Left no message on answering machine. I've been receiving calls from 999-910-0122 for two weeks regarding some scam, claiming they are from microsoft. I'm wondering if this is the same people. From what I could find out, the number comes up as a cell phone in Delhi, India.

I recieve 4 calls from this number today.  This is obviously a scam.  The man on the line told me he was with Microsoft and he wanted to warn me that my computer was going to "crash at any time."   He told me I needed to turn on the computer and follow a few steps to prevent the crash.  I laughed at him and told him never to call my home again.

I have been getting calls from this number for about 2 weeks...sometimes a couple of times a day.  They said they are from PC Solutions regarding my microsoft computer, that I have a virus and they want to know if can get on my computer.  I asked to speak with a supervisor...the man I was speaking with (heavy accent from India, difficult to understand) covers the mouth piece and hands the phone to someone who has a heavy accent from India who repeats what the first man said.  The goal seems to be to get access to my computer.  It is a SCAM.

well they called again this eve..... and my plan was ready and in place
about 3 weeks ago we started getting this calls from some 999 number. I googled it and it came up as some Indian scam thing where some indian guy calls you and says that he is part of microsofts trouble alert program and your computer will soon crash. He then tries to get you to give him remote access to the computer of course to install some spyware or other virus type program.  So as glenn is glenn, ive been waiting patiently for the a holes to call me.   ive been waiting with more anticipation than I have been for years. My plan was in place.  Just now after dinner we got a call from a 999 number. Yes Operation Sacred Cow was in motion.  I played along and the wife was listening in on my astonishment that Microsoft has such a good tech support program to be able to sense our problems and yes our computer was a mess of late and please how can you help us?   The guy asked me if we were having problems with the computer crashing?  Ye, it seems to have gotten worse in the last few days I responded as I motioned fran to follow me to the truck while this guy actually said “oh my god this is terrible , I can help you”.  I said “you must help me as my whole life is on our computer”.  I was going to the truck to get my emergency alert whistle.  the wife thought I was more than out there walking to the truck with some Microsoft tech on line.   The guy then wanted to log onto our computer and fix our problem.  I said “yes I need that…”. Then I blew the whistle as loud as I could 3 time s and told the guy “ take this you f in [***] and I am coming to stick a dead cow up your mothers behind and your whole family until they cry for mercy. As I blew the whistle a few more times.  He was screaming in the back ground and I then told the a hole that if I ever came to india I would personally find him and make him eat a rancid dead cow in front of his children.   Needless to say I don’t think we will be getting anymore 999 calls…………if we all do this they will get the message.  dont call us at dinner time and expect to eat crow cause instead it may be cow

There needs to be something done about these types of calls like I am getting from 999-910-0310. It rings two times then stops, when I do answer no one is there or this last time I went to hang up and then I heard a voice it was to late. I tried to call back to blast that MF-ER but it doesn't take incoming calls. I too am on the do not call list and have been for as long as that list has been out, YEARS!!! Now what??? They call more than once, who is going to but that BS about virus on our computer!! Ya right, some random idiot calls my phone and I am going to do what he says. UNREAL!! Today they woke me up and I have had it!!!

They just called me about 5 minutes ago.  Didn't answer because I'm sick of all these calls from area codes I don't recognize and they didn't leave a message. Glad I know what it's about now so that next time I can handle it.

They called us back again just now.  My husband used some explicit language to tell him not to call back and hung up.  The caller actually called back to swear back at my husband.  This is unreal.

This number just called here.  They used a different number before and I threatened them with going to the FBI and whoever else I could go to and it did stop the calls for a while.  How can these idiots be allowed to get away with this? I am going to send this page to Microsoft!  Maybe this will help!

I've received 2 calls this week from this number. As previous posts state, "Unknown Caller" and the 999... phone number appears in my caller ID. I must say I'm somewhat amused at the comments y'all make! Why do so many folks answer the phone even when the name or number is not recognized on Caller ID? I guess everyone has their reason.

Here's what we've been doing for several years now, 'cause about 99.5% of the calls we receive are unwanted calls (telemarketers, scammers, political calls, non-profits, etc.), mostly those who are exempt from the "Do Not Call Registry" rules or who don't care:
    1. Our land-line is only used for unwanted calls. Whenever we're asked for our phone number (contests, rebates, registrations, insurance companies, banks, church directory, whatever), we give out the land-line number. This number is guaranteed to be 'sold' to mass marketers.
    2. Our answering machine is set to answer after the 2nd ring with the volume turned down. No annoying late night wake-up calls (usually from "Unknown" and no messages left anyway). I check my answering machine sometimes daily and review the numbers.
    3. We ONLY give out our cell phone numbers to who we want to have them. Over the past 10 years that we've had the same 2 cell numbers, we've never received an unwanted call ... except I think we've had a total of 4-5 "wrong numbers".

This may not work for everyone, but it's certainly made our "phone lives" more bearable! Whenever I want to be amused, I 'Google' these unknown numbers and read your posts! Phone scammers will never go away. The 'Do Not Call Registry' is a joke, just like reporting to the Better Business Bureau. Do you really think Ivan, Kashmir, Chun Li, or Krhkbttski really care about the Registry or BBB?!!

    Just my 2-cents worth!

My husband just received a call from this number on his cell phone. Same scam, but once the heavily-accented indian man heard that we have macs instead of PCs, he responded, "You have a mac? Then just forget it!"

Too bad we didn't have a whistle on-hand!
