I have just missed a call from this number so searched on-line for it. I too have no idea who it is from, however I have just booked a holiday. The last person to put a message up about this number received their call when on holiday. Maybe it is something to do with that?

    In late December 2007 I bought a Nokia N95 8GB from Phone4U on a Vodafone contract.

Been called by this number twice in the last two days, just to see if this number was registered to a mobile phone insurance company I’m having trouble with at the minute I typed it in a search engine and low and behold it seems it is and I ended up here.

Someone cold called me in exactly the same way in January 2008 and offered me mobile phone insurance at a cheaper price than I was paying for the same service.  At the time I was cooking and wasn’t paying full attention like I should have but the way they knew my number, address, phone model and amount of insurance I was paying I assumed it was the Phones4U affiliated insurance that I signed up for when I bought my phone basically saying they were lowering my insurance costs for me.

Anyway stupidly I gave them some bank details and a few days later the contract came through with £59.99 taken out of my account by direct debit for a year’s insurance.  I read through the contract and it seemed decent enough and the excess etc was a lot cheaper than I was paying.

By the way this company is called BLUETOOTH SERVICES LIMITED (ASSURE PHONE LIMITED) and are based in SWANSEA. Not sure if they are the same company or anything to do with Brightphone but the one I’m dealing with their director does not show up on any company checks although a person with the same surname and different initial shows up for 4 company numbers in SWANSEA.  Bluetooth Services also show on company searchers that their accounts are not up to date ect. They have operated from two different addresses and also their address on their forms is different to those two on top of that.

In March 2008 (6 weeks after I took out their cover) I cracked the LCD on my phone and started the claims procedure, even then I had to get in touch three times just to get my claims form.

They have had my phone since March 14th, it’s now August 21st.  I have been fobbed off with excuses such as “The phone is so new we are having trouble finding a LCD so we will be sending you a brand new handset instead” and after that “Because its such a new phone we are having trouble getting a sim free version, but its on order you should have it within a week”.  They do not reply to emails and constantly fob me off with the “it’s on order” excuse.

For the last month I have now got trading standards involved although even they are taking a lot longer than I expected to resolve this problem and the company are even giving them similar excuses.  Luckily this Monday is their last chance.  If I have not received my phone by then legal proceedings will begin as I am sick to death of this, it’s beyond a joke, I just hope I’ll not get stung with a “The company has gone into administration” situation.

I’m not saying Brightphone are scammers like Assure clearly are but everyone beware of these cold calling mobile phone insurers, you could easily end up like me at the moment……[***]

    Hi

I have a Blackberry from Vodafone. Have had it for 3 weeks and have not given the number to anyone as I also have a mobile. These people have been calling me every day for the last 5 days at 11.30 am.

Decided to Google like everyone else and found this site.

I am going to contact Vodafone to see if I can get this number blocked.

Just to let anyone with an i-phone be aware. When you use the internet search function on an unsecure site or a service provider you do not normally use , then your info is freely available for all to see. Any time you log on from any mobile the security is not as strong as that available on laptops or pcs.
The main reason for this is very much the same as wi-fi not being as secure as a registered ip address, only a little bit more worrying. Every time you use the functions on your phone you are leaving yourself open to these types of calls. The same would also apply to blackberries etc.

Thanks for this thread. I am getting a lot of weird stuff lately and this is topping it off. I got rung, told my mobile phone was up for renewal, I then said  it wasn't and I had 6 months remaining on it so they just hung up. Had another call from them today and ignored them!!!

don't have an iphone, because i like picture messaging. But this number keeps calling me. They claim to be a base company which other companies then act as intermediaries for, between the customers and them. They are claiming if they cut out the intermediary (in my case phones4u), that the cost will be cut by half for my insurance.
Nonsense. Phones4u know nothing of these people when I asked.

i was called by this number and was given a good deal on phone insurance, unfortunatly my phone had cut off before i could agree to any terms and conditions of the company. so i left it and thought if they wanted it completed they would phone back or forget it.

mmmmm much to my surprise Bright Phone Ltd are not highly educated in mathmatics i was qouted £3 a month for the policy. There was £80 waiting to come out of my account!!!!!! i phoned up and was told "the lump sum was for a year"?????? and they still cant do simple mathmatics!!! so i said i wanted to cancel the policy seeing as i didnt agree to any terms and conditions of the company and was certainly not told of their lack of brain cells. by this time the money hadnt came out of my account it was just pending, however after my phone call to cancel the "policy" which i never agreed to the money was taken out???.

after phoning about 5 times over a period of 3 days and being told everytime that someone had to listen to the phone call to establish if there was infact an agreement. Shooting themselves in the foot SO many times! I finally got it sorted and got a full refund. Obviously this is a shortened version and there is a lot more with this company that just doesnt add up. My advice to anyone having dealings with this company at all is DONT they are chancers.

    ARGH THESE F***KIN WAN**RS!!!!

As per Phils post the same just happened to me! I am so angry with myself for A) not google searching these idiots beforehand and B) being naive enough to give them my friggin card details.  They have taken £80 from my account - well, the payment is still pending but the monies have been allocated for this payment which I gave them no authorisation for!!!

I have made my first phone call about 15 minutes ago.  I recorded the call that I made to them and will take the [***] to court if I have to.  The girl said she needed to listen to the call made to me last Friday (which was when I gave them my account details) and that she will call me back within the hour. Hmmm.. we'll see.  If she doesnt I will be straight back on the phone again with another complaint.  I am absolutely fuming right now.

Phil - any advise on how to get this policy cancelled and my refund sooner rather than later???

    ABSOLUTE SCAM ARTISTS.

They lead you to believe you are saving money on your phone insurance (which you may not even have!)

They advise you that they can reduce your insurance by x amount.

They neglect to advise you that they will take this payment upfront and you then find your bank account has been debited by £60 - £120

Had a missed call yesterday and answered it just now. Had a beep and some background noise then it hung up. Ive had a similar situation to some mentioned above. I dont have an iphone but i did get my phone from "phones 4u". I received a call from someone shortly after getting my phone offering me a cheaper phone insurance, they asked a few questions and then when i said ok they said they just needed a few details. First thing she asked was for my name...thought this was pretty strange as she rang me supposidely because phones 4u had organised the call. I said "surely you should already now that" at which point she hung up. had a few calls like that since but number was often witheld. Im very cagey with any numbers I do not recognise now. My housemate had the same call after getting a phone from phones for you and gave the bank account details etc and lost money through them as well as paying the phones 4u insurance seperately!!
My friend who works for phones 4u said some how details of new customers to phones for you are being leaked to these companies as soon as your details are put on their computer database and that is where they get your number from. My advice would be to go to networks such as vodafone and O2 directly and not through phones 4u.
    Hope this was helpful
