- LWThis page was very helpful, as I too suddenly started receiving unsolicited calls after ordering an appliance from Appliances Online.
In fact I had the same routine a few years ago when I ordered something else from them. It really got on my nerves for a while.
There is a way you can stop companies calling your number which I have done before. Google it, the info is out there about how to stop cold calling, there's probably a lot on this very site about that subject already.
So last time I ordered from Appliances Online it was irritatting for quite a while.getting regular calls from them. One day however I just answered it and let the salesperson go through their whole routine and was very polite to them - I was thinking about the fact that people employed in telesales are given a quota to fulfill every day and was thinking that basically this would help the guy out as it is a pretty unpleasant job he is doing.
He was so pleased to have a customer actual;ly let him do his whole routine on the phone, while at the same time I was careful not to agree to anything, Well I did agree to letting him mail me more info, and forms which of course I had no intention of bothering with, and really that is pretty unecological, especially since the internet, it is pretty unnecessary too. But I guess that is the agenda they are given to fulfill. Obviously at the time, I had tome to spare so it was not an inconvenience for me.
I just responded positively to his requests to give me more information about insurance options, future possible savings, other product deals etc., etc. The call ended without me having signed up for anything. And interestingly - I never got a call from them again. Now whether that was because I had fulfilled some quota and my name/number had been ticked off, or whether it was because I had now become this guy's contact (part of the call was about me going away and thinking about the offers and suggestions he had made and if I'd decided to go for them to phone his direct number) So I didn't get any morw calls from them after that, until of course since a couple of days ago when I ordered a new thing.
I have 3 sets of steps and told Appl Onl about them in the online ordering form, and when I ordered my last thing from them there was no problem with that so AJ's story about them refusing to go up to take the steps/stairs came as a surprise to me. The other story (Zoe R) with the gender chauvinist telesales guy doesn't exactly add to Appliances Online's reputation, so maybe I have been lucky with them so far?
I don't like receiving calls from unknown numbers so finding out who it is from this site as i have done a few times with strange numbers is a great help for me.- Caller: Appliances Online

- DavidAppliances on line confirming internet order for a fridge and also confirming free delivery within 48 hours of order. They do offer extended warranties as part of the call but are polite and not pushy if you say no. Overall a very good company offering good prices and excellent customer service. They even call on day of delivery to confirm a time slot so that you don't have wait in all day. Nothing to fear from this number

- JasonThis is a sales call masquerading as a customer service call from AO. They try and flog an insurance/warranty that you don't need as the manufacturers of good purchased provide freely. They get quite pushy when you say no.

- GranddadJust ordered a cooker from this company on their website and received a call within minutes. Having checked this website, I called them back and spoke to an adviser. She was very friendly and confirmed details of the order and informed me that I would receive a message the night before delivery giving details.
She did offer insurance which I thought was quite reasonable. The insurance is provided by Domestic and General which are specialists in the field and would be independent from AO.
On the whole, one of the better phone calls!- Caller: Apliances Online

- KrishReceived a call just after placing an order with AO.com, from reading other comments it's an offer of insurance.
- Caller: Insurance company
- EstelleDefinitely Appliance Online. I have purchase a double oven and they were confirming delivery, but the real purpose of the call was to sell insurance on the product. They tell you that appliances are "not what they used to be" and tend to break down more quickly so they will put you down for the insurance that you can opt out of at any time but not opt into if you don't take it up. They say they will replace the item on a new for old basis which is quite good, but I decided for a £344 oven, it was not worth taking out.

- methis number simultaneously rang my land and mobile number !! phone clicked off on answering both. but ..reading on here .... its Appliances Online (a.o.com) which figures as i bought a washing machine earlier from them...
- PeterGot this call twice today, once on the answer phone with no message. When I got in I looked at the answer phone to hear nothing so checked the number online to find this site saying it AO. Yes I had brought a fridge off them 2 weeks ago.
Anu hour later the phone rings again and it was AO asking about the delivery and I said "well you should know if the delivery went OK as I signed the electronic pad to say it was OK. He then tried to talk and started to mention insurance so I just said why don't you just F*** O** and hung up. I do not buy from firms who seem to think that just because you brought something it gives them to god damn right to harass you with after sales calls and stupid marketing stuff. Anyway I have my own way of getting my own back on these 5hitty companies, I just report the CEO or one of their directors to the Police via crimestoppers Anonymously for Harassment at https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/give-information-online/- Caller: AO

- JDYes, as others have said, it's Appliances Online (or a 'partner' company). BEWARE the caller is slick and tried to sell me insurance. I nearly fell for the line.."I'd just like to sign you up for the lifetime guarantee, Yes?". They know we like to agree to be polite. I had a go and he got defensive but I have come across this technique before.

- HarryI bought a washing machine from AO and it was delivered next day without any problem then the phone calls started as I don't know the number I let it go to my answer machine but the line goes dead so I did the reverse check and found it is part of AO .
I did not give them my number to be harassed by land-line and mobile so they can be assured they have lost a customer for sharing my details without permission- Caller: AO
- ScarlettmhAO. Lovely company, my second purchase.Excellent customer service. Confirmed delivery and offered insurance.

- Karen replies to DavidYeah it's just a roundabout way of flogging you more insurance - they have delivery info etc and confirm delivery etc via email/text.
Bit of a nuisance really - monabriYeah , appliances online.. Its a sales call to flog product insurance. Rang my home number but I couldn't get there in time but 5 secs later my mobile device rang and it was Ao. It was to sell a product repair/replacement. Not very pushy - only question was "why are you not interested in taking out this policy?"

- DocAO.COM calling me at work to read my order back to me. Unneccessary, intrusive and pointless.

- SteveNo Problem, just block the number. I too just purchased a freezer. The website will tell you when it is being delivered so there is no need to answer this call.
