This appears to be a scam where they tell you they can run your pc efficently by doing a virus scan and update and if you fall for it they can hack into your pc!!

Got similar calls from 001202 over the last few weeks, and when I answered today, an asian sounding guy told me he was from an internet pc doctor calling about my problem with my windows operating system. When I asked him which one, he hung up immediately. Scary thing is that he knew my surname.

I also just got a call from a guy from 00112. He sounded Asian or Indian with an incredibly fake sounding American accent. Also asked about windows operating system virus check. I said I didn't have time for this now, and he promptly hung up.

The phone rang, as soon as I answered it hung up, I dialled 1471 to find out and as soon as the service said 00112 etc.. I became suspicious as the rest of the number is very long, so everyone beware of these scammers, they don't like to be found out.
If you answer from your phone that is NOT connected to a PC they immediately hang up, but if you have your phone and answer from your PC, you could be in trouble as the scammers grab your computer informations and HACK into it!

Called today - said I had problems with PC.
I'm a systems analyst and work with PC developments - so I asked what the problem was.
They said they needed access to the PC to be able to give me exact problem.
Kept them on the line for around 30 minutes - saying I would check various bits and them give them access to fix.
Obviously did not give access - but it was fun !

Usual "We have detected a problem with your computer" malarkey. I asked him for my MAC Address and he said that yes, he knew it was an Apple Mac. Absolute amateurs. Told him I don't own any Apple products and that he was an extremely poor fraud. He started to get offensive which made me laugh.
Next time it happens, I'm going to ask if I can phone them back in a few minutes as I am busy. Hopefully I'll be able to get a number to report... :)

I've had 2 or 3 calls like this in the past couple of weeks. First one had an Asian accent but when I asked him where he was calling from he said "Windows technical department in Sydney Australia"!!!
I asked him "What's the weather like in Sydney at the moment?" He said it was warm and sunny. I pointed out that it was 3 o'clock in the morning in Australia at the moment. No response. I then asked him why Microsoft would contact me from Australia when they have offices in the UK. No response.
Luckily the donkeys who are making these scam calls are not the world's most intelligent citizens. I suppose that when you're brought up in a country where lies, dishonesty and corruption are part of normal everyday life for many.
If in doubt divulge no information. Hang up and report it to your local Microsoft office.
