Rings and hangs up soon as answered.when called back just rings out.anyone know who it is?

Callcame in at 8am asking if MR XXX still lives at no 56. I said don't know who are you. Caller said something like from Westcourt and hung up called them back. Engaged called again no answer.

This number called our phone last night - we did not get to the phone in time.  Called again a few mins ago.  Wanted to know if a Mr. Park still lived up the road as they havd some returned mail.  I would not give any inforomation out and nor would she - "we are just a company wanting to know if we shold send the mail back out".

Same as above. Wanted to know if a Mr Rennington lived at number 56. I said there is no number 56 house on the street and to tell me who they are. They just said " we're just some company" and then hung up. Very creepy.

i have same complaint as above, some 1 plz tell me the solution

inturruped me during class. I tried calling but no answer or busy tone
i actually thought it was a company calling me for an interview.

caled me 1.30 today.started 'errr is a mr Gould there'
i said sorry wrong number,but was cut off before i could finish sentence,
rang back,engaged all the time.v odd!

This number appears to belong to this KCOM Plc. You can contact them on 08009159000. Why don't you call them and ask them some stupid questions

They ring us all the time and hang up as soon as we answer, a few times we have picked it up to a silent line for about thirty seconds before they then hang up. Today though they called and asked if I knew if such and such still stays somewhere, when I said I didn't they just hung up.

Bit of digging and it looks like they are a debt collection and tracing firm. Wescot. The reason I say Wescot is because the first comment said "Westcourt" and the number 01482 is in Hull which is where they are based looking at their site full of inane grinning idiots.
How professional of them to be harrassing people with these silent calls if this is their method of "tracing" people. Calling up anybody on the street constantly then putting the phone down. Man I wanna swear.. been annoying for ages. Wonder if Ofcom or the Financial Services Authority would have anything to say about their practices.. I suggest we find out.

Quite how they can get away with the Data Protection laws by asking all and sundry on the street whether somebody still lives there is beyond me..
Caller - "Ok, it's not hard to find out that I am harrassing you from a debt collection call centre and I am making enquiries about your good friend Mr X who lives up the road, please don't assume he is in loads of debt"

Just had a call from this number asking if Mr **** still lives at 77.  That's all they said!  I said 77 where? Then told them I didn't have a clue. Made me suspicious which is why I googled the number and found this page.  I actually don't know who they are talking about anyway.

they get the phone no's form a BT data serch,
fi you call hull or glasgow they will get you off there list,
it is a lazy way of debt collecting without paying a Bailif,

yes i too have had this problem and it's actually a criminal offence for them to do this under the Administration of Justice Act 1970

If you have received these calls is is VERY importatnt for you to report these to the Trading Standards to get this STOPPED. Had several calls from neighbours saying this number had called them asking if someone, actually one of my daughters who moved out several years ago, lived at No 17.  These calls are against the Adminstration of Justice Act 1970.

Keeps ringing my old neighbours up asking if i still live there. no i dont but very creepy

Had this number ring me this evening. After saying "hello" three times, a male with a Glasweigan accent asked me "Does Mr Lister still live at number 15?" ... Before I could even ask any questions about who they are, he hung up. I work for the Emergency Services and have received many complaints about this, however never experienced it myself first hand.

This lot phoned me on Monday and I ignord teh call so I could check this website.  They called back yesterday and a Glaswegian man asked "is that Mrs nnnn"? He used my previous name (I was married in February and am still in the process of changing it) so I said "no" but he carried on regardless and said he wanted to speak to me about Mr Other Neighbour.  I cut him short and told him I knew exactly where he was calling from, at which he said he wasn't hiding anything, he worked for Wescot Credit Services and he denied that he was doing anything illegal by phoning me.  I told him I had nothing to say to him and he asked if I wanted him to hang up. I told him I wanted him to hang up and remove my name from their files as I never want to hear from them again.

When I hung up I called Consumer Direct straight away to make a complaint.  Apparently the Administration of Justice is act is only applicable in England, not Scotland.  Trading Standards called me back and the lady I spoke to said that there were other things they could be charged with in Scotland including harrassment.  I'm a member of the TPS so they shouldn't be phoning me anyway! Perhaps if enough people complain to Trading Standard it can stop these people.

I should have provided the details for reporting these people to Trading Standards yesterday. Call Consumer Direct on 08454 040506.  They will take details and give you a case refence number.  They'll pass the details on to your local Trading Standards office and someone will call you back.

A neighbour called us and told us he had a call from this number asking who lived at our address. We know previous tenents left owing some money to a firm. After 2 years of returning their mail back to sender I give up.
