Had a call from them today at 14:31. Like many said a 1 ring cut. And tried calling back 3 times but the call does not get through. So I am guessing its a hoax. On one of the caller ID apps i use it showed a name "SARS Moseje Thokoza" whoever that is.

Likely I was on the meeting under this tough times I was going to give away my account number

I got a call from this number they said they are from SARS asked for my birth date and asked me to send relavent documents to SARS by monday. He only asked my birth date, and asked me to send my IRP5 and relavent documents. It did not sound like a scam to me.

IRP5s are generated and pre populated on the sars system. why do they want them from you?

Wow, glad to see the responses. I wont lie if I say this number is phoning me weekly for the past 3 years! Ridiculous isnt it! They are looking for Dallas Transport. Hundreds literally hundreds of times I tell them this is the wrong number. Ive pleaded with them to remove my number from their system as I am a private individual. So January I phoned THE REAL SARS, asking them to remove and check out why "sars" has been harrasing me the past 3 years - just to tell me after checking my ID that SARS has no business phoning me as my taxes are up to date. So today again these people phone from this number, utter RUDE! They do not identify themselves, I suspect its some debt collections because they told me if I do not co operate they will PROCEED! lol. I asked sars what I should do and they told me to fill in the online fraud suspicion form of some sort. Ive done that. But still they phone. Ive been nice explaining, Ive been rude. Ive been told to block theur number at my service provider. Ive been told to co operate BY REAL SARS just to get info on these people. They are just so rude. And that to someone they are actually not even looking for. If they are debt collectors they should know that there are certain rules they have to abide by they can not go around threatening people. Good luck, hope someone can find out who this company is so they can be reported to the council of debt collectors.

I just got a call from this number, they only say they are from SARS, they use your full names but their details sound sketchy, they don't even provide you with a ref number... I think someone is selling out out information to people, I owe SARS but a inquest has been put through and I have the numbers tracked and I'm still waiting for feed back... People like these parasite on unsuspecting people...

I received a call, the person requesting to speak to me on my maiden name (changed more than 10 years ago).  He was referring to a case of my company reported at the SSMO during July 2015.  He had more than enough information, and then he started to give me a go because I'm not a registered tax practitioner.  HELLO.... I'm the bookkeeper, the auditors of the company is registered tax practitioners.  He wanted my ID and home address which I refused to give as that has nothing to do with the complaint lodged at SSMO (and still not completed).  Besides, how did he contact me on my cellphone number, from SARS on my maiden name for a company I've been working for since April 2015 - the letter was sent from our business e-mail address, with the business contact details, and I was contacted on my cellphone number which is not listed on the company records and is also not even listed on the e-filing profile I use of the company.  Does not makes sense.  I had been harassed before to change my number and move to another place because somebody posed to be from "SARS" and had enough information of myself and I suspect this is the same person.  I also wonder if it is not somehow related to the TV licenses ... I also get calls from them (referring to my maiden name).  My husband have his TV license, and they just don't understand that.

This is a genuine call from SARS as I have received a call as well and they quoted a case no which I had originally queried with them.  Mine was from the efiling department.

I've read the comments and if it is Sars then why don't they send letters? They are constantly calling you and I had called and even went to Sars, the people don't know the number. Isn't there something that can be done to these people and how did they get one's cell no? Yeez, they are wasting time and effort and how can you owe Sars if you don't even worked your whole life and when you done working you go to Sars and report that you don't work. Somebody is scamming somehow and putting a persons health in jeopardy. And I'm on my way to Sars to see what my current status are and why are their debt collectors ate calling me.

This is not a legit SARS number.  They phoned me on a work landline, trying to obtain information from a relative (that is not correct!).  This is a hoax and they are not SARS officials. After providing them a run down of SARS protocol and procedures of how SARS actually do work, they did placed the phone down - very abruptly in my ear.   Being tax alert and aware of the legislation, this is not procedures of protocol of how it works.  Be careful out there.
