I had a message to call Elizabeth as she had found my details on Monster. I called and she wasnt there but her colleague asked the reason for my call. She then made me appointment for the next day and said she would email the detials of their address and company etc so I knew where to go. She also asked me to take my passport as proof of ID.  I didnt receive the email, so went online to try and find their website and couldnt. I found the above reviews, so decided against going to their office in Birmingham!!!! Thank you all for writing your reports, you have saved me a long journey and my time.

Just got a call from a girl named Amy Paul 20 minutes ago - private number - asking if I'd like to show up for a consultation session at The Business Academy in Birmingham on Monday at 11.30am regarding a career in the IT industry that will pay between 18-28K.

She sent me an email confirming my session, and I googled the company to find this page. After reading all this, definitely won't be going. She told me she found my CV on Totaljobs.com. (Anyone know how I can complain to them? This is the third time I've been scammed!)

Consider it very un-nice of them to raise my hopes, given the fact that my student visa expires in 4 months time and I'd really love to find work before then.

Had a missed call from this number today. There was a message from a 'Lisa at the Business Development Acadamy' in Birmingham. Tried calling back and just went to answer phone. Then checked them out online and figured out its just another 'training' scam.

I'm so fed up of going to the Jobcentre and hearing about 'all the jobs' advertised online, but every time I register my CV with a site or apply to anything I just keep getting these kind of scams! Someone needs to crack down on these criminals.

I'd a call last week from Business development academy regarding IT job. Went for an interview at Fredricks Place, Old Jewry. Found out, it wasnt an interview but just a consultation for a training which she said was about £9000! Her name was Maria. She offerred to check if I could get a student loan and it went through (now I wish it was declined!). So she said that she'll enroll me for a trial period of 15 days and I could cancel my membership anytime. What I did not know until I read my registration papers at home and called bank next day. Bank told me they had already taken a loan against my name and it could only be cancelled by them!! Its been 4 days now since I sent an email for cancellation to BDA, yet no acknowledgment if my application is being processed??? (The only way they accept cancellation is through email!). I dont know what's going to happen, just want to get out of this and can just make people aware so that they are not stuck in a place where I am!!!

This is a total scam!  These people call you up and make a vague description of some kind of interview for you to attend, they make you feel as though it is a job interview/opportunity, but in reality what they're doing is lining you up for a sales pitch!!

You walk in, they claim to be a hugh multinational company yet they work in a dingy run-down office in the city centre alongside 20 - 50 other companies working in the same place probably totally legitimate companies.

I MEAN IT - STAY AWAY!  THE GUY AT THE TOP HAS BEEN TO COURT COUNTLESS TIMES FOR HIS LIES - HIS NAME IS AHMED BATTI.  SPREAD THE WORD - YOU ALL WORK HONEST AND HARD - WHY LET THESE SCAMMERS MAKE MILLIONS OFF YOUR HOPES AND DREAMS?

I received a call as well from sophie farren asking me if i was still unemployed, as the call were coming out of the blue, i asked how they had got my details, but she said she was not allowed to tell me.. then i said i had no experience in the financial field and she said they would provide a training..
i went to frederic s place in london, thinking they might interview me and then pay for my training!! on the email to confirm the interview , they asked me to come well dressed..i have to pay 2000 pounds as a deposit and 160 for 36 months after my first month of employment, i was thinking it was a good deal considering you are supposed to earn between 25k -30k but now i am reading all these comments, i am not sure anymore.
yes me too, i would love to hear about someone who did this course.

I have just been called by the same company, someone called Vicky,  advising they saw my CV on totaljobs, and arranging an appointment for tomorrow in Cardiff Bay. I asked if it was an interview and was I to go suited and booted, but she said no, and she would send me an email with further details which I havent yet received to check.
She said they specialised in IT, but full training courses would be provided, and they would place me in a £22000 plus job.
I just googled them to find out more, I didnt even realise scams like this existed, and was going to go tomorrow to find out more...im not sure now!

I went to sign up to do a financial training course here, but backed out! they told me i had to get a loan from the bank my self and to come back and sign up, it all seemed very un professional they gave me a letter with their  "very budget" looking logo at the bottom, i was embarressed to even take it to the bank for a loan. At first the consultant i saw Sophie (who looked about 15 like all the other girls there!) made it sound like a good opurtunity for me but after talking to some of their current students and researching the company i realised it was a scam!!! ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS TAKING YOUR MONEY THEY DO NOT FIND YOU A JOB AFTERWARDS!! you will just end up £8000 in debt and with a bad credit rating. DO NOT BOTHER TURNING UP TO THE CUSULTATION IT HONESTLY IS A SCAM!!!!

Was called by a lady called Ellie on a private number and she worked for 'academies international' she sounded utterly depressed. On reading all of these comments I can see why. It appears to me to be pyramid sales but the product is 'training'. There will be NO job at the end of this, the government might credit them with something because if you take it you arent unemployed anymore but in 'training'.

Don't give these scammy tw*ts your time, there are HUNDREDS of these companies operating at the minute in the UK. ALl promise entry level jobs, promotion opportunities and management potential etc, its all utter bollo**s and you basically work for yourself while they use you. In this case it seems they take out loans in your name! They get the capital of 8k+ to invest as they see fit, they then give you 11 days training, you then owe the bank 8k and have nothing to show.

    Hi Guys,

I have just signed up to the company because it offered me a job, but now i have found this, and other sites, which say it is a scam.

As you can imagine I am very worried and want to cancel my contract with them.

They are a difficult company to deal with so has anyone got any tips or information on how to deal with them?

I appreciate any help you can give.

    Thank you.

I was also scammed by The Business Development Academy and I hope my
apalling experiences will be a warning to others.

I attended the London site in May 2009. It was ill-equipped and badly
taught. Start and finish times were ignored. There were no books. We had to
share computer equipment and even installation CDs (which were unlicensed
    copies of the software).

It was impossible to learn in that environment, so I complained. Nothing was
done about my complaints, so I quit. TBDA promised me a replacement course
but could not guarentee a decent level of instruction so, in the end, I
instructed a solicitor. TBDA never replied to the solicitor's letter and I
could not (for obvious reasons of being in need of a job) afford to continue
    the action at the time.

I have consulted Consumer's Direct and the CAB and written to Watchdog, but
    without success.

At the moment, I have another solicitor who is prepared (for a fee) to look
at the case and, if it is hopeful, sue the company on a 'no win, no fee'
    basis.

Another option I am considering is the small claims court but I don't know
    much about it.

More evidence of the scam may be found here:
    http://illandancient.blogspot.com/2009/07/wha ... f-into-now.html and here
    http://www.certforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=34810.

I really feel that this dreadful scam needs to be exposed and its
perpetrators punished. If anyone can think of a way we can combine to sue
them, then I am in with you. Surely there are enough of us with enough
evidence to close this dishonest firm down (and reclaim our losses).
