Just received a call from some guy, who claimed to be a UOB rep. It started with an automated message, claiming I have an outstanding request from UOB (which i genuinely did). Then it put me through to someone who says they are from UOB, and ask me how they can help me. Then I said i receive the call from them, so they ask me for referral number. I said I didn't have, so they asked me for my name and IC. I gave them (which UOB always ask for also), then they said i have a outstanding request (which I thought was my genuine request), and gave me a referral number. Then it transferred me to someone else, and they ask me how they can help me. I gave them referral number, and they said I have outstanding payment worth RM17k on a card that was opened in Ipoh, Perak. I said thats not me, and they read the card number to me. I said no thats wrong, as my card number ends in xxxx (i gave them 4 digits).

They then said this card was opened under my IC, and they read my last 4 digits of my IC back to me. Then then also said its under my name (and read my name). So they advised me to file a police report, and said they were going to transfer me to the police station. They said if i dont file today, my IC and name will be blacklist in CTOS and CCris. At this point i was pretty sure it was a scam so i asked them for their details.

They gave me their full name, their fixed number, the full credit card number, the application date and approval date, and told me to tell all of this to the police. I then immediately called the real UOB hotline and asked if the card number is real and if i have any other cards under my name. UOB confirmed that it was fake.
