Got a call from this number Jan 24th, didnt answer as the number seemed off. Who is this??

Got a call from 00 88888888 didn't answer only thing I put my number on a car advert on eBay

No numbers are secret, they start with 4 numbers for the network which are well known, then 6 numbers for the sim. An auto dialing computer starts at 000001 and keeps going until 999999, then it probably repeats, any numbers that succeed in connecting probably get saved to a list which then connects some PPI or scammer to you.

But don't worry, if you tell them to go away they just sell your number to a hundred other people who will then all try to scam you.

There is a massive market for selling on contact details, even if it wasn't an auto dialer you will never know who sold it on.

got call from this number 5-6 missed calls and finally a call on 30 dec 2013, and person said calling from chandigarh etcetc........................

Number blocked now, so no more.

Use the PPS to stop 99% of these calls.

I've had several calls from this number, the number comes up alternating with International, I never answer calls unless I recognise the number which I suspect are scam calls. No authority seems to be able to or can't be bothered to stop such calls.

Phoned and told me that my IP address had been hacked and wanted me to turn on computer.he told me that they were based in Finchley North London. I let him tell me as much as possible and then said I had to go out and not able to turn on my computer Scam
