Cold calling

28/7/08 two calls received, 12.28 & 14.25: my Caller ID gave this number. Calls cleared immediately my answering machine answered the call (it usually gets there first)
I rang back shortly after. Message received was "Thank you for calling Tameside Insulation, your call will be answered shortly".
I am registered with the Telephone Preference Service. I had not requested this company to call me for any reason.

I am registered with TPS and I've had no dealings with this company before.

Had a call 9.14 this morning, couldn't answer it straight away, i'm with TPS no reason for there call.

I'm registered with the TPS. I shouldn't have been called at 5.57pm this evening.

Called at 9:45am.  I'm om TPS.  My wife answered, the caller said she was calling in regard to 'some debt' we owed.  She never said what company it was. When my wife questioned who she was she hung up.  Needless to say we've never had any dealings with this company.

Wanting to offer a grant for cavity wall insulation - they'll be lucky, our house is too old to have cavities !
Anyway, as I'm also TPS registered I've added this number to the list of complaints about cold calling.

I was also called by this number around two months ago - every day for a week. I could not understand why as I am registered with TPS. A woman kept asking for some bloke who does not live here and, to the best of my knowledge, has never lived here.

She never once mentioned Thameside Insulation and I never called them back, however, she did mention a debt and attempted to collect my personal details. When I queried what the debt related to, she refused to give out any information without knowing who she was speaking to first. I recognised that 0161 was the Greater Manchester dialling code and simply refused to speak to her on the basis that I live nowhere near there, have no debts and have had no dealings with a company there.

They called the house and when answered I got the dialling tone. I did 1471 but didn't press 3, I knew it was the Manchester area and don't know anyone there so I knew it was a 'cold-call attmept'.
The TPS doesn't work very well, tried it for several years.
If someone has your telephone number and uses it then the TPS can't do anything about it.

Received a call from this number and a lady asked to speak to Mrs Burns??

No one with that name here. They've rang and asked several times for this person.

I have just had a call from this number, I too am registered with TPS and so should not have been called. I did not call them back and didn't actually manage to speak to anyone instead I heard what sounded like a conversation between two call centre collegues with profanities galore. I don't normally bother chasing up on unsolicitored calls but the language I heard tipped me over the edge. I only wish that there was somebody who I could speak to to complain.
Not impressed.

Rang this morning when, unusually, I was at home. They said it was a about a grant I may be entitled to for insulation.

I challenged where they got my number and the woman said it was from a list supplied by 'energy providers'. I asked if they didn't check with TPS and was told they did but sometimes numbers slip through the net. She then apologised and said my number would be taken off their list.

I was rung from this number by a man with a northern accent who wanted to know if I was the houseowner of my address and when I challenged him to say who he was he told me "You're being quite rude". When I explained why (he was asking personal information and I had no idea who he was) he said he'd write me a letter instead. I'm not holding my breath, but I'll put a new message on this site in the unlikely event that he ever does

This number called at 5:05pm. They shouldn't have our number as we are on TPS. No message was left.

Rang this number for a friend who had been targeted got through ok but could hear redirection to call centre, also informed name given by energy provider and informed a representative would call next day but a call to house would be made first to let her know the rep was on route could find no trace of this firm in phone book. checked this page and found complaints but i also checked through the firms advert on the web phone number 01613373440 where i found 10 pages of complaints.

I had a call from this number left on my answering machine tonight. Like most of the people on here, I am on the Telephone Preference Service list and have no dealings with them so they should not be calling.

They did not leave a message on my answering machine but I could hear people talking in the background then they hung up. I have an elderly blind lady at this address who would be terrified if she started getting calls from people who do not speak, so it is fortunate that I got to the message first.

Got  a call from this number today, had no dealings with this company before. I am registered with TPS

Exactly the same as all the above - maybe we should call them at silly times better still all write to them at the above address but don't put a stamp on the envelope they will have to pay to receive an empty letter!! see how they like unwanted pestering!
