he realized what I was doing her called me a fu*king idiot and hung up on me. Better part was, he called my place of employment a few weeks ago and we kept him on the phone going round and round for over 30 mins. Had to keep putting the phone on mute though because we were laughing too hard and wanted to keep it going. Then he got his 'supervisor' on the phone. Only lasted a few mins after that before they hung up.

- ANGRYGRAMMA replies to Get EvenGreat idea. I speak several languages and sometimes I pretend I am a visitor to the household and I say stupid things in the other languages like "Is the horse purple?" "Do you eat old goats?" "I study much English in the bathroom."
I have also thought about an airhorn and a whistle. Once I was a barking dog and meowing cat and had them fight.
Need to get creative with the scum, but your idea was really funny. - ANGRYGRAMMAThe scum called early this morning and went to voice mail. This is the first time I have seen this phone number with the scam, but they have called me at least 3 times in the last couple of weeks. BLEEP.
