Recently a call from this number - they are part of the Public Service Publications bunch who say they work closely with the government and ask you to pay to go into their publications.  This is a scam as they always proport to know your organisation and how well respected it is etc etc.

They keep ringing and ringing,stupid [***] on the phone (Melody) says it urgent (Yeah right!!) have had the same conversation with the dumb [***]!!! WE ARENT BLOODY INTERESTED!!!! [***]!

looks like psca international have changed there phone numbers.

If you are goingh to do business with this lot then here is a breakdown of the actual prices they will accept (and not the stupid numbers they will try and extract from you)

Journals : 1 page - £1500-£1600
             2 pages - £3k. also ask for a page of edit.

Public Servant - 1/2 page - £1200
                      Fullpage - £2200

Events -      Insert - £1k
                Stand - £2500
                Masterclass - £4000

They will say to you 'keep it confidential, everyone else is paying full price etc' but its a lie and they just take whatever they can get.

And if you have paid more than this then you have been had.

Most important of all though is to know that nothing they do is worth anything like these figures.

Even when trying to communicate something truthful Matt Shipman can't stop sounding like a bully. PSCA salespeople eh? When will they learn?

PS. Matt - you should try proof reading your posts first - that way they won't be riddled with mistakes.

It's hard sales of advertising space dressed up as something "useful" that 150,000 public sector decision makers read. Gotta give it to the sales lady though - she wouldn't give up easily.

I advertise in a number of publications but something about this one just didn't seem right. All key questions about independent verification were dodged. They say that they provide the best solutions for any given public sector procurement problem, but it is quite clear that the sole qualifying factor to be published as a "great solution" is the advertiser's willingness to pay them £4,000 and that is a load of rubbish and IF this is a real publication, intelligent readers would see it for what it is.

It might be kosher, but the lady who called me tried to muscle me into a decision without giving me a chance to check up on them independently. All I wanted was a couple hours to Google them and this was refused - "you have to agree to this now over the phone."

At that point I was happy to say no. They clearly do not want you to check up on them at all and I don't do business with companies like that.

150,000 people is a bit of a porky.

They send out about 5,000 copies of each magazine to civil servants even though no-one asks for them - they are free and 'non-requested'. Of these very very few get read - ask any civil servant if they have ever seen or read one and the answer will be 'NO' 999 times out 1000.
