00117

Called me saying I had already paid £49 to stop strange calls I asked when they said Id paid im March (no such thing) then they said Id lose my money if I stopped it. I guess they wanted my details but I just said forget it and put phone down.

I got a call from this number saying that my gmail email had been hacked by someone in malaysia and would I turn on my computer and let them do some checks for me. They said they were genuinely from Google Gmail. But my email was hacked before and I just got an email telling me that and to change some of my mail settings. Also they only have my mobile as a contact number and they rang on the landline. So I just hung up the phone. I think it could be like those calls that are supposedly from Microsoft and they're not. If anyone else has had this kind of experience please let me know.

Call supposedly from microsoft advising my computer had been compromised and asking for access to sort it for me. Told them I was busy and to phone back.

(sorry i m french so excuse my english) i got a call form this number saying that my laptop has an expired certificate and i needed to update or else my pc could be hacked by anyone or could crash so i left the control of my computer (beceause he said if he take any personnal info he would lose his job) to one of his technician and he used "Support-LogMeInRescue.exe" and advanced system care , opened the gestionnaire des taches (i don t know the name in english ) and another window .He told me that my pc was in a critical state and i needed to pay 230€(or 130€ it was hard to understand) to buy a new liscence and it will be paid off but i didn t paid i say i had no money.

The caller asked me whether I needed a free boiler installed.

Just had a phone call from 001172307860 I didn't answer it,so I don't know what they wanted

I have received 2 phone calls from a guy with a foreign accent claiming to be from Micro soft. I said to him. "So you want me to put on my computer so that you can access my bank details. Do you think I am stupid" then I told him that I was recording the call. The line went dead. I just hope I have scared him off. Time will tell.

have had several calls from these Indian w****rs telling me I have a computer problem. I string them along for as long as possible and then finally tell them I am a computer programmer. Strange how they then hang up!!

Same as kim lower, I've mentioned that I'm a computer programmer and have passed microsoft exams but that didn't put them off. Telling them I didn't have a computer didn't stop the calls, Eventually I said I only have a tablet which I guess is more believable and I haven't had a call since

I get regular calls from 00117. Just pick the phone up and put it back down. Why don't BT just block all calls from this number? I'm sure they could if they could be bothered!

I had several calls from 00117 today from someone from 'Windows ..." (something or other) in Manchester.  Hearing his strange accent I immediately told him we don't accept cold calls.  He then went on about a problem with my computer and threatened to block it.  I threatened to trace the call and report it to the police.  Every time I put the phone down he rang straight back with more threats so I told him he could talk as long as he liked and left the phone off the hook.  If he rings again I'll find an annoying radio programme to listen to.  The audacity of these creeps!!

Why don't *you* block them?

Given that call blockers readily available and isn't exactly difficult to block incoming calls from overseas, stop being so bloody lazy!

Jeez! How difficult is it to grasp that numbers beginning '00' originate from overseas, "Manchester" !

Stop showing your stupidity!

I got called this morning saying there was something wrong with my computer.. I stopped the guy and asked them to take me off their list/database.... he said NO !!! I asked pardon then he proceeded to tell me "i want to F*** you"!!! I was stunned and hung up instantly ,  if that had of been my child that answered the phone, Its absolutely ridiculous!!! I rang BT they informed me they are international and unfortunately there is no way to stop or trace them.  She advised me about the BT8500 handset which i am seriously considering.

Foreign sounding man rang today claiming to be BT and saying they were going to suspend our internet service due to illegal downloading affecting the local area! Wanted me to turn my computer on - I just put the phone down! Clear hoax!

plagued by these numbers please stop them

we have blocked all calls with number withheld and we are registered for the telephone preference service. Despite this, calls from 00117 keep getting through and are very annoying. we received three in the last 24 hours. We always put the phone down, but they keep on contacting us.
