Does anybody know who this number belongs to

Tried to tell me I had won a free carpet shampoo in one room of my house.  I only had to recommend them to friends if I was pleased with the result.  Tried to tell caller I did not have a room as I had moved in and was replacing the carpets in the house.  He was persistent so I agreed to a bedroom.  He then started to ask information I was not prepared to give him.  He also said both my partner and I had to be in when they called.  Why?? I decided not to proceed with the call.

Two days ago two men knocked on my door and gave me a card to say I would be entered into a draw to win a Nissan Micra.  All I had to do was, if I won, to tell everyone about their company.  The info on the back was RTS Services of Lincoln, UK so I thought they were car salesmen/repairers.  They said 'No, they sold electrical equipment.'  I gave them my name and phone number (later on thought that I was a twit for doing that) and that I would be in the draw to win the MIcra.  After they had left I read the card and realised what it was all about.  Along with the 'big draw' to win the car was also smaller daily draws and, if you won, they would contact you.  It says on the card ' you would receive a gift for watching, along with your partner, a demonstration of a Complete Homecare System in the comfort of your own home.'  

Surprise, Surprise, today came the phone call to say I had won a prize.  They offered to clean a carpet of my house.  I said my carpets were only six months old and did not need cleaning. They put the phone down on me.  Wonder if I will win that car?!!

Picked up this number today and got what sounded like a very noisy call centre.  They asked to speak to (a name) who I've never heard of.  I told them they must have a wrong number and they rang off.  I have been receiving mailshots once or twice a year for about 15 years since a company came in and cleaned a carpet for me.  The charged £50 then and the cleaning was crap.  I don't know if it is the same company but Lincoln rings a bell.

got 2 calls from this number today they did'nt leave a message on my answer machine and when i rang them back on my mobile i got a recording saying no one was free i said they had rung twice and if i knew them to ring again i didn't leave my number as i told them they knew it as they had already rung so far i haven't heard anymore from them so here's hoping

I too had someone to my door offering me an entry to a £1000 free draw and all I had to do is give him my name and phone number.

Since then I have been getting missed calls from 01522-306127, and also from 07857340070 and 07857339954.

Eventually they rang and I answered it was the 07857339954 number that had called me. The person on the phone confirmed that I had been entered into the draw and I had already won a free carpet clean. I suspect that this free carpet clean is very easy to win as my parents also won one.

The £1000 prize draw is open for entries from 1/3/2012 to 31/5/2012 and the winner's name will be published at www.1000cashdraw.com at the moment this site just displays a default empty page. The site is registered to Paul Strodder (see below).

The distributor on the back of the draw ticket is listed as: JB Midlands, Ground Floor, RTS House, Long Leys Road, Lincoln, LN1 1DX (tel: 01522-535513).

I had a young man on my doorstep who gave me a draw ticket asked for my number which I stupidly gave and wished me luck in the draw.
Two days later on a Sunday I got the call to say i had won a carpet clean and that they could
fit me in the next day, my partner is away and they insisted he be there, he said he would ring back, can't wait!!!
I asked how many others in the road had won as its a long road and I never win anything, he said no one but the next village had been lucky.
Whats this all about?

They are Kirby vacuum cleaner sales people. Just been to my place.  Have to say the guy was really nice and not pushy but he was in the house a few hours.  He did take no for an answer and did clean the stair carpet like they said they would. I gave him some referral numbers but i kind of wish i hadn't now.  The kirby is ridiculous money altho it seems to be a good product, i'd rather spend 2 and a half grand on other priorities.

My word, I fell for this one at the front door the other day, chap dressed up like a pox doctors assistant of the 1960's. When I read the back of the card, I realized what I had set myself up for; but too late. two days later comes the phone call, I have won a free carpet clean - big deal!
I told him that I did not want an of his services and that if I won the money, it should go to his favourite charity. He doesn't listen though, he just talks. That phone call to me - number withheld - was harrassing  and I have informed the Strodders that if they persist on calling me I will seek action under the Protection from Harassment Act and the Malicious Communications Act.

The company is rts services do not trust them as far as you can throw them all you will win is a free carpet shampoo and demo you never win the car I should know I used to work for them
All they do is sell Kirby home cleaning systems and charge you a fortune to service the machined and the people you get out to service then are complete crooks they will Di anything to get money out of you I watched one of their engineers stick a screwdriver through a pipe just so he could get paid to replace it
STEER CLEAR

Well I for one was unhappy with their service. They couldn't even remove the indelible stain of sin that permeated my lounge upholstery. After a 30 minute "deep clean" they had failed to remove the shadow of Belial that had adorned my sofa. I don't recommend them!

I had these guys on the door step today. I fell for it I have to admit. As soon as I shut the door it sort of kicked myself. Anyway, I am now awaiting the said phone call with a grin on my face.

Just done some more digging and this domain name gets moved around a lot, So the info I found today may change over time.

Paul strodder is nothing to do with the company or the selling, he is a website maker and a graphic designer. So he will design website for the company and most likely the paper work and raffle

A neighbour of mine fell for this 'free prize draw' malarky ... as others have said, it's merely a way of getting names, addresses & phone numbers: and of course by agreeing to take part people unwittingly give their "consent" to be called by pushy vacuum-cleaner tele-sales people!

Anyway, what happened was that a section of my (elderly) neighbour's lounge carpet was cleaned ... leaving her with an odd-looking patch: obviously she was then going to have to pay someone to clean the rest of the carpet to match the bit that had been done by the Kirby salesman! (Or, of course, she could buy a Kirby vacuum cleaner and do it herself ... which is hardly likely as these things cost over £1,500! It's Cheaper to replace the carpet every time it becomes grubby!)

Apparently the guy remained in her house for 3 hours uttering 'sales-speak' all the time. She only got rid of him by pretending to be ill.

Surely there MUST be 'something in it' for Paul Stodder ... otherwise why risk gaining a depressingly negative business reputation by being linked to such a dislikeable firm as Kirby?

Good reporting them to the ICO. The criminal fraudsters like Anthony Simister who run scams like to plant stooges on these forums to discourage honest folk from contacting the ICO or Ofcom. Ignore them. Data criminals don't want the hassle, bad publicity or fines, and have big payoffs to make to stay in business. The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has served a monetary penalty of £90,000 to a company that has blighted the public with thousands of unwanted marketing calls.

DM Design, based in Glasgow, has been the subject of nearly 2,000 complaints to the ICO and the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). The company consistently failed to check whether individuals had opted out of receiving marketing calls – in clear breach of the law - and responded to just a handful of the complaints received.

In one instance an employee refused to remove a complainant’s details from the company’s system and instead threatened to “continue to call at more inconvenient times like Sunday lunchtime”.

The monetary penalty is the first the ICO has issued for a serious breach of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) relating to live marketing calls. This latest penalty comes after the joint owners of a company, which was responsible for sending hundreds of thousands of spam texts, received penalties totalling £440,000 in November last year.

The ICO has informed two more companies that it is intending to impose significant penalties over breaches of the law, with a final decision likely in the coming weeks. A further ten companies are subject to ongoing investigation for cold-calling and sending spam text messages.

Information Commissioner, Christopher Graham, said:

“Today’s action sends out a clear message to the marketing industry that this menace will not be tolerated. This company showed a clear disregard for the law and a lamentable attitude toward the people whose day they were disturbing. This is not good enough.

“This fine will not be an isolated penalty. We know other companies are showing a similar disregard for the law and we’ve every intention of taking further enforcement action against companies that continue to bombard people with unlawful marketing texts and calls.

“All of this work has been made possible thanks to the information we are receiving from the public, which has assisted our investigation team in identifying the companies making these calls.”

The ICO and OFCOM, who are responsible for regulating silent calls, work closely together and will be publishing an open letter to the marketing industry reminding companies that they must comply with the legal and regulatory measures in place. Failure to do so will lead to enforcement action, with the ICO able to issue penalties of up to £500,000 for serious breaches of the PECR, and OFCOM having the power to issue penalties of up to £2,000,000 over breaches of rules linked to abandoned and silent calls.

Think they have franchise for the selling & servicing of Kirby Cleaners (vacuum cleaners). Whilst the cleaners are very good, they're very expensive & require an annual service! Told em about 18 months ago that we no longer had ours, but they still keep ringing. I assume they're either still trying to arrange to come &  carry out a service, or to get us to purchase a new cleaner?

How dare they make a comeback after all this time and on this same number! The nerve of them! Let's get them closed down.
