This number called, but did not leave a message.  I have my resume posted on Monster, so I can only assume it is the same situation as those above.

This number belongs to NILICO http://nilico.com/index.html It is a life Insurance company, they called me as well and set up an interview, the got my number off my resume from careerbuilder.com. They called me from Queens, NY, they are located on 30-50 Whitestone Expressway. I became suspicious when they gave me directions to get there and asked me to come in trough the rear of the building, and when I asked the lady who called me, Ms. Shavon, what the name of the company was, she said the company was called "the Pappas Group", but when I called during after hours, the recording identified the company as NILICO, NOT "the Pappas Group". I learned through another forum that others who have gone to the interviews reported that the job involves selling insurance through telemarketing and going from door to door, commission based, not salary based, and you have to pay your own expenses. Not for me, I'm skipping the interview.

A message from a lady called Davina. She claimed to see my resume on hot jobs. She said she was calling from HR dept of National Inca, she asked  if I was interested in opportunities & interviewing time can set up right away. I believe this is similar situation that Lawdawg (previous posting) wrote. I know I do not have a resume posted currently on hot jobs. I do not plan on calling her back.

I got a call today from this number .  In the beginning, he identified the company and the group.  But as the call went on, there  was something I did not like about it.
For instance, they chose me for a managerial position right away but when it came to me resume he did not know about my field.
When I came home , I immediately googled the "pappas group" name and thankfully I came across your comments. It is beautiful that other people shared their experience so that I avoid the trip to 30-50 Whitestone Expressway.

I got a call from them last week.  I became leary when the said come the backdoor.  And through this forum made me realize the only "backdoor" is them. They made a [***] (oops "backdoor") out of themselves.

I just got a voice message from them too about a management position. I did a google search and see "the Pappas Group" is insurance related, my background, however, is environmental preservation, urban planning, and public policy, so I'm not certain why "the Pappas Group" would call me about a management position with an insurance firm. When I called, the taped recording said "Nilico". Obviously something is amiss here. Thank you all for your posts, it helped me make my decision not to pursue this. I must say even the voice message sounded a bit "slippery" and "scammy".

    BEWARE: Don't waste your time.
This number belongs to NILICO (National Income Life Insurance Co.) http://nilico.com/index.html . They called me as well and set up an interview, the got my number off my resume posted online. They called me from Queens, NY, they are located on 30-50 Whitestone Expressway.  Unfortuantly, i fell for their crap & traveled from Bensonhurst, Brooklyn to them in a terriable rainy weather.  They interviewed me for 5 minutes & then they dismissed me. Probably, they saw that I am asking too many questions about them, since I started becoming suspicious once I saw that numerous people were coming in & out for an interview.  (The place looked like a chicken market!).  End result was total waste of time (total 4 hours including travel time) & money.

This is a follow from my first posting. Davina has called me once a week for the past 2 weeks. I have not called her back and don't plan too.

Here is another blog from people who posts the same complaints about this company:

thanks for the warning.  Just got a call this morning from a guy, Nick, at the group.  Same message about the "backdoor."  Made an interview for next week..will be cancelled.  I have no time to waste.  This is the second time the company called me.  The first time was about a month ago from a lady at NILCO.  Told me it was insurance...wasn't interested.  I guess they have many guises!

They won't be wasting my time!

Thanks for the heads-up.  I just got a call from "Gloria" who assured me I was qualified for a management position with her company which manages benefits for unions (she mentioned NYPD, ACLU, MCA, etc.).  She sounded very professional, but asked me if I had any management experience.  As my resume clearly states my experience and job titles (manager, supervisor, etc.) if she had actually read it, what she should've said was,  "tell me about your management experience..." not "Do you have management experience?"  That was my first red flag.  The second was when she told me to come through the back door of the Whitestone Expwy address. I made an appt for this Tuesday, but I do believe something will come up and I will have to cancel it.

Thank you so much I got a message from a lady name Kim, I had a funny feeling about the whole thing. The interview was on Saturday, the name on the voicemail (Nilico) is not the name she gave me (The Pappas Group) for the company.  Thank you for saving my Saturday, I need my rest.

Thank you so much about this valuable information. I got a call yesterday from a man called Dwayne Cameron who said he was very impressed about my resume. My interview is scheduled for tomorrow at 6PM and thanks to you, I'll take a pass on that. By the way, the job I thought I applied for was "Benefits Manager".
