I've read through all the comments above because it's been happening to me and I've never even called CR Smith before - only got my landline installed a few weeks ago.

I've just called the 0800 number and spoke to a lovely lady called Corinna and she apologised profusely - she's obviously used to this!  That number is part of an automated system which they don't have control over so it rings a number then just goes to the next number on the list.  I suggested they cancel that number but it is actually used by their sales team apparently. But this would explain why there is no answer at the other end if you pick up.

Anyway, she's taken my number off the system (well, the request will go through by midnight tonight) - I will report back here either way.

This number called and my mum answered, when the person was told I wasn't in they hung up before my mum could take a message.  Again I'm registered not to receive any sales call.  CR Smith should go and jump of bridge!

Calls on a fax line that is listed with TPS and then they don't answer when picked up.

Another 'Silent call' from CR Smith. Phone rings. You pick it up. They hang up and rely on you using 1471 to call them back to find out who it is. Or something...

Pff.

Im so fed up with them calling me every day sometimes 2 times a day and when i answer there is no reply. A group of ignorant people with nothing better to do than call people constantly. SAYS ALOT FOR THE COMPANY!!!!!!!

In an industry populated by cowboys C R Smith are the worst of the lot. They pester you until you agree to purchase their substandard windows and if you dare to complain about their inferior product they refuse point blank to do anything about it. This lot could not spell quality. Be warned avoid C R Smith at all costs.

I called 1471 to come across this forum, I feel a little luckier than most of you as we placed an order several months ago, after paying the deposit we received a letter about a week later saying they would not be doing the job as we had been quoted too cheaply! I thought there was a recession!  Anyhow it sounds like we had a lucky escape

Yep this numbers been trying to get me for ages now, but I dont have an answerfone and am out at work most days too so not bothered.
At least I know now its nothing exciting and will just continue to ignore it....

Just got a phone call off this number at 8.40PM!!!!!!!!!!!

Tried to phone it back as i was busy getting my son ready for bed and they wouldnt answer.
Searched net and this forum came up so took the 0800 number off previous post and basically told me they have tried to phone me since January! I dont answer unknown numbers but after over 50 calls in the past month decided to find out who it was. Woman was very blunt with me on the phone and even read out the wrong phone number they had been trying to call. I told her it had really pissed me off as after 6pm i do not expect to be phoned by a company trying to sell me bloody windows!!

phone rings most days and sods law whenever i am just about to answer it obviously it rings off.  Tried phoning them back to a reply of mail box is full,  typed the number into the computer and saw im not the only one. I only briefly spoke to a CR Smith  salesman in Safeway a couple of months ago and now the continually pester me.  Maybe for thier own good its best the phone rings off before i get to it as i mege cheesed off.  Thanks for letting me moan for a minute feel better!

I'm getting this number calling me all the time although I've never been near the phone to pick it up in time. I called their customer services on 0800200444 and complained that I was registered with TPS and that they shouldn't be cold calling me. I've been assured now that my number has been taken off their database - time will tell.

Same problem as Norrie...this is very annoying and there should be a law against it!!!!!

keep calling me about windows i got a quote from them for a laugh for my windows it was £7500 supply and fit  im a joiner and did the job for £2350 just shows you how much they overcharge

They called us tonight after 8 pm.  When my wife said she was mrs smith they hanged up.

A little hint for u all if u didnt answer the phone so rudly the their agents will be polite. their service is exceptional from sales to safter care 100%. i had my windows fitted 2 years ago and 1 started to condense on the inside. no q's asked they cam and replaced it. i have experience working in call centers and you have to remember these are people earning a wage!! so be polite if you want ask them to remove ur number and live a happy life. rant over!!
